Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 305: The Sword, And Final Trial
Chapter 305: The Sword, And Final Trial
<Skill: Soul Reading (???)>
<Click to view...>
Rael pressed on it without hesitation, and soon, the skill was displayed.
—Soul Reading (???): Grants the ability to perceive the essence of a soul, revealing hidden truths, emotional states, or lingering regrets. Stronger targets or corrupted souls may fight back. Grants the ability to manually mend a soul.
"This is..." Rael’s eyes widened before closing as he let out a sigh.
"This is too vague."
It seemed similar to Primordial Sight, but unlike that skill, this one was soul-related.
I guess it goes by the theme of reaper, Rael mused. Though, I’m not really sure what to expect once I’m finished with these trials... will I get a robe and a scythe or something?
He didn’t ponder it for too long as the next batch of pop-ups appeared.
<Trial 2: Parallel Duel>
<Description: You have survived through the whispers. But now you must face your very own soul remnant. It has the same strength as you, yet it is not shackled by emotions.>
<Objective: Defeat your Copy.>
The moment they appeared, Rael’s vision shifted as he soon found himself in another location.
This time, it was a miniature gladiator arena under the same green sky as before.
And in front of him was a single being that looked exactly like him, but much, much calmer.
The copy held a ceremonial silver sword with all sorts of intricate designs and textures. Yet it still looked incredibly sharp.
But Rael didn’t have much time to deliberate as the copy raised its sword and appeared right in front of him before swinging down.
Rael stepped back, narrowly avoiding the strike.
Yet it wasn’t as effortless as he expected; after all, he was basically fighting himself.
So with that in mind, Rael unsheathed his sword and parried the next attack.
The clone slightly recoiled backward, but it swiftly recovered as it swung again, then again.
They exchanged swift strikes, managing to land hits from time to time.
Then, the two thrust their swords at the same time as their blades scraped past one another before piercing their chests.
-224! Critical Hit!
Yet unlike Rael, who groaned and began to tremble from the pain, the copy did nothing of the sort.
Instead, it quickly retrieved its sword and swung down, ready to decapitate Rael.
But like the previous times, his senses flared up as he twisted his body at an unnatural angle and delivered a strike straight through the copy’s heart.
-250! Fatal Hit!
It all happened so fast as the copy’s sword froze in midair.
Yet in the next moment, Rael suddenly slipped, his eyes widening as the sword resumed its trajectory.
At the last moment, Rael tilted his head slightly, causing the sword to narrowly miss his neck.
Yet it cleaved straight through his shoulder and into his lungs, nearly splitting him in half.
[HP -1,022! 42 /1,130]
<You’ve received a fatal hit!>
<You’re...>
Since the glowing sword was stuck now, Rael raised his own sword and sent a quick horizontal slash, severing the copy’s head in an instant.
-198! Fatal Hit!
<Trial 2: Parallel Duel - Complete.>
<The Final Class Trial will be announced shortly...>
Rael’s body suddenly jolted as if he had been electrified.
And yet, all of his wounds had suddenly begun to heal.
<Your HP has been restored!>
[HP +1,064! 1,130 /1,130]
Rael let out a relieved breath as he plopped down, waiting for his reward.
Yet the reward, which he was expecting to be a skill, never arrived.
Instead, he glanced over to where he had killed the copy and found that the ceremonial sword it held did not disappear.
He crouched down and grabbed it.
Immediately, it felt as if the sword merged with something within him before settling down.
And in the next moment, the silver sword in his other hand shattered.
"..."
This sword better not be absolute shit... Rael thought, inspecting it.
—Basic Reaper Sword (Rare)
Durability: 2,488/2,500
Damage: 150–331
+50 Strength
+50 Agility
+100 Constitution
<Special Effect: You can slash incorporeal beings and deal 50% more damage to them!>
His eyes widened.
No skill... but this is much better.
With that, he sheathed the Reaper sword and checked his stats.

That’s pretty solid, but I’m still dying, Rael thought with a sigh.
At least his timer wasn’t going down in this realm.
But even so, he knew things might change once he left this place.
Unless... the Reaper Class could save him, which it just might.
After just a few minutes of waiting, the final trial appeared.
<Trial 3: Reaper>
<Description: You’ve completed the most basic Reaper fortitude tests, and now, you will be sent to collect a soul.>
<Objective: Kill the individual and claim their soul.>
He barely had time to read the whole thing before his vision shifted.
Yet it returned not even a moment later as he found himself inside a city, or rather, one of the survival camps.
It was packed with people, yet not even a single person turned toward him.
It’s almost like I’m invisible... Rael thought with an amused look as he glanced down.
To his surprise, he was wearing a new pair of clothes.
He wore a white tunic with black trim, layered beneath a long black cloak that was torn at the edges. His black pants were fitted and tucked into knee-high boots.
Basically, he looked like someone straight out of a cosplay convention.
He tried to inspect the new clothes, but he was met with one simple text.
<Reaper’s Set>
—Durability: Infinite (Unbreakable)
"Huh..."
Rael decided to accept it as he looked around, remembering the trial’s contents.
He had to harvest a soul, yet it didn’t say which.
However, it only took one step for Rael to figure out.
After all, the person he was looking for had a green halo floating above their head.
Better yet...
I recognize him...
