Return of The Alpha Heiress-Chapter 74: Clarissa - The Kidnappers
I walked away from Alpha Brown’s house after saying my goodbyes and declining the cakes and gifts they offered. I also reminded them to keep my visit a secret.
As for Tisha, I sent her a private mind link. I threatened her. Then I delivered a mind shock.
The fear took root instantly.
As long as she was afraid, she would never dare speak of my appearance.
My next destination was Sand Pack.
Luna Thalia had given me the complete address of my kidnappers. Surprisingly, they were living there openly, like ordinary pack members.
Even though they were clearly fugitives wanted for kidnapping.
Alpha Will truly was something else.
Reaching Sand Pack would normally take about three days on foot. But with several tightly guarded packs along the way, it took me an entire week to arrive.
Sand Pack’s security was far stricter than I had expected. Warriors guarded every entrance point.
From morning until dusk, I observed their patrol patterns. When the shift finally changed, I slipped inside.
The interior of Sand Pack resembled Brown Pack in many ways. Trees were scattered throughout the territory, providing plenty of cover.
I reached my kidnappers’ house late at night.
"There’s no one inside," Loodie said, sensing no aura within the building.
I decided to enter and wait.
Their bedroom was furnished with a large, comfortable bed and even a radio for entertainment.
They were living peacefully. Comfortably.
Not long after, I heard the front door open.
Footsteps followed, accompanied by the voices of a middle-aged man and woman.
I stood by the bedroom window, arms crossed, waiting.
Click.
The door opened. The lights came on.
Before they could register my presence, I sent a mind shock straight into their heads.
THUD.
Both bodies hit the floor hard.
There was no need to turn on the lights. I knew their werewolf eyes could see my face clearly in the dark.
"Long time no see," I said coldly. "It’s been nineteen years."
Panic spread across their faces.
The man, brown-haired and utterly ordinary-looking, tried to push himself up. Veins bulged at his temples as he failed to resist my mind shock.
The woman, with tightly pinned curly hair, looked like the kind of middle-aged housewife easily fooled by salesmen. She tried to scream, but the mind shock stole her voice.
"You don’t recognize me?" I asked, tilting my head with a mockingly sad expression.
"I came here to thank you, you know. Without you, I wouldn’t have achieved what I have in life."
Their expressions twisted in disbelief. No one came to give thanks like this.
I laughed softly.
"Don’t look at me like that. If you keep making those faces, I’ll have to remind you of your kindness."
I walked toward the corner of the room where the wardrobe stood. Opening it, I pulled out a belt and stepped back into view.
They stared at me in horror, as if I were a ghost. The woman’s eyes filled with tears.
PAKK!
The belt struck the bed, the sharp sound making both of their bodies jolt.
I ran my fingers over the mattress.
"No marks. Should I find out where it does leave marks?"
They struggled desperately, trying to break free.
"I’ll ask one more time," I said, releasing my wolf aura. The pressure made them tremble uncontrollably.
"Think carefully. What did you do nineteen years ago?"
I eased the pressure on their throats and heads, allowing them to speak again.
The man finally stammered, "A—are you one of the children who were kidnapped?"
I scoffed.
So they remembered.
Then I moved.
I reinforced the mind shock around their necks and heads and lashed the belt across their backs.
They could only whimper, their bodies wracked with pain.
"Do you know how many lives you destroyed because of your selfishness?"
I released the pressure again.
"We’re sorry!" the woman cried, tears streaming down her face. "Please forgive us! We haven’t kidnapped anyone since nineteen years ago!"
"Since nineteen years ago?" I repeated, taking a seat at the vanity table.
"You were fugitives back then. So tell me—how did you escape the Empire’s enforcers?"
Knowing I could kill them at any moment, they finally told me everything.
Nineteen years ago, they truly were criminals. Thieves and con artists.
They were not child kidnappers at first.
But after crossing paths with a group of rogues who traded in children’s organs, everything changed.
The payment was far greater. Too tempting to ignore.
They started with one child. Then two.
Eventually, they kidnapped five children in total, ranging from two to eight years old.
Their crimes took place in major packs. Black Pack. Green Pack. White Pack. Grey Pack.
During one of their operations in Green Pack, they were captured by Alpha Will, who at the time was still the alpha’s heir.
But instead of imprisoning or punishing them, Alpha Will made them an offer.
He ordered them to kidnap two newborn babies from a hospital in Black Pack.
They took one baby.
The other was moved into the kidnapped baby’s crib.
They had no idea that the child Alpha Will ordered them to take was his own biological daughter.
He even instructed them to carry the baby far away. As far as possible.
Unfortunately for him, Luna Eileen saw her baby.
A baby girl with violet eyes.
A crescent-moon birthmark identical to her own.
She kept insisting that her baby was healthy. Beautiful. Completely different from the infant the nurse brought back to her.
That baby was smaller. Wrinkled. Like a premature newborn.
She knew immediately.
Her daughter had been stolen.
And because of that, the kidnappers were finally caught.
But before they could be tried in the capital city, Alpha Will intercepted their prison transport and made them disappear.
From that moment on, they moved constantly, following Alpha Will’s instructions.
He provided for them. Gave them temporary jobs wherever they went.
He kept them alive.
...
After hearing their story, I didn’t know how I was supposed to react.
Alpha Will was the mastermind.
These people were nothing more than his tools.
"Why would Alpha Will order you to kidnap his own daughter?" I asked, forcing my voice to remain steady.
They shook their heads.
"He told us not to ask questions."
I stood up and looked out at the full moon beyond the window, trying to calm the storm inside my chest.
Should I take revenge now?
No. Too many things don’t add up.
Where did his hatred even come from?
I turned back to them.
"Where did you get the baby you used to replace Alpha Will’s daughter?"
"Do you know who her parents are?"
If there was a reason behind all of this, it had to be connected to Shannon.
And to Shannon’s biological parents.
Alpha Will hadn’t acted randomly.
The hospital. The timing. The exchange.
Everything had been prepared.
"We know the baby’s biological mother," the man answered.
"But we don’t know her full identity."
I lifted the belt in my hand and swung it lightly, as if testing its weight.
"I know criminals like you have wide networks," I said calmly.
"I want you to find out where Shannon’s biological mother is. Quietly. Without alerting Alpha Will’s network."
Their bodies trembled, but they nodded.
I released the mind shock so they could make contact.
With threats hanging in the air and the belt resting visibly in my hand, they didn’t dare think of anything else.
They moved quickly, contacting old associates.
They kept their criminal contacts written in an old notebook, locked inside a safe.
One by one, they made the calls.
It turned out they weren’t small-time crooks. They had a whole network of fellow criminals feeding them intel for nothing."
Within an hour, they had the information.
"She’s in the South Region now," the man said, as if reporting the completion of a dangerous mission to his leader.
"How is her life there? Has she started a family? Does she know about Shannon’s situation?" I asked again.
"She lives comfortably in a large house, nearly a mansion. She is known as Lady Suzie—the wealthy, kind-hearted lady of the area. And she ought to know about Shannon’s whereabouts."
I frowned.
The woman added, "We heard she used to be a maid at Alpha Green’s mansion. She was dismissed after her pregnancy was discovered. There are no marriage records, even until now. Her baby was born prematurely, and because of that, she can no longer conceive."
I absorbed every word.
So Shannon was the daughter of a maid from Alpha Green’s mansion.
Coincidence?
Or design?
"Does Alpha Will know where Shannon’s mother is?" I asked.
They exchanged looks before nodding and sharing more information from their criminal friend in the South Region.
That night, I processed everything they told me. It was a gruesome facts. An idea began to form in my mind.
Whether it was true or not, I would soon find out.
Because my next destination was clear.
The South Region.
