Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 229: Welcome Back
"Kael.. ,"
Kael opened his eyes slowly, unable to stop the two drops of tears from sliding down his face.
He stared down at his chest, his thoughts blurry as he slowly came back to his senses.
The memory he just witnessed was one filled with emotional turmoil from Derylia. Kael could sense it, as at the time gat memory was created, Derylia was in extreme distress.
Kael raised his hand, his metallic gold fingers glinting under the lights of the shuttle's command bridge.
Using his thumb, he wiped away the tears on his cheeks with an indifferent expression on his face. The unsettled emotions were instantly put under control and Kael's state of mind returned to its calm state.
'Just because I understand doesn't mean I agree with you,' Kael said, referring to Derylia. He could understand the love she had for her son and partner, but it didn't change the fact that her actions had led to a war with the dragons.
At least, Kel was now sure that Derylia was the catalyst for the war between lions and dragons, he just didn't know how it happened, not yet.
If she had not fallen in love with a dragon, so many things would have been avoided.
Kael blamed her, every once in a while, there would be people ready to crush their love and emotional attachments to a certain person all so that they could move on effectively.
It wouldn't be the first time that love would be discarded for the benefit of all. Even back on Earth, in Kael's past life, multiple people would instantly leave their loved ones to increase their chances of being successful and creating new connections.
And contrary to what children's stories and fantasy propaganda would claim, these people, the kinds that were ready to sacrifice anything including love for success, were usually the ones that went far in life in terms of success.
There was no rule that stated it was mandatory for one to be accompanied by a loved one on the life journey.
Why couldn't Derylia make that sacrifice? Why couldn't she avoid all these consequences from the beginning? Was that feeling of loving and being loved worth the trouble and emotional baggage that followed it?
Love made people stupid to the point one would question their intelligence. It wasn't about fulfillment, it was about glorifying mental chains and painting it as something of virtue.
Look at where Love brought the Lion Race.
Kael did not pity Derylia, no sympathy at all.
The elderly woman had said the truth, if Derylia had been strong enough to suppress the discontent among the lion kings of that time, it would have been better. Her words would have been backed by substance.
But she had ended up spending most of her time trying to make her relationship with Sakan work while also raising their son, Ibadon.
Sakan himself had not let his evolution stall, he had even used his love for his family as a driving force to continue getting stronger.
Weaklings had no right to fight for love.
Derylia had no excuse, she was selfish, she just didn't expect the consequences to be so…expensive.
'Her duty? Medicine after death…' Kael eased the coldness in his eyes. It had all happened in the past, there was no use thinking too much about it.
He could only derive moral lessons from the actions of his predecessors as all of them had made mistakes, he would try not to make the same mistakes they had made.
"Kael, we're almost there," Kael heard Chloe's voice and perked up. He sat up from the cushion to see Coe still staring at the screen but she was now sitting on a metal chair she had found somewhere.
Kael looked at the screens to see that the Iron Blood Shuttle was indeed getting close to his destination.
The faint silhouettes of a Landmass could be seen in the distance stretching from the east to the west.
Kael sent a mental command to the shuttle's command system. He ordered a few cannons and metal tendrils to be on standby.
Kael was always ready to be disappointed, it was possible N'bayé had not done as he had asked.
Within a few minutes, the Iron Blood Shuttle had already drawn close to Paradise Beach.
"Ugh!" Kael's eyes widened and his pupils shrank to pinpoints. He felt a satisfying tingle all over his body.
Conquering Essence, it was on this beach, he could feel it very clearly.
Meanwhile, the settlement was in an uproar as every inhabitant witnessed the sight of the red and black colossal vessel moving toward the beach.
Many wanted to escape but many more remained on the beach, aware that with the speed of this thing, it would catch up to them in no time.
The grains of sand trembled as the shuttle gradually came to a slow crawl and hovered gently above the shores. It flew slowly above the settlement, casting a false pressure on the bodies of the inhabitants.
Then, the shuttle stopped moving. It just floated quietly above the settlement, casting a dark shadow on the sandy land.
Below the shuttle, a hatch that led directly to the command bridge opened up. There was a period of silence as the wolves and foxes below stared at the open hatch with their breaths held.
*CLINK CLANK!*
There was a ringing sound as the insides of the hatch lit up with multicolored light.
A humanoid being fell out of the hatch, catching the attention of all those who were looking. The entity fell straight to the ground, no wings, no hovering, just leaving his fate to gravity.
*BOOM!*
The entity dropped to the ground, the force of his landing caused a low booming sound to echo out as well as sand to be blasted every which way. freewёbnoνel.com
The nearby bone huts rattled and groaned, threatening to collapse.
The flying sand settled and the wolves and foxes were able to see the god-like being that had descended.
"The King?" A large wolf who had been present gasped as he recognized the humanoid figure standing there.
He had been with the kingdom from day one, from the moment Bibi III was overthrown, he had been there. Naturally, he would recognize Kael.
This seven-foot-tall man with golden blonde hair with piercing and beautiful eyes. He now wore a loose black sleeveless shirt and trousers, coupled with a pair of sandals and two black leather bracelets.
Not just the large wolf, but other foxes and birds who had seen Kael before recognized him instantly.
Kael on the other hand was not paying attention to them, his mind was elsewhere at this moment.
He stared at the sand, his sandaled feet pressing against the sand grains, but his eyes were unfocused.
To Kael, the whole settlement seems to be encased in a faint golden hue. It was so faint and he was sure he was the only one that could see it.
Above him, another sound came from the hatch as a winged woman dropped out of the opening. Before she hit the ground, she spread her wings and glided to Kael's side.
His woman, many were not familiar with, but since she could stand beside the King and he tolerated it, who were they to protest?
"Can you sense it?" Kael asked using the lion language, he was directing this question to Chloe naturally.
"Hmm, the Conquering Essence in my body is reacting but I can't sense anything," Chloe admitted as she looked around.
The foxes, wolves, birds, and a few bears, all stared at Kael with a mix of fear and reverence.
There was no warmth in their eyes for him, just fear and reverence, as though they had been brainwashed.
"Hmm," Kael didn't say anything, he turned his head, looking around and recognizing some familiar faces he had seen before.
"Where is Skybaud? Where is Commander Bibi?" His question thundered into their minds in the form of a calm and deep voice they understood well.
All of them wanted to answer, but a telepathic voice sounded out before any of them could answer.
"You're Majesty, I'm here," The familiar voice of Commander Bibi entered Kael's mind.
He looked in a certain direction to see a large six feet tall muscular grey wolf with scars on different parts of his body, running toward them.
Apart from this large wolf, Kael could still sense another familiar aura coming toward their position very fast.
The wolf skid to a halt in front of his king, having already initiated his transformation into his humanoid form.
By the time he came to a halt, he had already finished transforming into a naked muscular man with pointy wolf ears.
The man immediately dropped to his knees, slamming his fist into the sand and lowering his head.
"Welcome back, Your Majesty!" Commander Bibi said with nothing but reverence and devotion in his heart.
Seeing the leader of the wolf caste bowing to the King, the other creatures, both those familiar with him and the original inhabitants of the settlement, dared not follow through.
"WELCOME BACK, YOUR MAJESTY!" Hundreds of creatures said telepathically as they all bowed down to their king.
Kael looked at all this and smiled, satisfied, "Very good,"
