Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 775 - 774 Leaving Once Again (3)_1
Half an hour later, Noah Reyes had finished ten laps, a full three kilometers.
Gio Coleman also emerged from Adele's office at this time, his face bearing an unmistakable look of loss.
Without even taking a sip of water, Noah Reyes rushed upstairs, intent on throwing his rival out.
At the elevator, the two men met.
Noah Reyes was drenched in sweat, his handsome face dark as he stared at Gio Coleman, his hands balled into fists.
Gio Coleman looked at him steadily. Before Noah Reyes could make a move, Gio reached out, patted Noah on the shoulder, and said in a hoarse voice, "Mr. Reyes, I leave Adele to you. Take good care of her."
Then, Gio Coleman stepped past Noah Reyes and entered the elevator.
With Noah Reyes having completed the ten laps, Julia naturally had to fulfill her promise.
No matter how unwilling or resentful Adele was, she was still handed over by her meddling sister-in-law to Noah Reyes, who embraced and carried her away from Syrena.
Sitting in the General Manager's Office, enjoying the coolness of the air conditioning, Julia was on the phone with her man.
"So satisfying, Glades, truly satisfying! Noah Reyes actually ran the full ten laps—three kilometers—and didn't even seem out of breath afterward. I think not even you could have done that." Julia was all smiles; she had pranked Noah Reyes and also outmaneuvered Gio Coleman. This left Gio heartbroken and dejected; realizing he was no match for Noah Reyes, he departed in despair.
Julia felt she had done a superb job.
Glades's deep voice came with an indulgent chuckle. "You, going to the office early in the morning just to set people up?"
"Noah Reyes asked for it. If someone walks right into your trap, who else are you going to set up?" Julia giggled.
"Aren't you afraid Adele will be mad at you for sending her away like this?" Glades asked lightly, laughing as he adjusted his tie.
Julia laughed even more merrily. Her relationship with her sister-in-law was now as good as that of real sisters. What she did was for her sister-in-law's own good. Even if Adele got mad now, she would be thankful later.
"What's there to be afraid of, with you here?"
With Glades Horne around, she could use him as a blanket if the sky fell.
Glades felt a mixture of helplessness and affection.
The complete and heartfelt trust of his wife pleased him.
"Mom said, starting today, you have to come home on time for your nourishing soup," Glades added finally.
Julia's smile vanished immediately. That was the last thing she wanted.
During her pregnancy with Ivan, both her mother-in-law and her mother had pressured her to the point where the mere mention of drinking soup scared her. And now, with a second child on the way, it had started all over again!
Alas, her carefree days were likely to be put on hold.
After Noah Reyes left Syrena with Adele Horne, he drove her back to the Nameless Manor.
This time, Adele did not struggle or curse. She just quietly sat in the passenger seat, sneaking glances at the grave-faced Noah Reyes as he drove.
Her chaotic heart felt somewhat clearer.
Just now, Gio Coleman had confessed to her.
She was shocked beyond measure.
She had never imagined that Gio Coleman could fall in love with her.
After all, they had once been mortal enemies. She had frequently picked on Gio, and he had also said he hated her. Years later, upon their reunion—after she became an unwed mother with a tarnished reputation—Gio had confessed, claiming that he had thought of her often during his years abroad and had come to realize he was in love with her.
Gio Coleman looked at her with very tender and affectionate eyes, asking, "Adele, do I still have a chance? Can you give me a chance?"
Adele remembered staring blankly at Gio, like a fool.
What floated through her mind, however, was Noah Reyes's handsome face.
She recalled Noah sending her flowers and various plants, drinking bitter tea, devouring a table laden with snacks, and, most recently, running three kilometers just for her.
There was some clarity amid the chaos in her heart; her resentment towards Noah wasn't as deep as she had imagined. Especially after he had explained everything, she realized that her resentment was slowly fading.
He, too, had only been cruel by ignoring her, all for the sake of protecting her.
And his background, the environment he grew up in, also filled her with pity.
What Deon Myers had said also made sense. The most wicked and ruthless individuals often had a tragic past; indeed, no one is born evil.
"Adele, you actually have feelings for Noah, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't have braved such tremendous pressure to give birth to Jimmy," Gio suddenly pointed out Adele's conflict, his voice tinged with heartache.
At those words, Adele was stunned into stone.
Did she?
She wasn't sure.
After so many years, the memories were still vivid. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
She thought she hated that 'Reyes' fellow, a man whose given name she didn't know and whose face she couldn't even picture.
But when she decided to give birth to Billy, she only felt wronged.
Perhaps she had never hated Noah; she had just mistaken the feeling of being wronged for hatred.
It was only after her experiences with Noah that she had grown and transformed.
"Just now downstairs, your sister-in-law asked me if I could accept the challenge to run ten laps. I didn't answer because I didn't have the courage, the willpower, or the physical strength," Gio said with a bitter smile, his voice revealing his undeniable disappointment.
The contest with Noah hadn't truly begun, but it was already over.
Against a formidable opponent like Noah Reyes, Gio Coleman could say he had courage, but he was ultimately no match.
Turns out, chasing a wife requires more than just courage.
He wasn't afraid of Noah, but in terms of effort, he was far inferior.
Suddenly, Gio remembered the two cups of intensely bitter tea, as bitter as gall, that the Old Lady had someone specially brew.
He had lost to Noah Reyes from the moment he tasted that bitter tea.
Adele didn't know when she had snapped back to reality, only that she told Gio she only saw him as a classmate, as a friend.
SCREECH—
A car drove into Nameless Manor and stopped in the Courtyard. The sound of it parking pulled Adele back from her drifting thoughts.
"Master," Deon Myers greeted, hurrying forward.
Upon seeing Adele Horne, Deon froze for a moment, swallowing back the words he was about to speak. He had prepared the Master's private plane for their departure from Syrena. However, in front of the future lady, he decided it was better not to voice this, trusting the Master would bring it up himself.
But at that moment, Noah Reyes's phone began to ring. Deon, seeming to know who was calling, lowered his gaze.
Noah got out of the car to answer the call, while Adele remained seated and did not get out.
The call came from an Elder of the Security Department. After hearing the report, Noah's expression became somber again. After a brief moment, he said in a low voice, "I'm coming back immediately!"
