Reborn ghost seeing lady is pampered by her ex husband-Chapter 543: Like thunder.
Mr. Cornwell stood up hastily, the Saxons acted respectfully in public but behind closed doors they reminded him of a family that he once had to deal with, the Verdemonts. Some of them were just too greedy and had to be put under control.
The old Saxon patriarch knew this for he mentioned that he had to nip that greed in the bud as soon as possible. Here they were looking at him with furious eyes like as though he made the rules. He hoped that this would not go as the reading of Luther Verdemont's will because he had been taking kick boxing lessons.
If anybody touched his hair, he was going to kick drop them in a heartbeat.
"Good morning, Ladies and gentlemen...Saxon's of all ages. Allow me to clarify that Mr. Thomas is wrong, according to the rules Saxon group, there is no such precedent of a president deciding who should be vice precedent. This is actually the domain of the chairman but if majority disagree with his choice, the board can meet and take a vote.
The tradition of presidents choosing their preferred vice president was started because the presidents desired to choose those they could work with best. When the first chairman that allowed this tradition to pass did so, it was more of a courtesy than an obligation that unexpectedly grew into an expectation." He enlightened the discontented bunch, redirecting his attention to the old patriarch. "Therefore, Chairman Rufus Saxon is allowed to choose the individuals that will fill both these positions suitably." He concluded, taking his seat.
The room fell silent, more than a few displeased eyes were sent Rufus's way. He met them with a smirk playing on his lips. "Now that this is all cleared up, I guess that we can continue." His fingers drummed lightly on the top of that day's newspaper.
Rufus decided to share some insight before announcing his choices for the positions of leadership. "The main reason as to why we are having this meeting suddenly is not just because I cannot hold on to it anymore or because of the stress. It is also because I have come into information that a group of outsiders is gearing up to bring down our group. Now is not the time for leaders that need training wheels, it is time for those that can help us successfully sail through troubled waters. I need generals up there, not foot soldiers."
He did not wait for the shock to settle freshly brewed tea and continued. "Robert will be my successor as chairman, David will be president and for the position of vice president I believe that Thomas will fill it up just perfectly." He finally announced.
Puzzled glances darted from face to face, it was like as though a ripple of confusion passed through the listeners, their eyes open with uncertainty. Some like names like Robert's were not surprising. As for Thomas, he was contender so while it was shocking that he had out competed some individuals in the family with stronger support, it was not unexpected that he made it.
David on the other hand, many had long dismissed him from the list of contenders for any of those positions. David was just as surprised, he never saw it coming mostly because he was not even working for the Saxon group anymore and he was the first to react.
"What?" His brows furrowed just in time as his lost eyes met those of Phoebe. "What does grandpa mean by that?" His voice was barely audible but the shock very loud.
"Exactly what you have heard." Rufus answered with his pointed chin jutting outwards without apology.
The shock continued to simmer for a moment. From president, everyone knew what was next, chairman. Basically, Rufus was telling them who the next chairman would be after Robert.
Immediately, Katherine stood up to challenge the choices that Rufus had made, one especially. "I object grandpa. That cannot be possible! David is not part of the Saxon group anymore; he left on his own and said he would not compete for the positions of power anymore." She tugged at the front of her hair, accusing eyes locked onto David. What had he been whispering to their grandfather to get such a huge favor like this? She wondered. She had acting as a filial granddaughter, making sweet gestures to the old patriarch, from reading him books to massaging his feet and listening to his boring old stories yet he appointed David as president and not her!
Her father Robert on the other hand was excited. After so many years of being devoted to the company, he had reached the pinnacle.
"Father I am grateful for putting your trust in me by handing the chairmanship to me however I have to agree with Katherine on this one." He paused, cleared his throat and threw David a quick glance. "David quit his position on his own accord! No-no scratch that he lost us an important deal and when he failed to give a good explanation, he resigned! How do you expect me to lead the group with such a person?
I am proud of him for all his achievements while he was with the company, but I think someone that jumped ship after causing trouble may not inspire trust in others. The most suitable candidate for that position is Ian for he has been nothing but steadfast and dedicated. As much as I love David as a father, he is just not cut out for the job."
"I do not want it." Ian threw in immediately, causing many to gasp. He went to clarify why he did not want the position. "My passion is in art, and I have decided that like David, I am going to quit the group to pursue my dreams. I am not abandoning the group of course; I will pitch in when necessary." He sighed, like the world's weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
"Ian!" Miranda let out an outcry, his wife Jasmine gawked at him with words failing her. She let out an ear-piercing sound, tears flowing down her cheeks. "You selfish son of a bitch!" Her eyes drilled into his skull. He knew how much she had longed and prayed for the day he took the vice president's office; in fact, she had her clothes ready for the inauguration.

Every year, she picked out an inauguration outfit and crossed her fingers, yet now that the moment had arrived, here he was, ready to throw it all away without a fight and all for what? A stupid passion in art that would probably would not have an outcome!
Had he lost his mind!
