Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate-Chapter 73: Complete Defeat
Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Complete Defeat
"Sophie, your knight in shining armor is here to pick you up!" Colleagues called out to Sophie Wilson with a laugh as soon as Charles Seymour appeared at the office.
"Hey hey... Sophie, your guy is really on top of things, picking you up on time," a colleague nearby teased with a smile.
While packing her things, Sophie Wilson joked back, "Well, I can’t help it. I’m just so amazing, he’s afraid someone might snatch me away."
Her shameless boast drew a chorus of boos from the colleagues.
Yet Charles Seymour, with a slightly serious expression, said in a deep voice, "Sophie is great!"
Sophie really is excellent, so why are they booing?
His serious demeanor made the colleagues laugh. This guy is really honest.
"All right, all right, my guy is simple and honest, don’t bully him," Sophie Wilson "warned" them.
"Oh, oh... you’re defending him..." a colleague who was close to Sophie teased with a wink.
"Of course, if I don’t protect my own, who will I protect?" Sophie finished packing her stuff, raised an eyebrow, "Not chatting with you guys anymore, I’m off, bye."
On the way, Charles Seymour didn’t say a word to Sophie Wilson, the elevator was crowded, and there were many people in the hallway, not a good time to talk.
Besides, Charles isn’t someone who likes to chatter endlessly.
When they got to the car, Charles opened the door for Sophie, and just as she sat in, four words softly drifted over her head, "I protect you."
The voice was so light that Sophie thought she was imagining it.
Baffled, she looked up to see Charles nonchalantly closing the car door, calmly walking around to the other side to get in, leaving Sophie a bit stunned...
So, was she imagining things just now?
But why did she suddenly have that illusion?
Was it because she wanted a response from Charles too badly?
It couldn’t be.
She should know his feelings for her, right?
As her mind was in a jumble, Sophie noticed Charles’s slightly blushing earlobe and instantly understood.
Someone has switched back from being openly flirtatious to being secretive.
"Why are you looking at me?" Charles asked Sophie with an air of calmness, as if nothing had happened, as if he hadn’t said anything.
If it weren’t for the telling evidence of his blushing ear, Sophie might have been fooled by his composure!
How dare he ask her that?
Why doesn’t he ask himself what he just did?
In her mind, the Little Demon, with black horns and a black pitchfork, was screaming wildly, "Teach him a lesson! Teach him! Teach him!"
So, Sophie followed her "sinful" thought and slowly said, "I was just thinking, what if someone was to snatch me away?"
Wouldn’t it be better to just admit you like me?
Why switch between being openly and secretly flirtatious, isn’t it tiring?
"Snatch away?" Charles let out a disdainful chuckle, and a dark storm suddenly gathered in the car, swirling with icy wind and snow, completely blocking out the over thirty degrees Celsius heat outside.
"That would depend on whether they have the fate for it." Charles spoke each word clearly and calmly, yet each word landed like a thousand-pound boulder, making one’s heart tremble violently.
In the front, the driver was so scared he broke into a cold sweat; even though he’d survived gunfights, he couldn’t withstand Charles Seymour’s aura.
Cold sweat was trickling down.
As for the Little Demon in Sophie’s heart... the Little Demon met its master from hell... and there were only two words—complete defeat.
