Raising Ducks for Daily Rewards-Chapter 14: The Future is Boundless
Fengyu looked at the ten spell diagrams in front of him.
Two spells per common element:
"Water, Fire, Wood, Earth and Wind control spells, encompassing the five elements, the common elements that construct the world. Learning these spells is easy, mastering them is extremely difficult.
It’s said that everyone who has mastered them to Perfection could learn various spells of that element just by looking at it.
Even Foundation Building cultivators have to work extremely hard and learn for many years before achieving Perfection.
Time and History masters have split the cultivation world in a cycle of 60 years – every sixty years, there would be a rise and fall of talents, and lifespan is also often calculated according to this 60 years, also called a Jiazi.
A mortal has a lifespan of one to two jiazi, depending on health, sports, treatment, etc.
A Qi Refining cultivator has a guaranteed lifespan of two jiazi. Because of this, generally, cultivators of this stage haven’t truly entered the path to immortality.
Advancing to the second stage, the Foundation Building stage, they gain two jiazi of lifespan, reaching a full 240 years of lifespan!
Naturally based on cultivation art, techniques, spiritual materials and so on, usually the lifespan of a Foundation Building cultivator is between 200 and 300 years, which is a huge amount!
Only with such a lifespan can one guarantee mastering at least one control art.
This is why mastering them at the Qi Refining stage is a testament to one’s talent.
In the future, I should learn them all and see which one I have the most talent for."
Although Fengyu’s spiritual root is of wood element, in fact, a cultivator can’t lack any element. So rather than saying it’s of wood element, it’s better to say that the wood elemental spiritual root is the most prominent.
But when he was tested, the testing cultivator told him that his water and wind roots were only slightly worse than his wood root.
And while roots mattered, the talent in spells was a different matter.
"My talent in blood and vitality spells have been the best, but the former is rather unorthodox and usually mastered by demon cultivators, which is why father told me to not reveal it.
Since blood is 50% made of water, I might have talent in water control, and since wood is the main element of vitality, I should also have some talent in that part."
He naturally knew that the best way was to learn spells like Blood Control or Vitality Control, but the former was unorthodox while the latter didn’t even exist. He could only look to learning them later.
Turning away from these five control arts, he looked at the other five spells, five battle spells –
"Fire Arrow, Earth Armour, Water Chain, Wind Rush, Wood Recovery.
These are the five elemental spells, commonly learned by every cultivator.
Based on your roots and talent, you will be stronger in offense, defense, crowd control, movement or healing.
Just these five spells already separate countless cultivators into different categories..."
Fengyu knew that cultivation was an inheritance art – the longer and older an inheritance was, the better one could cultivate.
These five spells are public inheritance, refined for countless years until they came out on top... at least in this region, they were the best.
"Fire Arrow forms an arrow of fire, its precise yet explosive. Among fire spells, it’s easy to learn and at higher stages of comprehension, you can cast it while running away or when chasing an enemy, making it relatively versatile.
Earth Armour – gather earth power and form an earthen armour on your body, which is comparable to a mediocre low-grade first-stage protective weapon. After casting it, it will last for up to an hour if it’s not destroyed, making it a great passive protective shield.
Water Chain, using the endless flow of water to create an interlocked chain that’s difficult to destroy. Only a strong sudden explosive power can penetrate the chain, else, the enemy will be bound by it as long as caster has spiritual power.
Wind Rush is the most versatile movement spell among wind spells. It fastens the movement of wind around you, making it seem like you’re being boosted by the wind. Whether for short dodges or longer escapes, it’s good for both.
Wood Recovery uses the inherent vitality of wood to quickly recover. Simply by absorbing the wood elemental power into your body, it boosts your body’s self-recovery function and allows for a swift recovery.
These five spells are truly great. Even if one is weaker in one of the spells, one should still try to learn at least three of them.
For me, my wood root is prominent, so learning the recovery spell will be easiest, followed by Wind Rush and Water Chain.
Alas, they say that to be able to fight properly, one needs to master at least two of the three spells of fire, earth and wind.
Now it seems my fighting prowess will be too low to fight others..."
But when he thought of his cultivation progress, he simply smiled and shook his head.
Based on his cultivation, there really wasn’t any need to fight on a daily basis.
If he fought rarely, then he would have the time to prepare many trump-cards for each fight.
And even though his fighting prowess was weak, he could master the true supreme battle spell – running away!
"In addition, this Wood Recovery spell can be used on anyone, not just on myself. This means by learning it, I should be able to cure any small injury on my ducks.
When they run around and play, or when they eat something randomly, they might get injured for various reasons.
Hmmm..."
Suddenly, he thought of something else.
In the world of cultivation, there are numerous creation arts.
The five most prominent are simply prominent because they have great uses, but this doesn’t mean the levels of other arts are lesser.
Among them, there is one creation art revered and respected by every kind of cultivator – Spiritual Doctor!
"Using spells and techniques, you can cure any injury! The path of doctors is extremely special..."
Thinking back to his own strong talent in blood and vitality, he suddenly had a feeling.
Maybe, that path one could become his secondary profession...?
Naturally the primary profession would be... raising ducks!
