Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession-Chapter 241: Forever entangled
Ronan knocked on the door of the guest room twice but there was no response from inside.
"Ruby...?" Just as Ronan knocked on the door again, the door opened from inside.
An empty room greeted his eyes. ππΏπ²ππ πππ»πΌπ―ππ.ππΌπΊ
βDid she leave?β
Ronan rushed out of the condominium immediately.
Just as he was about to look for her, he froze in his tracks.
Beyond the forests that surrounded the secluded building, a glimpse of red at the distance caught his attention.
As Ronan crossed the forest area, his footsteps gradually slowed down.
Ruby sat on the seashore, hugging her knees, looking into the distance. Her long red hair framed half her face, hiding her expressions.
Ronan fell into a daze as he looked at her back. For a long time, he did not budge from his spot.
It was only when Ruby moved did he snap out of his trance.
Clearing his throat, he opened his mouth, "I thought you left already..."
Ruby straightened up immediately and turned to him, "How is Ella now?"
"What would happen to her?" Ronan approached Ruby and sat beside her on the sand.
"Is she really fine?" Ruby searched his face.
Ronan nodded with a straight face.
He did not tell Ruby about Ellaβs stint earlier as he was certain that Ella had done that knowing both Ji Yan and him would not let her hurt herself.
She knew she couldnβt convince them to let her stay there.
So, she played in such a way that she would have the upper hand.
Ruby glanced at Ronan quietly.
"Are you being suspicious now?" Ronan sighed, "Nothing is wrong with her. She is merely worried about her man."
Saying those words took him more effort than he had expected.
After all, Ella? Worried about Adrian? What was it, a parallel universe?
But as unbelievable as it was, Ronan had to accept what was happening right in front of his eyes.
"Oh," Ruby looked away when she heard that, visibly indifferent.
Ronanβs lips twitched, "What? You are no longer worried?"
"As long as Ella is fine."
"_" So, basically, as long as Ella was fine, nobody else mattered to her?
Suddenly, Ronan disliked Ella a little more.
"Are you... not curious about anything?" Ronan was surprised that Ella had brought Ruby here.
But he guessed that she must have been too desperate.
Yet, Rubyβs calmness surprised him more.
Earlier, during Adrianβs outburst, Ruby had not budged from her spot. Even when he led her to the guest room, she did not express the slightest curiosity.
"Why should I be curious?" Ruby responded in a levelled voice, "If there is something Ella wants me to know, she will let me."
Ella again! Ronanβs lips curled down.
Ruby did not say another word and silence resumed in the place.
"Are you fine?" Ronan suddenly asked.
"Hmm?" Ruby turned to look at him.
The sound of the waves consumed the space between them.
A gentle breeze fluttered by and Rubyβs long hair swayed, covering her face.
Instintively, Ruby reached out to tuck her hair but before she could put her hand down, her wrist was captured in a firm grip.
When she looked at Ronan, her heart skipped a beat.
The manβs easygoing and playful expressions seemed to have faded completely.
He looked at her face with a coldness in his eyes, one she had never seen before.
"What happened to your face?" His voice was low, almost inaudible.
But Ruby caught his words, loud and clear.
Ruby looked away from the man, letting her hair fall over the side of her face.
"I am asking you something."
"I am not compelled to answer you."
Ronan laughed, "After you slept with me the first time, you should have run far, far away, Miss Ambrose. Instead, you stayed in the vicinity, right under my nose. You let me find you, and catch your lies as well."
Ronan paused for a moment, scanning her face for a minute change but there was none.
Ruby sat there like even if the sky were to fall apart, she would not be moved by it.
"And at this point, you can only dream of cutting ties with me completely,ββ Ronan reached out towards her face, his fingers hovering near her hair.
"In one way or another, we are going to be forever entangled with each other," he whispered, finally tucking the loose strands of her hair behind her ear.
Ruby flinched as the warm sensation of his fingers trailed across her cheeks accidentally due to his movements.
Memories, that she had long buried inside her, threatened to stir.
Ruby pushed his hand away and got up to her feet.
"Please have some self-respect and..."
"And let you go?" Ronan tilted his head to the side, the playful smile returning to his face, "Miss Ambrose, you have taken my virginity. If I let you go so easily, what kind of a man would I be? Itβs precisely because I have self-respect that I refuse to let you go at any cost..."
Ronan had not even finished his words before Ruby turned around and walked away without looking back at him.
He sat there and watched her back till she entered the condominium.
His gaze then shifted to the dark guest room that lit up.
Once her shadow moved away from the windows, the playful smile on his face died.
He pulled out his phone and dialled a number, "What happened at the Ambrose Manor today? Tell me everything."
In five minutes, his phone rang again.
As he listened to the person on the other side, Ronanβs face darkened gradually.
"Oh," Ronan fell silent, "Since he likes to discipline his stepdaughter so much, take the chance to discipline him as well."
On the other side of the city, a black car was headed towards the Ambrose Manor.
Mr. Ambrose sat inside the car, his face tense as he talked to the person on the call, "Did you find where she took them?"
