Chapter 718 -719: Sea of Oblivion (Second Update!)
“Good, with this Blood God Stone, Wukong, you can rest assured when taking the Three Lives Stone!”
Yama Heavenly Son laughed, stretching out his hand to receive the Blood God Stone and sensed it before he praised, “What a formidable regeneration power! This Blood God Stone contains the power of both the Regeneration Great Dao and the Blood Great Dao. No wonder it can keep the Sea of Blood eternally undiminished; it truly is a rare Supreme Treasure! Sadly, it seems that it can only be used for the Sea of Blood…”
“Yama, old brother, what are you muttering about?”
Listening to Yama Heavenly Son’s sotto voce, Sun Wukong couldn’t help but frown.
“It’s nothing.”
Yama Heavenly Son lifted his head and said to Sun Wukong, “Wukong, soon you will take the Three Lives Stone, hold it in your hand, and immediately enter the Oblivion. I will use this Blood God Stone to seal the exit. If you want to come out, cast this Taoist Magic Decree on the seal at the exit, and I’ll know and let you out.”
“Additionally, to sense the memories stored in the Sea of Oblivion using the Three Lives Stone, you must activate it with Divine Soul Power and use the essential spirit of the memory subject as a guide. You already have the essential spirit, but you must be careful with using the Divine Soul Power. Don’t exhaust too much at once, or else it will cause instability in your Dao Foundation, leading to a regression in cultivation! Do you understand?”
“I understand! Many thanks, old brother Yama! But, the Three Lives Stone is so large, how can I hold it in my hand?”
Sun Wukong nodded, then pointed at the over-one-person-tall Three Lives Stone with a bit of confusion.
“Wukong, you can manipulate space within your sleeves, is this trivial matter still something I need to teach you?”
Yama Heavenly Son looked at Sun Wukong somewhat amusedly, and Sun Wukong slapped his forehead, right, what a silly question he had asked!
Having already grasped the Space-Time Great Dao, making something out of nothing, the world within one’s palm, shrinking this over-one-person-tall Three Lives Stone down to the size of a palm and holding it was easier said than done.
Without any further ado, Sun Wukong stretched out his hand toward the Three Lives Stone and sucked it in. Instantly, he shrank the Three Lives Stone to palm size and absorbed it into his hand. As soon as the Three Lives Stone left, the sound of huge waves suddenly erupted from where it had been previously situated, revealing a small hole that then rapidly expanded. Torrential waters from the Sea of Oblivion gushed from within.
“Such strong corrosiveness!”
The moment the water from the Sea of Oblivion touched him, Sun Wukong frowned. He felt an extremely strong corrosive force invading his body. It wasn’t for his ability to refine it with Chaos Primordial Force, he would have had to erect a Protective Shield to defend against it.
Yama Heavenly Son was right; those without Quasi-Saint level cultivation simply couldn’t withstand the corrosive power of the Sea of Oblivion!
“What are you waiting for, hurry up and get in there!”
Yama Heavenly Son urged him on, and only then did Sun Wukong snap out of his shock and quickly flashed into the hole. Yama Heavenly Son threw the Blood God Stone into the hole, shooting a Dharma Decree from his hand onto the Blood God Stone, causing it to rapidly expand and firmly seal the entire hole, blocking the flow of the waters of the Sea of Oblivion.
“Wukong, I’ve done all I can to help you; success now depends on you alone!”
A long, drawn-out sigh emanated from Yama Heavenly Son as he looked once more at the Blood God Stone standing atop the platform. He then sat down cross-legged and began to meditate.
…
In the Sea of Oblivion.
Sun Wukong swam against the current, his body shaking as he tried to break through the surface and escape contact with the water. To his surprise, he found that the moment he left the surface, the gravity instantly increased nearly twentyfold, crushing him back into the water with a “plop.”
“This Sea of Oblivion is really strange! How can there be such strong gravity?”
Once he fell back into the water, the intense gravity immediately disappeared, leaving Sun Wukong speechless. He used the Power of the Space-Time Great Dao’s Laws to sense around and discovered that the gravity in the space where the Sea of Oblivion was located was originally twenty times that of the Three Realms. It was only because of the Sea of Oblivion that the strong gravity was offset, making it to where one couldn’t feel the gravity while in the water, but would immediately feel it upon leaving the surface.
“Great, that means I can only stay in the sea!”
Shrugging his shoulders, Sun Wukong realized with clarity that he had two options: either withstand the twentyfold gravity and fly in the air, or endure the immense corrosive power of the Sea of Oblivion’s water. If neither was possible, there was only one outcome: to be corroded into dregs by the powerful corrosive force of the water, leaving no bones behind!
Fortunately, the Sea of Oblivion only had strong corrosive properties and didn’t have any sea monsters living in it, or else…
Whoosh!
Before Sun Wukong could finish his thought, a rustling of water suddenly came from the depths, and his expression changed drastically. He burst out of the water again just in time to see a large fish with sharp teeth, like a shark, surge up from the depths and snap at the air before falling back into the water.
Sun Wukong saw its pale white teeth clearly, its eyes void of life and filled with chaos, unlike the strange fish from the Wind Thunder Pond. He couldn’t even sense any life energy from it.
“You really shouldn’t talk about spirits at night – whatever you mention comes to life!”
Sun Wukong began to smile wryly. His physical body was as strong as that of a Heavenly Dao Saint and his Chaos Battle Body’s regeneration ability was top-notch, but even so, he didn’t want to entangle with a fish that seemed as dead as an object. Who knew how many more of these fish were in the Sea of Oblivion?
Sun Wukong hadn’t forgotten that he had entered the Sea of Oblivion to seek the memories of Jiang Liu’er from ten lifetimes ago when he was the Golden Cicada Child, not to fight with these fish to improve his combat abilities.
Taking a deep breath, Sun Wukong resisted the terrifying twentyfold gravity with all his might, floating dozens of feet above the sea surface.
Although resisting twenty times the force of gravity was somewhat difficult with Sun Wukong’s current strength, it was not impossible. He had been caught off guard before, which is why he had been pressed back into the Sea of Oblivion, but now, with intentional resistance, he managed to hold steady.
Sun Wukong circulated the Chaos Primordial Force inside his body and, while carrying the twentyfold gravity, took out a thread of Jiang Liu’er’s soul and placed it upon the Oblivion Stone in his hand. Following the method taught by the Yama Heavenly Son, he began to activate it. Seeking the memories of the Golden Cicada Child from ten lifetimes prior, he set his target on the tenth life before the present one, skipping over all the others.
There was no reaction. The Oblivion Stone showed no response, indicating that within ten miles, there was no memory from the lifetime of the Golden Cicada Child. Although the Oblivion Stone could sense specific past life memories, its range was only ten miles, and judging by the expanse of the Sea of Oblivion, which seemed boundless, it was at least a million miles across. Even with the aid of the Oblivion Stone, it felt like searching for a needle in a haystack!
Now, he could only take it one step at a time and rely on luck. Who knows, maybe the next moment, there might be a reaction, right?
