Rebirth of the Movie Queen: Mrs. Sinclair, Please Hug Me!-Chapter 469: Flames of Jealousy
"I analyze that it should be someone who covets Sinclair Group, or a person from a company that was previously annexed by Sinclair Group, orchestrating things behind the scenes."
Elias Sinclair’s face, pale as snow, gradually regained some color. He lifted the hand not attached to an IV and reached out in Quinn Lockwood’s direction.
It was warm.
Quinn Lockwood didn’t care about Mrs. Sinclair’s attitude toward her and raised her hand to grasp Elias Sinclair’s palm. Within a moment, her familiar and powerful palm tightly enveloped her small hand, with its usual warmth.
"Elias, it’s so good... you’re okay." Quinn Lockwood’s tense, pale face instantly broke into an uncontrollable smile.
Strangely enough, even though she was clearly happy, tears rolled down her face like a broken string of pearls, dripping continuously.
Mrs. Sinclair saw the first thing Elias Sinclair did upon coming out was speak for Quinn Lockwood and even hold the hand of this daughter-in-law she didn’t like. Her already cold face became even darker, terrifyingly so.
"You’re still speaking for her? Do you not know all the things she’s been doing?" Mrs. Sinclair took a deep breath, almost unable to endure before saying these words.
Some things she didn’t want to bring to light.
Even though Quinn Lockwood crossed the line with what she did, she was, after all, the Lowell Family’s daughter, and the Lowell Family and the Sinclair Family were family friends. She had to preserve the necessary decorum.
"I know everything."
"I want some peace; you all should leave."
"Savannah can stay here with me." Elias Sinclair pulled Quinn Lockwood’s hand closer to himself, his gaze gentle and affectionate as it landed on her face. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Fine, fine, indulge her then! Maya, let’s go see your grandfather and uncle." Mrs. Sinclair tried hard to keep her emotions in check. Watching her son gaze at Quinn Lockwood made her feel very helpless.
If it wasn’t because of Savannah Lowell’s character and behavior being problematic, she wouldn’t be so troubled and trying to prevent her son.
Knowing Elias Sinclair got hurt, Grandpa Sinclair’s blood pressure shot up, barely avoiding a heart attack, and Mr. Sinclair was currently staying at home with Grandpa Sinclair, so he wasn’t at the hospital.
Before turning to leave, Mrs. Sinclair gave Quinn Lockwood a sharp glare, and although her expression was fierce, there was a fleeting hint of compassion.
Actually, when Mrs. Sinclair had just rebuked Quinn Lockwood, she saw her eyes already swollen from crying, even if Quinn Lockwood did go too far outside.
But, being the same age as her daughter, Mrs. Sinclair had long harbored a maternal affection for Quinn, putting aside subjective anger about what she had done.
If Nina Sinclair were to do such unethical things outside, Mrs. Sinclair would definitely keep her home for some proper education.
Upon getting Mrs. Sinclair’s orders, Melody Shepherd hesitated briefly but ultimately did not utter words of refusal.
Her gaze fell on Elias Sinclair holding Quinn Lockwood’s hand, instantly flashing a look of indeterminate meaning.
"Take good care of Elias." Melody Shepherd said softly to Quinn Lockwood, almost sounding like a plea.
As she turned to leave, her gentle and soft features instantly twisted, the fire of jealousy uncontrollably burning within her, consuming every corner of her body with whirlwind-like speed.
Previously, she merely thought that Elias Sinclair was slightly more favorable towards Quinn Lockwood; now it’s entirely different.
Not just slightly better; Quinn Lockwood has become extremely special to Elias Sinclair.
Melody Shepherd had never seen Elias Sinclair have such a gentle and devoted look towards someone; although these emotions were not easy to capture beneath Elias Sinclair’s cold exterior, Melody caught them clearly.
Gentleness, deep affection, attachment, even love...
These emotions that Elias Sinclair had never expressed to her, appear unreservedly and openly with Quinn Lockwood.
How could this be?
How could Elias fall in love with someone else?
Compared to Elias Sinclair’s feelings for Quinn Lockwood, Melody Shepherd suddenly felt that Elias Sinclair never loved her, not even liking her.
No, impossible, Elias loves me; this must be my illusion.
Melody Shepherd bit down tightly on her lip, walking unsteadily alongside Mrs. Sinclair, nearly missing a step on the stairs in her distraction.
"Maya, are you alright?" Mrs. Sinclair noticed something was off with Melody Shepherd, grabbing her arm with concern.
"I’m fine, Auntie, I’m just worried about Elias..." Melody Shepherd’s expression returned the moment Mrs. Sinclair spoke.
She lowered her head slightly, discreetly lifting her gaze towards Mrs. Sinclair. Her bright, watery eyes could move anyone who took a glance with their sadness and worry.
Mrs. Sinclair sighed deeply, shaking her head with helplessness, gently patting Melody Shepherd’s shoulder.
"Good child, you are still the best." Mrs. Sinclair hesitated for a moment before saying this, her expression towards Melody Shepherd mixed with some unspoken sentiment, seemingly regret within comfort.
Melody Shepherd did not say anything further but pressed her lips together and wrapped her arm around Mrs. Sinclair’s. The fire of jealousy hidden within her heart was like an undercurrent beneath the abyss.
On the seemingly calm surface lies a tidal wave ready to erupt and sweep across.
As she was about to move forward again, she reluctantly turned her head for a glance.
Mrs. Sinclair’s eyes flashed with a complex light but ultimately did not speak.
Meanwhile, Elias Sinclair, already under the care of doctors and nurses, returned to the private ward.
The man, though somewhat better in color, still looked weak from losing lots of blood.
"Savannah Lowell."
"Do you remember the promise you made to me before?" The man, lying on the hospital bed, spoke hush-toned; his voice carrying a different soft quality than usual.
Quinn Lockwood was adjusting Elias Sinclair’s bed height; hearing this question, she tilted her head with some confusion.
Elias Sinclair’s face softened, gently patting the bedside, indicating for Quinn Lockwood to sit down.
The woman standing at the foot of the bed naturally received this signal. Though she couldn’t recall what Elias Sinclair was referring to, she obediently moved over to sit down.
"You said, if I remain safe and sound, you’d never bring up divorce again." The man curved a slight smile along the edge of his lips, his gaze affectionate and gentle.
Quinn Lockwood was surprised Elias Sinclair meant this, and was momentarily stunned.
Actually, she had almost forgotten about this sentence, but upon Elias Sinclair reminding her, Quinn Lockwood recalled indeed under urgency promising Elias Sinclair that very request.
