Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 57: Ch : Guardian of the Temple
"Let’s go back. It is not safe here... Whaa, I don’t want to be here anymore..."
Clara declared as she bowed her head. Her behaviour was understandable but not justified at the current moment.
"Clara, open your eyes and see. This is not a ghost, but a monster that has been sealed and is trying to come out of the seal. You have faced monsters before, so what are you ever afraid of?"
Andrew asked, and Clara blinked as she looked at him once and then at the claw that was slowly crawling out to show more of its body.
"Ohhhh, so that’s a beast phew... That changes things. I will help you hold it back."
Clara declared before she quickly used her powers to hold the beast back.
It struggled and kept breaking off the chains, and it did not take long before it clawed its way out completely and let out a growl.
"Ugh, I think we were unsuccessful... So, are we going to fight it head-on?"
Clara asked while tightening her fists. The beast glowed and immediately darted toward Clara. It was faster than she could keep track of, but luckily, Seraphina pulled her out of harm’s way.
The monster recognized that Seraphina was the stronger prey and went after her, causing her to take out her sword and use it to block those sharp claws.
"Sera, can you use your abilities?"
Andrew asked, watching Seraphina struggling.
"Tsk, if I could, then this would have been a piece of cake. Unfortunately, they are all sealed unless I become a player."
She complained back as she pushed the monster back. Thankfully, she still had her superior stats.
Andrew immediately looked at the boss in front of him and cursed.
[Enemy Name: Guardian of the Temple (Lv 26)]
It confirmed that Seraphina was high-level enough to likely touch the 30s. That was the only kind of balance that would allow such a situation to occur.
The monster noticed Andrew and Clara quickly and changed its target toward Clara. Andrew threw a shield in front of her, giving Clara enough time to run toward safety. But the beast kept following after her.
Seraphina came after the monster, but it did not seem to care about her at all. It even allowed Seraphina to injure it in order to kill Clara.
’Tsk, at this rate, the enemy will not stop until either it dies or one of us... I feel like I have no other choice but to act as bait...’
If Andrew truly felt like his life was in danger, then he could use his cheat... but he would rather not use it here.
Still, he felt like he would be better bait compared to Clara because he would last longer.
So he used his magic to narrow down the beast’s path until it was forced to come his way. The beast did not seem to mind and decided to make Andrew its next prey.
He used his barrier to force the beast toward where he wanted it to go.
The beast let out a pain-filled howl as it was suddenly assaulted by strong magic. Before it could recover, Seraphina had already caught up to him.
Using the weight of her body to propel her sword down, she swiftly cleaved her sword into the monster’s back, causing it to howl out one last time before settling down forever.
Seraphina did not get up immediately, and she waited for the message to pop up on the screen before she got up.
[You have defeated the Guardian of the Temple. Additional EXP has been received.]
[You have leveled up]
[Player Name: Mark Dawson (Level 21)]
Andrew sighed in relief as he checked up on himself. It did not seem as if he had been injured in any way, which was good for him.
"Clara, how are you feeling? Are you injured?"
He asked the lowest-level one first, and Clara nodded while standing on shaky legs.
"I am fine. This was nothing I have not experienced before. What about Seraphina? How is she doing?"
Clara asked as she quickly looked around for her saviour. She noticed Seraphina standing over the monster, now pulling her sword out and clearing it using the fur of the beast she had slain.
Seraphina noticed that Clara was fine as well and quickly walked over to her.
"Are you feeling fine now? Do you have any injuries? Do you need a potion? Carelessness and ignoring injuries is how people die quickly in these games."
Seraphina sounded serious and concerned. Clara, who had not expected this from someone like her, felt taken aback.
"I... I am completely fine. I was more startled than injured by the beast. See, I can walk around just fine."
She declared as her legs finally started to hold her weight once more. Her legs threatened to give up more than once before she finally got them under control.
"So, where is the relic that we came here to get? I don’t see it anywhere?"
Clara quickly changed the conversation topic as she walked toward the temple.
"It’s likely still there. Someone will have to try and fish it out from there."
Andrew told her as he came closer as well. His words caused Clara to let out a frustrated sigh.
"Ugh, really? But is that really safe? What if we get attacked when he tries to do that? Suddenly, I don’t think it is a good idea to get the relic anymore... Hey, what are you doing?"
Clara asked as she noticed Seraphina sticking her hand into the temple without much hesitation.
"I am doing what is needed. The relic should be around somewhere here... Ah, got it."
Seraphina pulled her hand out of the temple and pulled out a ring. It had a beautiful purple stone in the middle.
Her arm had a few scratches, but she did not even blink at her ruined sleeve or the injuries she had sustained.
"Should we get going now? The sooner we get other relics, the sooner we will be able to put an end to this."
Seraphina asked as she held her arm by her side. Her blank expression made Clara uncomfortable, but Andrew, who knew her well, knew that this was just her normal self.
"Alright, let’s get going now."
He told her as they headed toward their next destination.
