Return of the Immortal Emperor Daddy-Chapter 291 - 293 Infinite Reincarnation (4/7)
This generation of Ghost Valley had no Master. The previous Master, however, possessed an Elixir that could add a hundred years to a person’s life. He had not consumed it himself. Instead, he gave it to Wu Fa, a seven-year-old child on the brink of death.
Wu Fa had never forgotten this kindness, and some of the Elders of Ghost Valley often spoke of it. For Wu Fa, Ghost Valley was an obligation he carried, a heavy brick in his right hand.
While Wang Cai was kind, the Wang family of Taiyuan was a different matter. This marriage was originally Wang Cai’s affair. Even if she permitted Murong Yezi and Wu Tian’s return, the Wang family of Taiyuan would not agree.
"If I were to die, would all these shackles finally leave me?" Wu Fa laughed loudly, even as blood streamed from his mouth, ears, and eye sockets. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
In the end, his expression stiffened, and he collapsed to the ground.
"No!" Murong Yezi and Wang Cai cried out in grief.
Though both held grievances in their hearts, it was undeniable that they loved this man. They did not want him to leave this world so suddenly.
Wu Tian sighed and, with a wave of his hand, dispersed the Blood Mist.
Murong Yezi and Wang Cai wept. A trace of sorrow also appeared on Qin Yuhan’s face. The little one gritted her teeth, clearly unhappy. Did I just meet my grandfather, only for him to be gone already?
Xiao Tianzan and the others, having finished their business in the square, all came over. Seeing Wu Fa’s body, their expressions grew complicated. After all, Wu Fa was Wu Tian’s father.
Zhou Weimou swallowed hard, his face filled with disbelief. Is this... right? If it were him, he could not bear to watch his own father, Zhou Huguo, die before his very eyes.
Xiao Tianzan considered this for a moment, then sighed. "You are not a fish; how can you know a fish’s joy or sorrow? In other words, we are not Wu Tian. How could we possibly understand the life he’s led since childhood?"
Xiao Liang and Cui Chong nodded.
"I actually investigated Mr. Wu Tian’s past," Xiao Liang said. "In elementary school, his classmates often laughed at him. On several occasions, his teacher even denied him the Triple Excellence Student certificate because of his family’s situation."
The so-called Triple Excellence Student certificate from elementary school held little real merit. Some teachers handed them out based on personal preference, burying genuine talent. In some cases, even the scores on test papers were not necessarily accurate. At the time, the first, second, and third grades each had only a single class, operating at the "village" level.
"I have as well," Cui Chong sighed. "I also looked into Mr. Wu Tian’s history. When he started junior high, he finally began to show his true potential, leaving his foolish elementary school teachers in the dust. In his first year, he ranked sixth in his grade, while those who had previously overshadowed him achieved only mediocre results."
At the time, there were seven classes in his grade. With over forty students per class, Wu Tian ranking among the top meant he was a standout among nearly three hundred students. This just went to show that Wu Tian’s elementary school teachers were indeed foolish and had no eye for talent.
"His academic performance in junior high was excellent, but his life at school was not," Xiao Liang said, a hint of sorrow in his old eyes. "He was in Class Six. At that time, some students who relied on their connections and bragged about their backing in society began to bully others. They were the lowest dregs of society, yet they acted like kings in the classroom. Mr. Wu Tian was one of their victims, but his will was strong, and he endured it all—a feat beyond what most people are capable of."
Everyone could now imagine what Wu Tian’s early life must have been like. It was undoubtedly difficult. This was partly due to the social climate of the time, but it also had a great deal to do with Wu Fa.
...
Murong Yezi and Wang Cai were still weeping when something suddenly occurred to Murong Yezi. She looked at Wu Tian, her tone firm. "Save him."
Wu Tian’s expression was placid. He was already detached from Wu Fa, but he cared for his mother. Seeing her sorrow, he knew that if this continued, she might follow Wu Fa in death. That was something Wu Tian did not want to see.
However, Wu Tian could not bring himself to forgive Wu Fa. It was not for his own sake, but again, for Murong Yezi’s. Wu Fa had hurt her too deeply.
Emotions are a strange and powerful thing. They are a poison, but they are also an antidote.
"Please... your mother is begg—" Murong Yezi began.
"Fine," Wu Tian interrupted.
How could he allow the mother who had toiled to raise him to beg? What kind of son would that make me?
Wu Tian looked at Wu Fa’s body. Not much time had passed. It could not even be called a corpse yet; it was still warm. Wu Tian snorted as Spiritual Power gathered at his fingertip. Finally, he tapped Wu Fa on the forehead. If he had waited any longer, the body would have grown cold, and even he would have been helpless.
The movement was like drifting clouds and flowing water—effortless and sublime. A simple touch of his finger, yet it contained the profound essence of the Way.
Wu Tian withdrew his hand.
"Why hasn’t he woken up?" Murong Yezi asked, looking from the still-unresponsive Wu Fa back to Wu Tian.
"Is there truly not a single trace of resentment left in your heart?" Wu Tian sighed. "If he truly understands his mistakes and comes to terms with them, he will awaken. If not, he will continue to live, but only as a man in a vegetative state."
This was an Illusion Technique that Wu Tian had learned in one of the myriad worlds he visited after returning from the Immortal Emperor Realm and breaking through All Heavens. It required physical contact to trap the target, plunging them into an endless cycle of Reincarnation. They could only break free from the illusion by facing their true selves, accepting their faults, and resolving to change for the better.
"I understand." After Wu Tian’s explanation, Murong Yezi nodded. For her, this outcome was already more than she could have hoped for.
Wang Cai also breathed a sigh of relief. Perhaps in the illusion, Wu Fa could find a kind of release, free from the anguish of reality.
Xiao Tianzan and the others watched this scene unfold, at a loss for words.
After a long moment, the experienced War General, Zhou Weimou, swallowed hard in disbelief. Who would have thought a dead man could be brought back to life?
Xiao Liang and Cui Chong felt the same, though they had already witnessed some of Wu Tian’s other incredible abilities.
"It seems we chose the right person to follow," Cui Chong said with conviction. "He is no mortal."
"If not a mortal, then what is he?" Xiao Liang asked his old friend with a smile.
"A divine being!" Cui Chong declared. "By following in his footsteps, our families will flourish once more. Among the Five Surnames and Seven Families, the Wang family of Taiyuan is currently held in the highest esteem, but I doubt that will be the case for long."
Xiao Liang nodded in agreement.
Xiao Tianzan, too, was filled with confidence. An idea in his mind grew ever stronger. I want the position of the foremost man of the Dragon Country’s Four Seas. I want to be the Monarch of the Four Seas. Not for the sake of luxury, but for the hope of bringing peace to the Dragon Country.
As they gazed at Wu Tian’s figure, the awe and fear in their eyes deepened. He could bring back the dead. Fortunately, everyone present was an extraordinary figure. If any common folk had witnessed this, a few would have likely wet themselves in fear.
Wu Tian, however, paid no mind to the reactions of those around him. He was considering how to handle the situation with Wu Fa, now lost in the illusion, and with Wang Cai.
