Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 92: Ch : Aiming for the Soft hearted- Part 3
"Are you sure we should not stop them? Their help will be extremely necessary if we want to get back on our feet later..."
Mandarine pointed out as he entered Thief’s office, and Thief nodded.
"I know. But I cannot force those who do not want to help. All we can do is stay here and try our best for now."
He told Mandarine as he went back to work. A few hours passed like this, and then the system gave a sudden warning.
[Base Capacity Exceeded.]
[Base Capacity: 115/100]
[Base barrier will be temporarily disabled.]
The sudden message startled him, and Thief quickly rushed out to see what happened. He noticed the horde of monsters waiting outside the barrier, just like in his vision, and he had a sudden realization that he had mistaken the time of the vision.
The attack he had told Mark Dawnson and his people about was not going to happen in two days, it was going to happen today.
"Everyone, get ready to defend our base. Make sure you keep the monsters out for as long as you can."
Thief wanted to send someone to get more beacons immediately and restore the barrier, but he knew that as soon as he gave that order, the people who stepped out to find the beacon would die, and people would harbor resentment against him for giving such an order.
But fighting against the monsters and dying because of that was a different case. It was something he could use for his benefit later.
So if a sacrifice was to be made, he would rather have it be made in a way he would be able to use later.
A small group rushed toward the monsters, but the monsters quickly passed the base limit and came inside. Chaos erupted as everyone tried their best to fight the monsters.
But no one actually stepped outside the base’s limit to lower the number of people inside.
"Don’t worry. I will join the battle as well."
Queen assured Thief, and he almost stopped her. But she went out anyway.
Around ten people died before Thief noticed that two new faces had joined the fight. Emperor and Mark Dawnson were here. A few minutes later, Seraphina, Lilianna, and Clara arrived as well.
"We will help. Show me the injured people."
Lilianna spoke with urgency, and Monkey King immediately took hold of her.
"I will show you where you can work."
Seraphina’s eyes made Thief nervous. Something about her felt dangerous, but he could not put his finger on what.
She did not say much and just turned around to leave and join the fight, but her attention made Thief feel like he would die by her hand.
"Take care of Clara and Lilianna. You won’t live to see a single day more if anything happens to them."
Seraphina warned, and Thief felt the weight of her glare, threatening to choke him.
He nodded at her, and she quickly joined the others in the fighting.
Suddenly, Queen gave an order for people to fight outside the range, and they ran out. The base capacity suddenly became safe once more.
[Base Capacity: 95/100]
[Safety Barrier will be reinstalled]
The barrier appeared in an instant and covered the whole space. Those inside were safe once more, but the people fighting outside were not as safe. They were still getting injured, and there were too many who looked on the verge of death.
Thief did not know what to do to help, so he wandered around and kept looking out.
But half an hour later, a miracle happened.
[Base Capacity increased.]
[Base Capacity: 95/110]
The sudden miracle made Thief immediately turn toward the player with the power to make his voice loud.
"Ask everyone to come inside right now. The barrier has been fixed."
As soon as the announcement was made, players came back inside the barrier, and the monsters kept trying to reach them. But it was of no use.
The barrier had been reinstalled, and they were all safe... somehow.
"Tsk, if you are going to make a settlement and give everyone hope, then the least you can do is make sure it is actually stable and not half-assed."
Emperor walked out of the central base where the beacons were being kept.
Thief had a feeling that he was responsible for the positive outcome.
Mark Dawnson also appeared not long after, and then Seraphina.
[Base Capacity: 106/110]
"You... did you give us your beacon?"
Thief asked in a soft voice.
"Huh? Of course not. It was a spare we found. We decided to help this time because Lilianna and Clara wanted to come, but there likely won’t be a next time. If you want to run this base, then find your own beacon."
Thief looked dumbstruck, but he nodded. He had not expected to get this help, but he was beyond grateful that it had happened. The only reason they had not lost a lot of players was because Mark Dawnson and Emperor took care of most of the monsters.
"I... should go and see if anyone else needs help. Once again, thank you for your help this time. I will make sure to repay you in the future for this."
Thief promised, but Andrew did not hold his words in too much account.
"Hmm, then I will make sure to cash in on this favor in the future."
Andrew told Thief before he left to join Clara and Lilianna. He was not too sorry about his wasted time, and there was only one reason behind it.
He had gotten a lot of exp from this fight and jumped a lot of rankings on the leaderboard. He was right below the top ten spot.
[Player Name: Mark Dawnson (Lvl 23). Global Rank: 12. Total Monsters Killed: 3753]
[Player Name: Emperor (Lvl 22). Global Rank: 9. Total Monsters Killed: 5267]
[Player Name: Seraphina (Lvl 24). Global Rank: 14. Total Monsters Killed: 3465]
’Just a little more, and we will enter the top ten. I guess this small fight was a blessing in disguise.’
There had been a lot of small fries that died in one hit, so gaining ranks had been easier. But Andrew would rather not see the same situation again in the future anytime soon.
