Tang Yu gave him an uncertain glance.
With her body like this, she couldn’t possibly still want to do anything, right?
She thought it was unlikely.
She got up and sat down on the edge of the bed, even her sitting posture was cautious.
Then, Ye Sihan’s hand touched her slender waist, slipping under her clothes—
“Hmm…” Tang Yu’s body shuddered as she leaned forward slightly, pressing his hand through the clothes, “You’re injured now, don’t mess around.”
“Blushing?” Ye Sihan’s dark eyes watched her intently and dangerously.
Tang Yu couldn’t see her own face, but she could feel the heat on her cheeks.
It never used to be like this, at most she would feel annoyed and panicked.
Suddenly, she stood up abruptly, “I’m going to check on the children,” she said and turned to leave.
Once outside the door, Tang Yu covered her face with her hand, which was indeed very hot.
It wasn’t the first time Ye Sihan had touched her waist, and he had done even more before, so why feel so affected now?
It was driving her crazy…
She made a round trip to the children’s room and, after calming down, returned to the master bedroom.
Ye Sihan had already gotten up and was standing on the balcony, holding a glass of wine in his hand.
The light from the bedroom and the dark of the night enveloped him, half-bright, half-dark, mysterious and noble, as if standing at the crossroads between the mortal world and Hell, sending shivers down her spine.
When those eyes deeper than the night itself looked over, Tang Yu said, “I’m going to take a shower.”
She turned around, took some clothes from the closet, and went into the bathroom.
Ye Sihan was already wearing his pajamas, which clearly meant he had bathed that afternoon.
When she went to see the children, Uncle Wen mentioned that his medicine had been reapplied.
She had seen those fierce wounds back at the hospital.
From his appearance, Ye Sihan seemed unaffected.
But she knew just how painful those wounds must be.
Could this man really endure such physical pain so stoically?
When Tang Yu came out of the shower, she didn’t see Ye Sihan in the room.
Where had he gone?
Stepping out of the room, she asked a maid and found out he had gone to the study.
It must be that KING Corporation had some business that needed his attention.
Tang Yu, wearing a long nightgown that reached her ankles, went downstairs to the study and knocked on the door—
“Come in.”
As Tang Yu pushed the door open, she saw him sat at the desk, operating the computer while on a call.
Even in his casual pajamas, his commanding presence could not be concealed.
Tang Yu stood there without speaking, waiting for him to finish the call.
Ye Sihan’s dark gaze lifted, fixed on the person in front of him, with the phone still by his ear, it was unclear where his attention really lay.
Tang Yu’s long lashes fluttered, and she turned to approach the desk, slightly rearranging the documents on it.
Just like when she used to be his assistant.
Ye Sihan put the phone down, resting his hands on the tabletop, and looked at her, “How am I supposed to work with you fluttering around?”
Tang Yu’s lips parted awkwardly, “Sorry, I just came to see if you needed help. I’ll go out then, I’ll be outside, just call me if you need me.”
She hadn’t expected Ye Sihan to say such a thing, and her heart sank.
Just as she was about to turn around, her wrist was grasped.
Before Tang Yu could react, Ye Sihan pulled her onto him, seating her on his sturdy thigh.
It left her completely bewildered.
Hadn’t he said she was affecting his work?
Not only did he not banish her, but also held her in his arms?
“This is much better,” Ye Sihan’s voice was deep and hoarse.
Both of them were wearing pajamas.
Especially Tang Yu, whose pajamas were made of silk and were very thin. They fluttered as she walked, and her body felt practically intangible when they touched.
For Ye Sihan, the sensation was distinct, and it was the same for her.
She stood rigidly, daring not to move, with a hint of protest, “Where is this better…”
“You’re not allowed to refuse,” Ye Sihan narrowed his dark pupils, looking at the person in his embrace who was clearly uncomfortable.
“…I’m afraid it will tear your wound and it won’t heal well…” Tang Yu whispered.
Ye Sihan’s eyes were dark and profound, “It wouldn’t be a problem to hold you all night, let alone embrace you.”
“…” Tang Yu bit her lip as her heartbeat erratically, not doubting Ye Sihan’s words at all. “No, let’s wait until the wound is healed…”
Ye Sihan caught every little expression on that small face in his gaze, but he didn’t actually do anything, for fear of scaring her.
In his eyes, she was as fragile as his unarmed prey.
A knock on the door interrupted Ye Sihan’s focus on Tang Yu.
“Come in.”
Wen Bo came in anxiously, “Mr. Ye, the young miss has a fever!”
Tang Yu hurriedly stood up from Ye Sihan’s embrace, “How high is the fever?”
“Took her temperature, it’s 39 degrees,” Wen Bo said. “Should we go to the hospital or have the doctor come here?”
Before Tang Yu could make up her mind, Ye Sihan behind her had already stood up, “To the hospital.”
Although a doctor could come to the Ye Mansion, a hospital check-up would be more comprehensive.
Xibao was Ye Sihan’s daughter, his only precious girl, how could there be the slightest negligence?
After changing clothes, Ye Sihan carried Xibao downstairs.
Xibao’s little chubby face was red, a result of the fever. Her eyes were weakly open, silent.
Even sick, she was so quiet that it made one’s heart ache.
As they were leaving, Tang Yu followed, “Let me carry her? You still have injuries. Or let me take the child to the hospital?” With bodyguards and maids present, she would be even safer.
“It’s not a problem.”
At the hospital, the check-up indicated it was a cold that caused the fever.
Xibao’s chubby hand was fitted with a needle, and she was being held by her mom, her little nose sniffing, her small mouth pouting pitifully.
Tang Yu gently stroked her little head, “It doesn’t hurt, mommy will blow on it, after we’re done with the needle, we’ll be all better.”
Ye Sihan took a tissue to wipe Xibao’s nose that was about to run, asking, “Daddy hold you?”
During the injection, as Xibao cried for mommy, Tang Yu had to hold her.
“I want mommy…” Xibao was about to cry again immediately.
“Don’t cry, mommy’s here to hold you, don’t cry,” Tang Yu soothed her, glancing at Ye Sihan’s expression with a bit of embarrassment. “Xibao gets clingy when she’s sick, just like most children who are used to their mother’s scent.”
Ye Sihan stood up and sat next to her, “What, you’re afraid I’ll be unhappy?”
“Afraid you’ll get jealous,” Tang Yu’s lips curled into a smile.
“It seems I’ll have to hold her more in the future,” Ye Sihan said.
“Hold her more? Xibao already dislikes walking, this will only make her less inclined to walk in the future,” Tang Yu disagreed.
Xibao was heavy, and Tang Yu couldn’t hold her for long, almost always letting her walk by herself.
But for Ye Sihan, that little weight was negligible, so he would carry her whenever he could.
While they were having fun on the yacht and Xibao said she couldn’t walk anymore, Ye Sihan didn’t hesitate to carry her up and down the deck.
“As long as I’m here, she won’t need to walk,” Ye Sihan stated as a matter of course.
Tang Yu was utterly helpless, yet she didn’t say anything.
There were two IV bottles to hang, and since they dripped slowly, they didn’t start until after nine.
The Xibao in her arms had fallen asleep, and her fever had subsided as well.
