Reborn as an Yandere : Yandere X Yandere-Chapter 279: The Test!
Horizon Academy—Wayne’s dream school.
It was the biggest and most famous school in his hometown. Whenever Wayne passed by it, he used to stop for a few seconds and just stare at the big building, the tall clock tower, the shiny windows, and the large sports ground. He always imagined how it would feel to walk through those gates as a student.
Now, that day had come.
But it wasn’t the way he had ever imagined. He wasn’t Wayne anymore. He was Fable now—a hitman in training. And next to him stood Daniel, No—Predictor.
The two of them stood right outside the grand gates of Horizon Academy. Fable looked serious, calm, and collected, taking in everything with a neutral face. He expected to quietly enter the school and find a seat, like any other student.
But Predictor had something else in mind.
Without any warning, Predictor suddenly ran forward, waving his arms and yelling at the top of his lungs.
"Everyone! Listen up! Me and my friend are hitmen! Real hitmen! And very soon, we’ll be the greatest hitmen this school has ever seen, Wait you might never had saw any hitman anyway! Whatever, So don’t be shocked if I kill ya!"
Fable froze. His eyes slowly turned toward Predictor, his mouth slightly open in disbelief.
Predictor continued to shout and jump around for a full five minutes. Some students passing by gave him weird looks. Others just laughed and kept walking. A few teachers peeked through the windows but only shook their heads. No one took him seriously. They all thought he was either joking or just trying to show off like some crazy, attention-seeking teenager.
Fable’s face remained still, but inside, he was boiling.
"...Motherfucker," he muttered under his breath, his jaw tightening. "I’ll definitely kill him one day."
———
Inside a particular classroom, the teacher stood in front of the blackboard with a bright smile on her face. She looked toward the door, her voice warm and welcoming.
"Class, we have two new enrollments today! Since they’ve joined in the middle of the semester, please help them catch up. Share your notes, explain things, and make them feel comfortable, okay?"
Students whispered among themselves, curious and excited. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Two new students? Are they girls?" one boy asked with a hopeful look.
But as soon as Fable and Predictor entered the classroom, his smile vanished.
Fable walked in first. He stood straight, looked around the class calmly, and then bowed slightly.
"I’m Way—, I mean Ryan...," he said in a low, emotionless tone. "I look forward to studying with all of you."
His words were polite, but his cold voice and blank eyes made it clear—he wasn’t someone who liked to make friends.
Then came Predictor, His introduction was polar opposite of what fable did.
And specially he added the sentence,"Current profession, Hitman in assistance and current hobby killing!",
This really made fable gritt his teeth inside his mind, From his perspective, Predictor was being way too careless and not to forget they still didn’t know what is the test.
But unlike him, The whole class only took it as a joke and nothing else.
----------
The teacher smiled warmly as she looked around the classroom. Her eyes stopped on two very different girls.
The first girl sat at the back. She had long black hair that covered most of her face, even her eyes. She didn’t look up at all and was focused only on her notebook, as if that was her whole world. Her presence was dark and heavy, like a deep, silent fog. Just by looking at her, anyone could feel she didn’t like being noticed. She was like a ghost in the room—quiet, still, and alone.
Then the teacher looked at another girl sitting in the middle row. This girl had short pink hair that lightly touched her shoulders and a round baby face that made her look sweet and cheerful. She was flat-chested, but her soft features made her look gentle and approachable. Her smile was bright, and she seemed like the kind of person who’d happily help anyone.
The teacher then turned back to the two boys standing near the board—Fable and Predictor.
"Hmm..." she said with a thoughtful tone. "Ryan, you look like someone who doesn’t enjoy talking much. And Daniel... you seem like someone who talks way too much."
The class burst into soft chuckles. The teacher had hit the nail on the head.
She then pointed at the pink-haired girl. "Ryan, you’ll sit with Sophie. She’s friendly and loves to talk, so I’m sure you’ll get along just fine."
Sophie quickly stood up and raised her hand with a big smile. "I’ll make sure of it, ma’am!" she said cheerfully before sitting back down.
Then the teacher pointed toward the gloomy girl in the back. "And Daniel, you’ll sit with Diana. She doesn’t have many friends, so try to get along with her, okay?"
Predictor looked at Diana. At first, he was just nervous, but then... something strange happened.
While others only saw a quiet, creepy girl, Predictor—being a homunculus—saw something terrifying. In his eyes, Diana wasn’t just a girl. She looked like a dark monster with black snakes instead of hair and a heavy black mist swirling around her. Her aura was so strong that it made him freeze for a second.
Just then, Diana slowly lifted her head and looked straight at him. Her eyes were hidden, but Predictor could still feel her stare.
A cold shiver ran down his spine.
"Nope!" he whispered, and without another word, he turned around, rushed toward Sophie’s seat, and sat down beside her.
Everyone stared in silence. Even the teacher opened her mouth to say something but quickly closed it. It was his choice, after all.
At the same time, Fable quietly walked toward Diana’s seat near the window. He didn’t say anything or make a face. He just sat beside her and looked out the window calmly, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
The teacher looked at the two of them—both quiet, both keeping to themselves.
"Two introverts sitting side by side... What a strange pair," she thought with a curious smile.
----------
As the first day of high school went on, Fable and Diana stayed quiet. They didn’t talk to each other even once and simply listened to the lessons without causing any trouble. On the other side, Predictor chatted nonstop with Sophie. He asked her lots of silly questions, even boldly asked if she was single.
Sophie smiled and answered, "Yeah, I’m single."
When the final bell rang and school ended, Fable and Predictor walked back to their nearby apartment together.
But the moment they stepped inside, Fable didn’t hold back. He punched Predictor hard, knocking him to the ground and leaving his face swollen and bruised.
"You idiot!" Fable shouted angrily. "Our past may have been erased, but that doesn’t mean no one can dig it up if they try hard enough! And remember, we’re not here to enjoy school—we’re here to pass the test. And tests are never given alone, There might be others peaple too!",
Predictor sat on the floor, his cheek red and puffy, his lips slightly bleeding.
"Yeah, yeah! If anything happens, I’ll take full responsibility, alright?" he replied, groaning in pain.
"You better do," Fable muttered, still fuming as he looked down at him.
—
After that day, everything became quiet again. On every Saturday and Sunday, both of them had to go to a dirty, run-down building that looked like it would collapse any second. It was in a slum area, hidden away from the city lights. That place was their secret training ground.
Their trainer was a tall man, about six feet in height, with dark brown skin and a strong, dangerous-looking body—like a soldier who had lived through a hundred battles. His presence was scary and powerful. Just standing near him made anyone nervous.
He trained them in brutal ways. They learned how to fight with their hands, how to use knives, and how to handle all kinds of weapons. He showed them how to kill—where to aim, how to cut below or above the Adam’s apple, and where the vital spots were.
Sometimes, the trainer brought in real people—men and women who were tied up and begging for their lives. He killed them right in front of Fable and Predictor, forcing them to watch closely. Other times, the boys had to do the killing themselves to prove they had learned.
Though they were young, both Fable and Predictor had strong, healthy bodies and sharp minds. They picked things up quickly. It didn’t take long before they became skilled and cold professionals, used to blood and silence.
Even while going to school on weekdays, their weekends were spent in darkness. Soon, they started receiving small missions. Sometimes they had to kidnap someone. Other times they were ordered to kill a drug addict who hadn’t paid his debt or threaten someone important.
Time moved fast. Before they knew it, only one month was left until the final exams.
And now, it was Sunday again. They stood in the same rusted building, ready for training. But this time, something was different. Their tall trainer, with a serious look in his eyes, stood in front of them.
"This is your last day of training," he said, his deep voice echoing in the room. "And from this moment, your test begins."
Daniel’s mouth formed a perfect "O" as he gasped.
"Ohh, so the test is to defeat you?" he asked in shock.
But Fable quickly shut that idea down.
"If it was that simple, they would’ve just told us straight away!" he said with a frown.
The trainer chuckled with a deep voice and nodded.
"Of course not. The real test is something else. There are six other teams, just like you two. Each team got the same mission — find the others and kill them before the final exams begin. You have one month. Either kill them... or be killed."
As soon as Daniel heard that, his face went pale. His body froze as fear started to creep up his spine.
He slowly turned his head toward Fable... only to see his partner’s eyes glowing with pure rage. Fable’s fists clenched tightly, knuckles cracking, his whole body filled with a killing intent.
"Daniel... now it’s time for you to die!" Fable growled.
BAM!
BOOM!
SMACK!
Fable beat up Daniel on the spot. Punch after punch, kick after kick, until he finally calmed down a little.
Daniel didn’t fight back — not even once. He just sat there on the floor with a swollen face, accepting the punishment. He knew this time, it really was his fault.
"Why?!" Fable yelled. "Why did you have to be so stupid and tell people we’re hitmen in training?! Now we’re easy targets! Anyone can come for us at any time, and we don’t even know who they are!"
Daniel sat cross-legged on the cold floor, head hanging low.
"What if... this works in reverse?" he mumbled. "Like... since I said it out loud, they might think it’s a trap and stay away?"
Fable scoffed. "Yeah, sure. Like they’ll fall for that. As time passes and the exams get closer, they won’t miss any chance. Someone will definitely come for us... maybe all of them. We’re out in the open. They’re hiding in the dark."
Daniel let out a small sigh.
"...That’s true."
He then looked up at their trainer, who stood tall like a statue.
"Isn’t this test way too hard? How are we supposed to find out who the other hitmen are?"
The trainer’s voice was calm but cold.
"Tests are meant to be hard. But there is a small mercy. One team can survive without killing others — five teams must die. So, you ca team up with someone. But teaming up means risk of getting stabbed in the back!, And if five teams aren’t eliminated before the exams, everyone will be wiped out. This will show that you all are incapable",
Without another word, the trainer turned around and walked away, leaving behind silence and tension.
"Shit..." Fable cursed and kicked a stone nearby. His anger hadn’t gone away, but he knew yelling more wouldn’t help.
He glanced at Daniel, who was rubbing his sore cheek and still looking guilty.
As much as Fable wanted to punch him again, he also knew... Daniel was the only person he could trust right now. And being alone would be even worse.
Fable took a deep breath and slowly let it out.
"We still have a month. I don’t think anyone will make a move in the first one or two weeks."
Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Yeah? How can you be so sure?"
Fable looked at him seriously.
"And this might work in our favour. Everyone is hiding. No one knows who’s who. And now... we are the bait. Everyone thinks we’re easy to kill. So maybe... we just sit and wait. Let them come for us and we’ll just have to kill them!",
Daniel’s eyes lit up.
"Ohh! That’s... actually genius! Why didn’t I think of that?",
