Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 339: Becoming A Darkness Demon
Chapter 339: Becoming A Darkness Demon
"Did he give you a straw?" Lilith asked.
"...Why?"
"No reason," she said, shaking her head with a smile. "I just think you should’ve taken the straw."
Rael stared at her for a few moments before reaching into the premium shop and buying a random straw.
She raised a brow at him before turning around. "Follow me."
Then, without waiting a moment, she shot off the ground, heading upwards onto one of the floating obsidian platforms.
Rael trailed close behind, and once they finally arrived, he looked around, slightly puzzled.
The obsidian platform was completely empty, and the ground was uneven, almost as if he were standing on some sort of asteroid.
Maybe it is an asteroid? Suspended asteroid? Eh... doesn’t matter.
"Sit down anywhere and drink the potion. I’ll guide you," Lilith said.
"Sure," Rael replied plainly and sat down on the flattest spot he could find.
He uncorked the potion, then shot Lilith one last glance.
She nodded in return and gave him a thumbs-up.
Only then did he realize that the two demons had punked him by telling him to get a straw.
Rael rolled his eyes, tossed the straw aside and took a deep breath before drinking the entire potion in one go.
Immediately, it felt as if his entire throat solidified, yet that black substance continued going down his throat.
But that only lasted for a few moments as a particular pop-up flashed in front of his eyes.
<Boss Monster Exclusive Passive Effect: You are immune to crowd control effects!>
<Effect: Petrification has been resisted!>
<Effect: Polymorph has been resisted!>
<Effect: Brain Hemorrhage has been resisted!>
<Effect: Whispers of Darkness has been resisted!>
The pop-ups kept flashing with all sorts of different effects, and to no one’s surprise, he managed to resist all of them.
<Ding!>
<Darkness Demon (Rare) race option has been unlocked!>
<Do you wish to assimilate with the race? Yes / No>
<Notice: Since Darkness Demon (Rare) is a race acquired through natural means, it will not interfere with the progress of the races you acquire through the Premium Evolution perk.>
"What..." Lilith mumbled. "You’re not changing? Usually... those who drink the potion end up in weird shapes for a few minutes before settling down to normal... are you sure you’re okay?"
Rael inspected his body swiftly, then nodded.
It seems like I’m fine. The potion didn’t affect me as much because of my resistances.
But now that the option to assimilate with the race had appeared, Rael didn’t hesitate to go through with it.
He pressed "Yes," and in the next moment it felt as if a breeze had blown directly at his face.
The breeze focused on the right side of his forehead, slowly swirling as a pitch-black horn emerged.
Soon after, the strange feeling faded, replaced by a few pop-ups that appeared before him.

—As a newly awakened Darkness Demon, your body begins to adapt to unholy sustenance. You can feed on the remains of your enemies to regain strength.
1. Lesser Feed: Restore a tiny amount of HP and MP upon consuming the heart of your foe. (Scales with target’s level.)
2. Gore Tolerance: Eating monster flesh no longer causes debuffs or sickness, even if uncooked.
Seriously...? This skill is not the greatest. But I guess extra HP and MP regeneration doesn’t hurt, even if it looks slightly unappetizing.
Nevertheless, he placed his hand on his forehead and rubbed the horn. It spiraled to the right and it looked pretty cool at a glance.
However...
"How do I take this off?" Rael pulled the horn, but to no avail. "It doesn’t really suit my get-up, you know?"
He turned to Lilith for answers, but she merely stared at him, shocked.
"Um... give me just a moment," Lilith said, rubbing her temples. "You just skipped everything... the Darkness Demon transformation..."
"I have that effect on people," Rael remarked with a chuckle. "Anyways... is this horn retractable?"
Lilith finished rubbing her temples and tapped the left side of her forehead twice.
Immediately, a horn that looked identical to Rael’s burst out, but when she tapped the sharp tip again, it retracted.
Rael followed suit, tapping the tip twice. To his surprise, it worked and the horn soon retracted into his forehead.
That’s pretty neat...
"Our horns are the symbol of authority... I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or what, but you managed to obtain the horn that resembles demonic royalty," Lilith explained. "A spiraling horn... when the Demon King and Queen stand side by side, their single horns form a unified crown. It’s beautiful, but I’ve yet to see anyone be able to match it."
She approached and held out her hand.
"I was planning on casting a spell on your horn to make it seem closer to mine. By doing so, the coronation would be that much easier... but I won’t have to now. Welcome aboard, Rael. You will now have to carry the same burdens as me. But only if you truly wish to rule over the Demonic Lands."
A faint smile appeared on Rael’s face. "I do, but I want you to know that I won’t always be around. The universe is vast and I’m planning on exploring it. You know how it is."
Lilith sighed. "I see... Well, the demons don’t need much management. All we rulers need to take care of is the senseless fighting within our region. That is all. I have the finest men handling the political side of things."
Rael nodded when, all of a sudden, he froze. "You... you did mention coronation. As in, public coronation?"
"Of course?" Lilith tilted her head. "I told you I don’t want any leeches. So if you truly want to make this official, then we need to do this coronation the demonic way."
She leaned in with a warm smile.
"If you stand by my side like this... demons will talk. In our realm, this would mean more than just ruling together."
He knew what she was insinuating. But for now, he wasn’t open to another marriage, especially knowing it could turn into something deeper later on.
So, this coronation would be nothing but a political ploy.
Therefore...
"Let’s get the coronation going, shall we?"
