Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 60: Since When Did They Become Close?
Chapter 60: Since When Did They Become Close?
"My girlfriend?" Max asked, bewildered.
"Yeah, you need to teach your girl, Beatrix. She came here to confront me because she said I still like you. Didn’t I mention specifically to you that I’ve given up on you, Max?"
Max was surprised to hear Aurora’s words. Since when did he become Beatrix’s boyfriend?
"Wait, wait! Aurora, did you just say Beatrix is my girlfriend?" Max asked again. He glanced at Beatrix beside him and pushed her hand away before turning to look at Aurora.
Aurora stifled a laugh as she watched Beatrix’s panic.
"Why are you asking me, Max? You’re the one who’s going out with her," Aurora said, pretending to be confused.
"She is not my girlfriend. I’ve never been in a relationship with her!" Max’s firm words made Beatrix’s face turn red. "Believe me, Auro..."
"Max, stop it! Talk to someone who cares." Aurora interrupted. "I, for one, don’t care if you have any relationship with her," she added, glancing at Josh and David, signaling them to leave.
Max still felt confused hearing Aurora’s words.
’Why did she think I was dating Beatrix?’ he wondered as he watched her walk away.
He shouted, "Hey Aurora, what are you talking about? I’m not dating anyone. I don’t have a relationship with Beatrix, okay? Please believe me!"
Max’s loud voice drew the whispers of other students, who looked at Beatrix with pity.
Clenching his hands tightly after seeing Aurora walk away without a care for what he had said, Max turned to Beatrix.
"Did you tell Aurora that we are dating?" he asked, anger flashing in his gaze, enough to send a shiver down Beatrix’s spine.
Beatrix wished she could disappear from that place after hearing Max’s question. Everyone there knew she had lied, and what was even worse was that Max knew it, too.
The person who had put her in this situation had already disappeared, which fueled her anger even more.
’Aurora Spencer! How dare you put me in this humiliating position? Just wait; I won’t let you get away with this... I promise!’
"What the hell, Beatrix? Why did you suddenly lose your voice?" Max snapped.
"Max, let me explain," Beatrix’s voice trembled as she grabbed Max’s hand. She continued even though Max tried to push her away. "Max, I never said that. She is trying to humiliate me. I never claimed that I’m your girlfriend..."
Max narrowed his eyes at Beatrix, trying to find any hint of whether she was lying. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"If you don’t believe me, you can ask my friends," she said, tightening her grip on Max’s hand as she continued to persuade him. "Aurora, who tries to slander me. She still has feelings for you, whether you believe it or not, Max..."
Beatrix pretended to wipe away her fake tears while inwardly cursing Aurora.
Max felt confused hearing her convincing words.
He noticed that Beatrix’s eyes looked red, leaving him uncertain about who was lying and who was telling the truth.
...
Many eyes watched as Aurora left the cafeteria. Those who gossiped about her and looked at her with pity—even some who silently cursed her—did not faze her.
She didn’t care about any of them.
Her steps were steady as she answered David’s astonished questions about how she managed to stay calm while dealing with Beatrix and her friends.
"Are you asking me why I didn’t slap her?" Aurora glanced at David, who looked curiously back at her.
"Yes, I want to know. I’m also curious why you didn’t ask Josh or me to handle them."
"Why should I? I refuse to argue with brainless people like Beatrix and her minions, and this is also regardless of their gender," Aurora replied calmly.
David instantly laughed, amused by Aurora’s words, and continued following her to the parking lot.
"Seriously, Aurora, I’m impressed by your new personality. You look better this way than before," David complimented casually. However, his words piqued Josh’s curiosity.
Josh glanced at Aurora before asking David, "Has Aurora always been bullied?"
David sighed profoundly and casually placed his hand on Josh’s shoulder. His simple gesture conveyed his willingness and openness to having Josh as his best friend.
Josh jumped in surprise at the physical contact. He turned and looked sharply, annoyed, at David’s hand resting on his shoulder.
’Since when did this kid become so daring with me?’ Josh thought, nearly ready to swat David’s hand away, but the following words distracted him.
"Seriously, Josh? Aurora didn’t tell you about it?!" David asked, narrowing his eyes as a faint smile flickered on his lips.
"What?" Josh’s brow slowly raised, his gaze sharp enough to chill David. How could this kid make him even more curious? "Can you just answer me without turning the question back on me?"
David quickly pulled his hand away from Josh’s shoulder, fearing that Josh might discard him.
"Ugh, well, Josh, my bro... I thought you were special in Aurora’s eyes. Still, it seems you’re not..." he chuckled, pleased, knowing Aurora wasn’t close enough to Josh to reveal her true personality.
"It seems you’ve issued a silent invitation for me to hit you, Dave..." Josh felt powerless in front of this kid.
"Bwahaha, relax, man! Why do you look so annoyed?" David was even happier to tease Josh.
While Josh and David conversed like best friends, Aurora remained speechless. ’Gosh, when did these two become so close?’
Aurora couldn’t believe what she was witnessing. Just two weeks ago, it seemed like the two of them were ready to kill each other the moment they met. But now? They looked like best friends.
’Did they meet behind my back and become this close?’ she muttered softly, watching them before interrupting their conversation.
"Josh, David, you guys should go to the café to continue talking..." She smiled at them and added, "I won’t bother you; I must go now. Bye!"
Without waiting for their response, Aurora turned around and walked away, leaving both men in shock.
Josh gently patted David’s shoulder before hurrying after Aurora.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," Josh said, quickening his pace toward the car.
"It’s fine! Just hurry, I’m running late," she replied with a smile.
