Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 185: Cyrus in danger
"Lately, I have been hard to read. I donβt even know what I want when it comes to you. I want to hold you close and care for you, but ruin you in so many ways." πππππ°π²π―π»ππππΉ.ππ¨π
Amelia heard the familiar voice as soon as she entered her room in the participantsβ chambers.
She turned around to meet the gaze of the man who was already looking at her with a dark, mysterious, and desire-filled gaze.
Amelia shook her head at the man before she took off the jacket she was wearing over her dress.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Doing what every mate should be doing. Admiring my love, thinking of a hundred ways I can make her moan my name, suppressing those thousands of thoughts where I can fucking ruin her and oppressing those millions of ideas, ways in which I want to claim her before the world." Kyle said.
He walked to where Amelia was standing, his hand reaching out to massage her tense shoulders.
He was proud of how she won that strategy battle. But as she won, he realized that his woman was more than special, and slowly she was gaining the kind of popularity that was putting everyoneβs gaze on her, gaining her the type of attention that might be a problem for all of them.
As proud of her as he was when that general gave his sword to her, he wouldnβt lie and say he didnβt feel jealous when he saw so many alphas looking at his woman.
And it took everything in him not to pounce on the girl and scream "mine" to let everyone know who she belonged to.
"You shouldnβt be here. You know that, right?" Amelia mused.
Kyle rolled his eyes before pulling her closer, making her back hit his chest as he placed his lips in the crook of her neck.
"What I know is that there is no power in this world that can keep me away from you. You did well, sunshine," Kyle nibbled on her neck.
Amelia closed her eyes for a second, letting her body feel the pleasurable shivers that ran down her spine just by his mere touch, before she stepped forward to create some distance between them, before turning to face him.
"Seriously, Kyle. If the word got out, I could get eliminated. And after what I have gone through to win, thatβs the last thing I want to happen. I know you miss me, but I also know thatβs not what you are here for. So tell me the truth, please?" Amelia looked into his eyes, searching for the answers to her question.
Kyle didnβt say anything for a solid few seconds before he finally gave in.
"Fine. Itβs the attack. I... I just couldnβt sit around without worrying about you after knowing Luna had been killed here brutally. Murdered. For all I know, the murderer could be either of the other two," Kyle said.
Amelia sighed.
She understood her fear. She wouldnβt lie and say it didnβt cross her mind when she entered the participantsβ chambers and her gaze met Hannah and Maximine.
Luna, or whoever it was, definitely did it with a motive in mind, and for all she knew, she could be their next target.
However...
"Even if thatβs the case, you still canβt be here. That would just paint me in the wrong. And I canβt even prove my alibi by saying I was in the Grand Palace when the murder happened. They would check with the hospital, and it would be even worse," Amelia explained.
Kyle sighed. He knew what Amelia was saying was true. He knew that coming here was a bad idea right from the beginning. But could he control himself?
He asked Cyrus to take action to enhance security around the chambers, either inside or outside, but the man received a call and left urgently without even assuring him that he would follow through.
As her other mate, how could he let her stay in a dangerous place like this all alone? Especially when only one test was left and it would decide the winner?
This would only make the murderer even more anxious to kill the remaining one or one of the two to eliminate the competition.
"I can manage to hide well. You donβt have toβ" Kyle started, but stopped speaking when he felt a sudden ache in his back.
It almost felt like someone stabbed him in his back, and he doubled over on the ground.
He took deep, long breaths to control the pain. It was one more mystery to him.
This wasnβt the first time he felt this kind of sudden pain. It was occasional but not a rarity. There were days when he felt sudden pain, desire, anger, unexplained happiness, and as much as he wanted to consult a doctor for it...
Kyleβs thought process stopped when he realized something.
Right. Why didnβt he ever think about it? He wasnβt alone. He had a twin brother, Cyrus. What were the possibilities that the pain he was feeling right now was because...
Kyle looked at Amelia to alert her when he noticed tears brimming in her eyes.
She knelt beside the bed, clutching her heart.
Kyleβs pupils dilated. She was probably feeling Cyrusβs pain through the mate bond, through the mark she gave Cyrus. And it only strengthened his suspicion that something was wrong with Cyrus.
He remembered seeing him leave in a hurry earlier.
"Ameliaβ"
"My husband is in danger." Amelia gritted out before she stood with difficulty and grabbed the sword that she got from General Wren.
"We need to hurry," Kyle said.
Amelia nodded at him.
Kyle jumped out of the window to cross the boundaries unnoticed so he could call Stone beforehand and tell him to look for Cyrusβs current location.
Amelia walked into the corridor and was about to exit when the guards stopped her at the gate.
"Where are you going?" They asked her.
Amelia thinned her lips.
"I need to step out." She stated urgently.
"You canβt," The guard looked at her sternly.
Amelia sighed.
"Look, I know that you are only looking out for the participants and following orders, but this is important. I need to go out, or things will go wrong," she said.
Seeing how the guards werenβt ready to budge from their places, Amelia paced around helplessly, wondering who she could call for help.
She wasnβt allowed to tell anyone she was Cyrusβs wife. It was strictly prohibited. But... Cyrus was in danger.
Amelia turned around and called Kyle.
"They arenβt letting me out," she said, her lips trembling with fear for Cyrus.
Kyle rubbed his forehead in annoyance.
"Itβs okay, sweetheart. I have found his location. He has gone to the eastern borders and is probably stuck among the rogues. I have asked my team to connect with all the rogues and warn them immediately. Trust me on this. Iβll handle it," Kyle said before ending the call.
Amelia looked at the phone. Her heart thumped against her chest.
Calm down? How could she calm down when her husband was out there, bleeding, getting hurt, and probably fighting for life?
And how the hell did this all happen? Everything was fine. She didnβt hear about any commotion in the east either.
Was it really sudden?
Amelia returned to her room, pondering how to exit the area unnoticed. She was about to change into pants from her dress, making it easier to climb the walls, when her phone rang.
She looked at the caller ID, the unknown number, making her feel a little wary.
"Hello?" She asked.
"You must be happy after everything, arenβt you?" The familiar manβs voice made Ameliaβs hand tighten around the phone.
She looked at the number and gulped before placing the call back near her phone.
"What do you want from me?" She asked.
The man chuckled, a dark and evil chuckle that she could feel in her bones.
"Straight to the point. I like it. Thatβs what I always liked about you, Amelia." The man said.
Ameliaβs heart skipped a beat at the way he talked to her.
For him to contact her like this, with an unknown number, she could feel he meant nothing good.
"Donβt play the last round." The man finally said, and Ameliaβs heart sank.
