Chapter 468: Chapter 468: I Like You

Elias Sinclair heard Quinn Lockwood’s words, and a barely noticeable arc appeared at the corner of his mouth. However, this was already the best smile he could muster with all his strength.

"You care about me, don’t you?" The man almost whispered these words, and the sound quickly vanished into the wind, yet Quinn Lockwood caught them clearly.

Quinn Lockwood’s tears rolled down her cheeks and chin, leaving a large stain on Elias Sinclair’s shirt.

"I care, I do care. Please, you must hold on, the rescue team will be here soon."

"Elias Sinclair, listen to me. I forbid you to close your eyes, do you hear me? Keep your eyes on me; don’t close them."

The emotions were already on the verge of collapse.

Quinn Lockwood’s slightly cool hand caressed Elias Sinclair’s face, trying to support his gradually drooping eyelids.

"Okay, I won’t sleep." The man tried to lift his eyelids but once again could only manage to close them slightly.

Perhaps it was Quinn Lockwood’s heartbreaking sobs, Elias Sinclair moved his eyelids a few times but still persisted in keeping them open.

"If I come out of this unharmed, could you promise not to mention divorce again?" Elias Sinclair’s lips moved slightly; his voice was gentle, intertwining with the cool night breeze and falling into Quinn Lockwood’s ears.

Though it was a powerless and weak question, Quinn Lockwood heard the anticipation and tenderness blended within.

The heart seemed to be pierced by something instantly.

It wasn’t painful but was enveloped by a soft feeling at the moment of being pierced, radiating comforting warmth and happiness.

"I won’t, I won’t leave you, nor do I want to leave you."

"Elias Sinclair, I like you, the kind that even I have no control over."

"I’ve never suffered so much because of anyone, nor have I missed someone to the point of being completely unaware of what I’m doing, nor have I ever been this jealous to the point of madness because of anyone." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Quinn Lockwood, unable to tightly embrace Elias Sinclair because of fear of touching his wound, could only grasp his clothes firmly.

She doesn’t want to keep these feelings and words buried inside any longer.

She likes Elias Sinclair, even loves him, she could say.

As long as Elias Sinclair is safe, as long as she can be with him, Quinn Lockwood is willing to do anything, even if it means quitting the entertainment industry, even if it means staying at home obediently to prepare his meals three times a day.

"Savannah Lowell, I knew..." Elias Sinclair’s expression suddenly became incredibly soft and satisfied, raising his hand to hold Quinn Lockwood’s hand, but it fell directly upon touching.

He has held on for so long, it’s enough.

Hearing those words was enough.

"Elias Sinclair, Elias Sinclair, open your eyes! Look at me, please, I’m begging you, open your eyes!"

The moment Elias Sinclair lost consciousness, Quinn Lockwood felt the blood in her body flowing backward; her mind seemed to explode, or as if it was being split open by countless bolts of lightning.

The rescue helicopter descends within seconds, with Professor Angus leading a team of doctors swiftly and cautiously addressing Elias Sinclair’s injuries.

Quinn Lockwood doesn’t even know how she ended up on the helicopter; her mind only registers Elias Sinclair lying in front of her, his face as pale as paper.

At the Sinclair Group’s medical base, Quinn Lockwood almost has no strength left to stand; she remains in a state of high tension and fear, with Angus even worrying she might faint at any moment.

"No, I’m fine, you don’t need to worry about me, quickly, go inside and take care of Elias." Quinn Lockwood rejects Angus’s suggestion to rest, choosing instead to stand at the operating room door, waiting for news from inside.

"Madam, I know you’re worried about Mr. Sinclair, but rest assured, the bullet didn’t hit any vital area; it only penetrated the skin at his waist. We’ve successfully removed the bullet, and the final stitching is currently underway."

"Your blood pressure is too low now; if you don’t rest, I’m afraid you’ll collapse." Angus had arranged for an assistant to measure Quinn Lockwood’s basic vital signs the moment they arrived at the hospital, because her complexion was as pale as the blood-loss afflicted Mr. Sinclair’s.

"She should have collapsed." Just as Angus’s words faded, a voice filled with anger and seriousness came from the corridor.

Mrs. Sinclair and Melody Shepherd hurriedly approached, looking at Quinn Lockwood with eyes full of spite, as if they wanted to eat her alive.

"Why wasn’t it you who got hurt, Savannah Lowell, I tell you, I don’t care if you’re a lady from the Lowell Family or a popular celebrity, if anything happens to my son, I will definitely make you pay." Mrs. Sinclair looked at Quinn Lockwood, her usual dignified and elegant face now filled with aggression.

Melody Shepherd, seeing Mrs. Sinclair’s emotional state, gently soothed her back. Her gaze towards Quinn Lockwood also carried resentment.

Quinn Lockwood bowed her head, her lips moving as if wanting to say something, but ultimately remained silent.

"Speak up, why is my son hurt, and why were you there? Was it because of you? Why are you standing here unscathed while Elias is the one hurt!"

Mrs. Sinclair was already displeased with Quinn Lockwood because of those photos, and upon learning that Elias Sinclair was injured while with Quinn, she didn’t hesitate to place all blame on Quinn Lockwood.

Of course, Melody Shepherd played a role in fanning these flames.

"I..." Quinn Lockwood opened her mouth. As soon as she uttered the first syllable, the door to the operating room opened.

Elias Sinclair was connected to electrodes for the electrocardiogram, with a large indwelling needle inserted in his hand. Bright red and thick blood was flowing drop by drop through the infusion tube into his body.

"Elias, Elias, how do you feel?" Mrs. Sinclair’s angry face softened instantly upon seeing Elias Sinclair, rushing to check on his condition.

Quinn Lockwood took a few steps forward, only to be pushed away by Mrs. Sinclair just as she was about to reach Elias Sinclair.

"Stay away from my son; look at the immoral things you’ve done. Stop pretending."

"It’s all because of you; had it not been for picking you up from work, my son wouldn’t have been hurt." Whenever Mrs. Sinclair thought of Melody Shepherd’s words about Elias being hurt while picking Quinn up from work, her resentment and anger towards Quinn Lockwood couldn’t be suppressed.

"It wasn’t Savannah’s fault. This was caused by a highly trained organized crime group that came looking for trouble with me." The man slightly frowned, then opened his thin lips, speaking with a cool and clear voice.
