Return of the King, Dominating the City-Chapter 1650 - 1544: Looked Down Upon
"Just kidding with you!"
Seeing Chen Mengjie hesitating over there, Song Yun decisively laughed and said, "My friend has something to ask of me. It’s only right for me to help. Leave this matter to me."
"Thank you so much, Song Yun!" Chen Mengjie excitedly hugged Song Yun but quickly realized her gesture was too enthusiastic and immediately let go.
Song Yun took advantage of the moment to feel Chen Mengjie’s supple skin and her stately, though not large, breasts.
Although it was just a fleeting sensation, it was unforgettable.
Soon, the Lincoln car came to a stop.
Before Song Yun could open the door, someone outside had already opened it.
Song Yun stepped out of the car first and then turned back, extending his hand.
Chen Mengjie lifted her delicate arm, placing it on Song Yun’s hand, and whispered, "Little Songzi, are we there yet?"
Song Yun raised an eyebrow, surprised that Chen Mengjie had called him an eunuch, feeling somewhat taken advantage of!
Initially, Chen Mengjie had a mischievous smile on her face, but as soon as she stepped onto the red carpet, the mischievous smile vanished, replaced by a slight, elegant, and pure smile.
Song Yun truly hadn’t expected Chen Mengjie’s skill at changing expressions to be even better than his own.
As Chen Mengjie stepped out of the car, screams erupted from all around.
Song Yun glanced to the side, finding himself on the red carpet, with a large crowd outside it, held back by guards; their screams couldn’t be blocked.
"Mengjie, I love you!"
"Mengjie, my goddess!"
"Mengjie!!"
A multitude of frenzied fans screamed loudly, and the sound almost startled the highly skilled Song Yun.
Chen Mengjie calmly stood beside Song Yun, her arm looped through his, waving to the fans alongside them.
The motion incited even louder screams, and the flashbulbs went wild.
Song Yun truly hadn’t experienced a scene like this before, and for a while, he didn’t know what to do. But Chen Mengjie calmly whispered to Song Yun, "Keep smiling, stay relaxed, be confident and poised."
Song Yun initially felt fine, but hearing Chen Mengjie’s advice, he thought he should muster a smile. Yet, the notion of smiling at strangers seemed odd to him, while staying relaxed and confident was easy since he never lost his composure in any situation.
Song Yun’s smile appeared a bit stiff, but Chen Mengjie subtly shifted her arm, whispering, "Alright, we can move forward now."
Upon hearing her words, Song Yun nodded and began walking slowly with Chen Mengjie.
As they walked, Song Yun pondered, seeing others wave their hands when walking the red carpet. He wondered if he should do the same to appear more dignified. With that thought in mind, he raised his hand and waved at the screaming, photo-taking crowd.
Song Yun’s wave hadn’t yet caught attention, as he had been mostly ignored amid the spectators. But this wave drew almost everyone’s attention.
Everyone started contemplating who this man in a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers could be.
As they thought, an eerie silence briefly descended on the scene.
Song Yun awkwardly held his hand up and cursed inwardly, "Damn it, I waved, and suddenly nobody’s talking, not even a scream? I just wanted a taste of fame, and you guys are so uncooperative!"
"Ah!"
While Song Yun’s mind was wandering, someone shouted.
Song Yun looked over to find a man.
"That’s Chen Mengjie’s rumored boyfriend!" the man shouted. "Even if he turned to ashes, I’d recognize him!"
"Seems like it!"
"Yeah, I saw the photos; he looks sleazy like that."
"Totally, totally; brazenly waving at us, does he really think he’s a major star?"
"I feel like this guy is just trying to get famous off Mengjie. Mengjie, don’t let yourself be used!"
The surroundings erupted in chatter, almost exclusively filled with doubt or disdain toward Song Yun.
Song Yun felt like he was wronged beyond measure, worse than the injustice outrageously portrayed in ancient plays. He was doing a good deed, akin to Comrade Lei Feng’s selflessness. Yet they dared to scorn Lei Feng, which was rebellious!
Nearby, Chen Mengjie showed a playful smile but said nothing, tightening her hold on Song Yun’s arm, seemingly encouraging him.
Song Yun had a resilient mentality, undeterred by the senseless chatter, and soon reached the registration area with Chen Mengjie.
A host approached.
The host was a renowned figure in the domestic industry, and Song Yun had even seen him on TV.
"Mengjie, welcome!" the man stood before Chen Mengjie and Song Yun, holding a microphone, cameras capturing the scene.
"Hello, Mr. He!" Chen Mengjie smiled and nodded at the man.
"You’re stunning tonight!" Mr. He, the host, said, "I heard your song might win the best music award. What do you think about it?"
"Haha, I’m not sure," Chen Mengjie shook her head. "I just focus on singing."
"Alright, regarding the best actor and actress awards, any thoughts, Mengjie? Who do you think might win best actor and actress?" Mr. He continued.
"Everyone has a chance, as they’re all very talented," Chen Mengjie gave a diplomatic answer.
Mr. He smiled helplessly before turning to Song Yun, saying, "So, this must be the rumored boyfriend of Mengjie. Is it your first time accompanying Mengjie in public? How does it feel?"
"It’s not bad," Song Yun replied. "I just happened to be here for some business, and I decided to accompany Mengjie."
Just as Mr. He was about to say something, someone approached and whispered in his ear, leaving Mr. He surprised. He looked at Song Yun, saying, "Are you the same Song Yun who invested two hundred billion in Guangzhou, Mr. Song?"
