Re-Overlord: I Can Acquire Anything!-Chapter 253: The Ashes of Azure
The border world of Krysalon Prime of Azure Sovereignty was already crumbling.
Mountains had split open under the weight of armies clashing, and skies had burned away under the endless bombardment of Oynstar's divine fleets. What once shimmered as a crystalline jewel of the Azure Sovereignty now cracked like fragile glass, its atmosphere bleeding flames and void storms.
Across orbit, suns trembled. Stars erupted prematurely into novas as Oynstar's war engines tore through the border lines. Cosmic firestorms spread like rivers of annihilation, drowning entire planetary belts in ruin. The war had begun, not with sieges, but with explosions that rattled even the bones of Celestials.
At the very forefront stood Igaris Vance, Emperor of Oynstar, Celestial beyond comprehension. Draped in black and gold, the Infinite Law Tree unfurled behind him, roots and branches stretching into eternity. Its glow pierced every soldier's heart, igniting their will with fire.
"March," he said, and millions obeyed.
---
The Azure Sovereignty had arrayed its border armies across vast star-fortresses carved from sapphire. Each fortress glowed with prism shields, bending attacks away and reflecting cosmic rays. At their head flew Crown Prince Kael, blazing with crystal fire, and the Princess Lithina, armored in a gown of mirrored glass that split light into blinding lances.
Kael raised his war-spear and shouted into the void, his voice carried through divine runes.
"Let Oynstar crash against our walls. Azure blood has never fallen, and it will not begin today!"
The soldiers roared, millions of voices strong. Yet in their hearts, the shadow of Igaris's arrival coiled tight.
The Oynstar armada struck like a storm. Dragons howled, their wings igniting novas. Necrotic legions surged forth under Malthius's command, wielding bone-fire cannons. Jian Longchen's sword corps slashed entire fleets apart with single sweeping formations. Shadow Reaper's mecha legions unleashed black-hole warheads that folded crystal fleets into nothingness.
But the true terror began when Igaris's wives descended.
Evernight, Mistress of Twilight
Among them floated Evernight, her long hair flowing like rivers of starlit obsidian, her eyes burning with both holiness and death. From one hand, halos of divine radiance flared, summoning legions of seraphs. From the other, shadows writhed into skeletal monstrosities.
Her voice sang across the battlefield, both hymn and dirge.
"Rise for me. Fall for me. All is mine, both light and dark."
An army of half-divine, half-undead warriors surged into being, their auras collapsing Azure formations instantly. A Celestial-ranked Azure General tried to resist, wielding crystallized thunder, but Evernight raised her hand. One half of her power burned him to ash in holy light, the other half dragged his soul screaming into darkness.
Rosella, who watched from the command ship, trembled.
"She commands both heaven and hell…" she whispered. "Who… who are these women around him?"
Then came Shirley, the Heavenly Enchantress. Her beauty was as blinding as the dawn, her zither resting across her knees as she sat on a lotus conjured from pure law. Her slender fingers danced across strings, and the music that followed was not merely sound but divine law incarnate.
A fleet of Transcendental Masters surged toward her, their minds fortified with runic seals. They thought themselves immune to charm. But as her song unfolded, their seals shattered like fragile paper. Their eyes glazed over, weapons slipping from their hands as they turned against their own comrades, kneeling in surrender before her melody.
The Azure Princess Lyra gasped, fury and fear twisting her face.
"That song… it binds souls!"
But Shirley's tune only grew sweeter, flowing into every corner of the battlefield, making Oynstar's soldiers move with effortless synchronization.
A shadow stirred among the stars as Diva appeared, draped in silken veils that shimmered like constellations. Her eyes were pools of endless dream, and as she opened her lips to whisper, the void itself rippled.
The enemies who looked upon her suddenly staggered, their bodies trembling as unseen chains pulled them into a different realm. A realm of her making.
In her Dream Realm, mountains were made of illusions, skies wept rivers of blood, and enemies wandered forever in despair. She plucked a single thread of her dream, and those trapped within fell dead in reality, their minds consumed.
One Azure Commander cried out, "What sorcery is this?!" before collapsing, his spirit lost to her labyrinth.
Diva smiled faintly, her words soft as lullabies.
"Sleep, and never wake."
The battlefield blazed with the presence of more of Igaris's wives.
Selene, the Moonblade Empress, unleashed arcs of lunar light that split star-fortresses in half.
Isolde, the Frost Queen, froze fleets in crystalline icebergs that drifted across the void.
Yurina, the Flame Siren, sang firestorms into existence, devouring even stellar reactors.
Liora, Mistress of Beasts, commanded titanic astral beasts that ripped warships apart like toys.
Each of them was more beautiful, more terrible, more divine than the last. Rosella's chest tightened as she counted them. Five… then ten… then twenty… until twenty-six in total stood at Igaris's side.
Rosella, stationed at the observation deck behind Igaris, felt her breath falter. Her gaze locked on the impossible sight.
So many of them. So beautiful. So overwhelming. Each looked at Igaris not as soldiers looked to a commander, but as something far more intimate. Their eyes shone with belonging. Their voices carried devotion.
She gripped the railing until her knuckles whitened. "Who… who are they…?" she whispered.
Jealousy, awe, and dread tangled within her chest. She had suspected Igaris hid secrets, but never had she imagined he would be surrounded by women who could shake empires on their own. Her heart ached with unspoken questions. Was she, Rosella, just another among countless?
But the battlefield allowed her no time to dwell.
The Azure Princess led her forces, summoning crystal titans that strode across the field like living mountains. She clashed with one of Igaris' wives, a woman crowned with flames who laughed as titans melted beneath her touch. The Princess screamed in fury, but her attacks shattered like glass before a hurricane.
Crown Prince Kael charged on a dragon of sapphire crystal, his blade flashing with condensed starfire. He struck at another wife, one clad in void-black armor, who parried with a single graceful motion. Kael roared, hurling strikes that could level planets, but his opponent dismantled his assault with calm precision, forcing him back with every exchange.
The heirs of Azure found themselves humiliated. Their pride cracked, their confidence bled. Before them stood not simple allies, but women who had stood beside Igaris through wars and worlds.
On the battlefield, whispers spread. Soldiers from both sides began to murmur in awe.
"Those women… are they his?"
"No, it cannot be. Twenty-six wives? Impossible."
"Impossible… yet undeniable."
The wives pressed forward, their combined strength fracturing the morale of Azure's forces.
And at the heart of it all, Igaris strode across the ruined heavens to meet the Azure Emperor himself.
The Emperor descended in blinding sapphire radiance, Fire and Wind Laws entwining into storms of crystalline flame. His voice thundered across the battlefield.
"Invader! You dare to bring your corruption to my dominion? You will shatter before the will of Sovereignty!"
Igaris met him without flinching. His Infinite Tree spread wide behind him, each branch a Law perfected, each root an unbreakable foundation. He raised a single hand, and the Emperor's storms parted as if swept aside by inevitability.
"It is you who dared to attack us first," Igaris said, his tone calm, "I am just doing my as their protector."
"BOOOOM!"
They clashed.
The Azure Emperor unleashed tsunamis of wind and fire, tearing through fleets like paper. Yet Igaris' Laws boundless and absolute consumed them. Ruination dissolved the flame. Space folded, swallowing the wind. His Godslayer Sword Style cut apart crystal shields like parchment. His World Destroying Finger pierced through planetary bastions, reducing them to dust.
The Emperor staggered, blood spilling as shards of crystal broke from his flesh. His eyes, once cold and unyielding, flickered with the dawning horror of defeat.
"You… what are you…"
Igaris advanced, golden gaze burning like judgment itself. "I am the end of your reign."
With a sweep of his hand, he shattered the Emperor's chestplate, forcing him to his knees.
The Azure Sovereignty trembled. Their fleets faltered. Their armies despaired. The sight of their Emperor humbled was enough to shake their foundation.
And then suddenly… the void shifted.
A ripple spread across the battlefield, silencing even the cries of war. From the deepest expanse of the Azure realm, a figure walked upon the void as though it were calm water. His head was bald, his robes plain, his expression serene. Yet his presence eclipsed armies, his aura silenced Laws themselves.
He pressed his palms together and bowed faintly toward Igaris.
"Amitabha," the monk intoned, voice gentle as spring wind. "The path of conquest is filled with suffering, young one. You rise too swiftly, and in your rise, you tread upon karma unweighed. Tell me… will you continue down this path of endless fire, or will you seek release?"
Even Igaris' generals stilled. Even the Infinite Tree's branches quivered.
The monk's calm was a storm hidden beneath silence. He was a Law Master of Celestial rank, and his eyes reflected an eternity of stillness.
Igaris looked at him, unshaken.
At last, he smiled. "If the path I tread is fire, then let the universe burn brighter."
The monk's eyes closed in quiet prayer. "Then, child, I shall be your trial."
And the stars themselves bent in anticipation of their clash.
