QT: The Rescue Of The Miserable Bigshots-Chapter 330 - 11.3
Zhou Mushen returned quickly. When Jiang Jiamian had gone back to the bedroom and lain down briefly, he faintly heard movement downstairs.
He had no intention of getting up.
He was determined to lie in bed and wait for that all-around butler to bring him food.
Whatever Zhou Mushen’s purpose was, since he was so eager to work, he might as well do it properly. As someone who enjoyed being taken care of, Jiang Jiamian saw no reason to refuse.
Besides, the original owner’s body was genuinely weak. Once he lay down, he really didn’t want to move at all.
His face was slightly pale and sickly as he lay there, eyes closed, listening to the faint sounds from downstairs. Soon, he sank deeper into the quilt.
Zhou Mushen returned and went straight into the kitchen. He likely guessed that Jiang Jiamian didn’t intend to come downstairs, so he didn’t try to greet him and instead began cooking.
Before long, a fragrant aroma drifted through the kitchen, which had been unused for a long time. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Ding-dong.
The doorbell rang suddenly.
Zhou Mushen’s hand holding the spatula paused. He turned the heat down before walking toward the door.
Ding-dong.
Another ring.
Even Jiang Jiamian, half-asleep upstairs, was jolted awake.
Zhou Mushen frowned and opened the door. A smiling middle-aged woman stood outside. When she saw him, her smile widened and she greeted him. "Hello, are you Mr. Jiang Jiamian? I’m from the housekeeping company. You called earlier..."
"You’ve got the wrong address."
Zhou Mushen replied coldly and slammed the door shut.
Ding-dong.
The bell rang again.
Zhou Mushen opened the door once more, frowning. "I said you have the wrong address."
The woman looked confused. "But the address the company gave me is here..."
Squeak.
Upstairs, the sound of a bedroom door opening echoed, followed by Jiang Jiamian’s lazy, slightly weak voice. "Who is it? Why is it so noisy downstairs? Zhou Mushen?"
Zhou Mushen: "..."
"It’s nothing." He replied.
He paused, quickly pulled out a hundred, and stuffed it into the woman’s hand. Lowering his voice, he said, "We won’t need the service. Please cancel the order. Thank you for your trouble. This is for your transportation."
The woman looked unhappy at first upon hearing he wanted to cancel. But when she saw the bill in her hand, her expression immediately brightened. She clutched it tightly. "That’s fine, that’s fine!"
Zhou Mushen let out a long breath, closed the door, and turned around.
Jiang Jiamian was already leaning against the railing again, scratching his head sleepily as he looked down at him. "Who was that just now? What were you whispering about?"
Zhou Mushen lifted the corners of his mouth slightly, maintaining his professional smile. "Nothing. Just a woman."
Jiang Jiamian: "..."
Nonsense.
Even if he couldn’t hear clearly, did he not know it was a woman?
"I asked what she came here for. And is the food ready yet? I’m starving!"
Jiang Jiamian leaned heavily against the railing. With his pale, sickly complexion, he looked languid and fragile, like a flower stirred by a passing breeze.
Zhou Mushen’s eyes flickered almost imperceptibly. His throat went dry, and his voice turned hoarse. "She said her dog was lost and asked if anyone had seen it. I’ve already sent her away."
Jiang Jiamian nodded, no longer interested. "Is the food ready?"
Zhou Mushen’s voice softened as he walked back toward the kitchen. "Almost done. You can sit at the table first, it’ll be ready in just a moment..."
"No. Bring it to my bedroom."
Jiang Jiamian interrupted him without hesitation, raising an eyebrow. "Look at that table, it hasn’t even been wiped. I’m starving and don’t want to wait. Bring it upstairs and clean everything here."
He was completely unapologetic.
Zhou Mushen nearly lost his smile. "Alright. Coming right away."
"Ah... this life is really comfortable..."
Back in the bedroom, Jiang Jiamian sprawled lazily across the bed and closed his eyes with a satisfied sigh.
"Host..."
The system hesitated for a moment before whispering cautiously, "Will the host update today?"
Jiang Jiamian kept his eyes closed, though his brows twitched slightly. "Of course."
Li Zhe had not only written the original owner’s next book ahead of time, but after their confrontation, he had also maliciously retaliated by deliberately spoiling the plot of the original owner’s current work. By revealing key developments in advance, he made the story predictable and stripped it of suspense, causing readers to lose interest and abandon it in large numbers.
At that point, changing the plot was no longer possible. Too much groundwork had already been laid in the earlier Chapters, and the outline had long since been fixed. Altering even one major point would trigger a chain reaction, making it impossible to smoothly develop a new storyline within a short period of time.
The original owner was deeply affected. His unfinished work had been released first by someone else, and his ongoing novel had also been ruined. As a result, he fell into despair, updating only sporadically a few times before completely giving up. He no longer had the emotional energy or creative inspiration to properly continue the story.
Yet it was important to note that in Li Zhe’s previous life, before his rebirth, the original owner had once risen steadily through the ranks. Though not a top-tier author, he had still become a well-known figure in the web novels world, with several representative works to his name. He had lived a life that could be called glorious.
But because of Li Zhe’s rebirth, that future was completely destroyed, replaced by frustration, stagnation, and obscurity.
And the original owner was far from the only victim.
Most of the other works that Li Zhe had published prematurely were relatively unaffected, simply because their authors had no idea that those stories hadn’t originally belonged to Li Zhe or that they hadn’t even been fully conceived yet.
After what happened with the original owner, Li Zhe became much more cautious. He stopped targeting novels that were likely to become popular too early.
However, even a reborn protagonist armed with a cheat-like advantage couldn’t have a perfectly smooth journey forever. Eventually, another accident occurred.
This time, Li Zhe had chosen a book that wouldn’t become popular until five years later. What he hadn’t anticipated was that the author had already begun conceiving the story several years in advance.
Not only that, but the character settings and overall outline had already been prepared and saved in the drafts folder of a small website, complete with clearly recorded timestamps.
The incident quickly escalated into a massive scandal involving mutual accusations of plagiarism. In the end, the male protagonist barely managed to escape the disaster.
Inevitably, old controversies from the original owner’s past conflicts were dragged out and discussed once more.
However, Jiang Jiamian had no intention of letting someone who relied on rebirth to plagiarize others succeed.
He still had a mission to complete, to save the powerful and miserable bigshot. And while doing so, he would crush this kind of trash protagonist without mercy.
Still... Jiang Jiamian sighed inwardly.
"This time, it probably won’t be convenient to take the ’seduce the mission target’ route."
The system was startled. "Huh? Why? Isn’t he still the original owner’s number one fan?"
Jiang Jiamian smacked his lips. "That’s true. He is number one. But aside from that, everything else about him is confidential. I don’t know where he lives, and I don’t even know his real name. I can’t exactly... start an online romance, can I?"
Even in the original plot, whenever this top fan was mentioned, he was only referred to by his reader ID.
But that ID...
"Shen Muzhou... Why does that sound so much like a real name?"
Jiang Jiamian pouted, but quickly shook his head. "Impossible, impossible. People these days aren’t that old-fashioned. Who would actually use their real name as a username? It’s probably the name of some favorite character or something."
Knock, knock, knock.
He was still lost in thought when a knock sounded at the bedroom door.
"It’s unlocked. Come in."
Today, Jiang Jiamian was truly embodying the phrase too lazy to get out of bed.
Zhou Mushen gently pushed the door open, then froze in place.
After a long silence, Jiang Jiamian cracked one eye open and saw him standing at the doorway, holding a plate and staring blankly into the room.
Jiang Jiamian slowly sat up, though he still made no move to get out of bed. "What are you standing there for? Bring it over. I’m hungry. I’ve already said it four times."
"Ahem." Zhou Mushen coughed lightly and gestured toward the mess on the floor. "I was just thinking about where to step... what route I should take to reach you without stepping on your things."
Jiang Jiamian: "..."
He felt deeply offended. Thank you very much.
But this was entirely the original owner’s fault, it really had nothing to do with him.
Zhou Mushen continued, "And besides, the smell in this room... are you sure you can eat? Is that instant noodle soup that’s been sitting there for who knows how long?"
With that, Zhou Mushen delivered yet another merciless blow.
Jiang Jiamian immediately exploded. He pointed at Zhou Mushen angrily. "I can eat! I’m starving, why can’t I eat? Stop arguing and just bring it over! I’ll eat, and you can clean up."
Zhou Mushen’s lips curled upward involuntarily. Unlike his usual professional smile, this one was quick, a hint of laughter even coloring his voice. "Alright, I’ll bring it over right now. I’ll feed it to you myself if I have to."
"What?! There’s no need for that!"
Jiang Jiamian crossed his arms defensively. "Instead of wasting time, you’d better clean up this room. Otherwise, if I eat a few bites and stop being hungry, what if I really can’t eat anymore?"
Especially that box of instant noodles.
He truly couldn’t understand how the original owner had lived like this.
He had money. He had a house, even a small villa. How had he managed to live worse than Li Zhe, who had once hidden away in a tiny rented room in his previous life?
Seeing that Jiang Jiamian genuinely looked starving, Zhou Mushen finally stopped staring at the floor. He quickly placed a plate of soft scrambled eggs with chives on the bedside table and handed him a fork.
Without a word, Jiang Jiamian grabbed it and scooped up a large mouthful.
"Hot!"
Zhou Mushen’s voice suddenly rose, startling Jiang Jiamian so badly that he nearly dropped the fork.
"I know! Don’t yell, you scared me!"
Jiang Jiamian shot him an annoyed look, blew on the fork a few times, and eagerly stuffed it into his mouth anyway. The moment he tasted it, his expression twisted.
It clearly hadn’t cooled down yet.
Zhou Mushen: "..."
Next time, he’ll definitely cool it down before bringing it over.
