Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession-Chapter 240: She wants to stay by his side
Although he did not say it explicitly, his insinuation was clear.
Ronan overlooked half of the King Family as the head of the medical team so there was nothing amiss with Ji Yan being here.
’There are no signs of Adrian in the entire place... Nothing seems amiss... Even if he was here, why would he ignore me?’
Ella felt like she had been overthinking things.
There was definitely something amiss but she should think over it carefully.
Ella inhaled a deep breath and looked at Ronan, "Fine. If it is as you say then—"
Suddenly, a blood-curdling scream cut through the rest of Ella’s words, reverberating in the tall walls.
Ronan’s face turned solemn.
Ji Yan paled visibly.
As Ella looked at both the men, her blood gradually turned cold.
The voice... was so familiar yet unfamiliar to her ears.
Before Ella realized, she was already rushing in the direction of the voice.
Suddenly, a hand clamped around her wrist, holding her in place.
"It’s not safe..." Ruby hadn’t even finished her words before Ella rushed forward again.
Her urgent footsteps halted in front of the room that Ronan had just walked out from.
’Click’
The door pushed open and the thick metallic scent of blood hit her nostrils.
Ella’s gaze took in the sight of bloodstained and shattered glasses on the floor.
By its side, there were a couple of broken and bloodied handcuffs.
She slowly looked up at the bed in the center of the room.
And all the blood drained from her face at once.
Adrian was leaning back on the headboard, his hands cuffed to each side of the bed.
His head was thrown back as veins bulged across his entire forehead, his neck, his entire body.
His skin was deathly white as it sparkled with sweat. The man had his eyes closed as he breathed heavily, like a wounded beast.
Adrian opened his eyes, tinted with a dark shade of crimson and glanced at her.
Ella staggered back.
"Ji Yan, take her outside," Ronan, who appeared at the door, commanded closely.
"N... No." Her voice sounded inaudible to her own ears the first time she spoke.
"I am not asking you," Ronan glanced at Ji Yan coldly.
Ji Yan immediately understood the look in the man’s eyes.
Adrian went to such lengths to hide his condition from Ella which meant that he did not want her to see him like this.
And now that she had seen him in such a state, would someone like Ella... be able to accept it?
Given her track record, she might run.
And if that were to really happen, how could they face Adrian?
Ji Yan immediately stepped forward to drag Ella away.
But he had barely taken a step when he froze.
Ella pressed a piece of glass against her neck as she looked at both the men coldly.
Ronan’s face hardened, "What do you think you are doing?"
"I won’t be able to resist if you drag me out of here. So, I have no other choice..." Ella’s voice was icy, "If any of you touches me, I will dig this piece of glass through my neck. We can all suffer together."
Ji Yan’s face paled. If the Second Master were to wake up, only to find Ella harmed in any way...
He did not dare to imagine the consequences.
"Are you mad?" Ronan glanced at Adrian before turning to Ella. Inhaling a deep breath, he calmly said, "Ace did not want you to see him like this."
"I did not want to be with him in the first place. Am I still not his wife today?" Ella laughed coldly, "Whether he wants me here or not is none of my concern. I am staying by his side."
"You..."
"Is that clear?" Ella looked at both the men, digging the glass a little harder in her head, "Is. that. clear?"
Ronan and Ji Yan exchanged a quiet glance.
"M-M-Miss Yu, you can... stay here."
Both the men did not believe that Ella would harm herself just out of spite.
But, the current Ella had been long beyond their comprehension. Her actions were unpredictable and so were her intentions.
If it was before, she would have been scared and run away the moment she saw Adrian in such a state.
Yet, right now, she did not seem to have any intention to leave at all.
Later, Ronan increased the dosage of Adrian’s medication.
After an hour of struggle, Adrian finally managed to fall asleep again.
Throughout the treatment, Ella quietly sat at a little distance, her expressions still as water.
Ronan glanced at her a couple of times after Adrian fell asleep but her expression gave nothing away.
He dragged Ji Yan out of the room, "Why did you let her come here in the first place?"
Ji Yan sighed, "Dr. Knight, it was... one unpredictable situation..."
He briefly recounted the entire incident that took place when he left the Eve Mansion.
Ronan fell silent.
Ella’s call to Ji Yan was a trap in the first place.
She had a lot of authority in the Eve Mansion. If she told Bertha that she needed bodyguards due to some situation, then it would have been arranged for her.
Yet, she called Ji Yan. Then, she abruptly hung up the call, alerting him.
And if their assumption was right, the person who had tried to mess with Ji Yan’s phone earlier should have something to do with Ella as well.
Last time, Ji Yan had dodged the driver whom Ella had gotten to chase him because they were under his control.
So this time, Ella relied on Ruby.
"I underestimated them," Ji Yan sighed.
"Wait..." Something caught Ronan’s attention, "What did Ella need the bodyguards for?"
Ji Yan paused, "A situation at the Ambrose Mansion."
Ronan’s eyes narrowed.
Before Ji Yan could say another word, Ronan had already walked past him.

Announcement: Dearies, I’ve been unwell these past few days, slowly recovering, but writing hasn’t come easy. Lately, I’ve found myself second-guessing every scene, rewriting Chapters more times than I can count. I don’t know if it’s burnout, perfectionism, or just a slump I need to crawl through. Maybe all of it >.<
I’m still showing up and trying. But in case it continues like this, I wanted to be honest with you. I might take a short pause from the book.
Thank you to all of you who are reading, supporting and loving this book. That alone means more than you realize.
Love,
Aurora
