Chapter 59: 59. Ray Vs A Wyvern [2].

"Oh shit." Ray cussed as he watched the golden glow building up from the wyvern’s stomach, up to its throat.

Just from what he could see, Ray knew he had only a few seconds of escape right now, but the wyvern lunged forward before opening its jaws wide to release a stream of fire, erupting from its throat.

Ray swiftly activated his <<Void Step>> skill and the world blurred around him as he vanished and materialized behind a tree which was currently standing behind the wyvern.

He groaned a bit as he noticed a portion of his arm had been burnt by the wyvern’s flame.

The flames had scorched his arm even though he had reacted in time to evade the wyvern’s attack, but he couldn’t fully dodge its attack because the wyvern’s flame felt like it had ignited the air itself, making it difficult for him to have escaped where he was standing without being burned alive.

His mana pool had dropped dangerously low but the Moonstone Necklace was doing its job, so Ray felt at ease for now.

Still breathing heavily, Ray desperately tried to calm his rapidly beating heart.

A part of him really wanted to return back to the village but a second part of him also believed he could really defeat this huge creature.

It was suicidal but a minute part of him believed he shouldn’t let go of this opportunity.

Besides, if he were able to defeat this monster, there was a high chance he would be absorbing some really cool abilities and when had Ray ever been shy of gaining new abilities.

’Never.’ He reminded himself internally.

’Fuck it. I’m getting excited already.’ A grin appeared on his lips as he groaned and peeked behind the tree to see what the wyvern was doing.

The wyvern had noticed his disappearance already so it swung its massive head around, searching for him.

It flapped its massive wings once as it prepared itself to take flight again.

But Ray wasn’t going to let that happen because if it got airborne, Ray knew the fight would be over instantly, so he sprinted forward from the wyvern’s rear.

He tried to cover the distance between them as soon as he could because right now, the wyvern needed a moment before it could recover and gather enough flames for another release, so this gives Ray some few minutes and possibly seconds to act very quickly.

His legs were already exhausted but he pushed through and kept running.

However, the wyvern saw him coming, so it whipped its tail in a horizontal arc, just as it did a few moments ago.

But Ray didn’t try to dodge it, instead he activated his <<Shadow Step>> skill, allowing his body to turn incorporeal as it melted into the shadows of the trees reflected on the floor.

The wyvern’s tail harmlessly passed through him but he materialize on the other side of the wyvern, then he swiftly activated his <<Web Trap>> skill.

The skill instantly absorbed a lot of his mana, draining his mana pool in the process, then thick and sticky white strands of webs erupted out of Ray’s outstretched hands.

These webs weren’t like ordinary spider webs but they were massive ropes of adhesive silk which shot out in multiple directions at once.

The first strand of web caught the wyvern’s left wing in surprise, pinning it to a nearby tree while the second strand wrapped around the wyvern’s rear leg and stretched it out to the far end of a different tree.

The third and fourth strands tangled against the wyvern’s tail and right wing, then more strands followed to form a cascading network of webs that spreads faster than the wyvern could react.

Now, the wyvern had a lot of webs linking it to different types of trees around it.

But Ray continued to pour what remained of his mana into the skill as he felt his mana draining out of him.

Meanwhile, the wyvern roared and thrashed its massive body against the webs.

The trees creaked, groaned and bent under the force of the wyvern’s strength, with their roots being torn and pulled from the ground.

It pulled even more until one of the webs snapped with a sound similar to a rope tearing apart.

In other words, the wyvern was trying to escape and it wouldn’t be long before it frees itself.

However, Ray didn’t just sit around to watch the wyvern escape.

He sprinted forward with his boots pounding against the ground

But the wyvern saw him coming and it snapped its jaws but the webs held its head at an awkward angle, making it uncomfortable for the wyvern to move.

In a nutshell, it couldn’t escape and it couldn’t see Ray properly for it to aim a new stream of fire.

Still, it didn’t need to see Ray properly before it could attack, so it thought it would be better to melt these stupid sticky white stuffs instead.

Ray watched as the wyvern’s throat glowed with a bright golden hue, slowly turning to orange as the wyvern build up the heat within its body to prepare another flame attack at point-blank range.

However, Ray had already closed the distance between the two of them, so he activated his final skill right after his Moonstone Necklace had regenerated a little amount of his mana.

He swiftly activated his <<Acid Spray>> skill and a small amount of green, corrosive liquid erupted out of his palm to splash across the wyvern’s left face, eye and neck.

The acid hissed and bubbled as it ate through the wyvern’s face while melting its scales and flesh on the left side of its massive head, causing it to shriek in agony into the air.

Its body thrashed violently against the webbing that held it while the orange colored glow in its throat swiftly flickered till it vanished.

Now, all of its attention was on the pain it was feeling in its left eye, but this was the kind of distraction Ray needed as he dashed toward the wyvern’s underbelly.

He lunged his sword straight into the wyvern’s chest with both hands, then he twisted the blade and pushed it harder and deeper, causing hot blood to pour over his hands as the wyvern’s shriek and cries heightened in pitch.

However, now its long neck could perfectly be positioned in the best angle to see what Ray was doing.

In other words, its right eye could perfectly see Ray right now.

The wyvern’s slit-pupiled eye swiftly urned crimson as a huge amount of concentrated mana morphed to form a searing red laser beam that blasted outward like a thin finger, straight into the young Void Walker who was still holding his sword with both hands.

A/N:- I know many of you would be interested in finding out what other Void abilities Ray would be having and I’m sorry I haven’t been focusing on this part of the story especially since his class was actually Void Walker.

The truth is, I wanted you guys to understand how difficult it took Ray to get used to his Void abilities in his first life, so in this life, he needed to be in the best possible position he could be, for him to gain more void abilities.

And Yes, I can assure you, Ray would be having some pretty bad ass void abilities with a glimpse of them appearing to you in this new volume we are in. Anyways, Happy Weekend everyone and have a great day.
