Return With the Billionaire Baby Daddy-Chapter 137: sorrow of wives
At 9.00 p.m., Hannah sat on the porch waiting for Samuel, who hadn’t returned yet. Occasionally, she swatted mosquitoes landing on her body, especially her hands, calves, and neck. She looked ahead, worried, annoyed, and curious.
"Where is he? Is he working late? Or maybe he’s stopping by the supermarket to shop?" She wondered, then heard her stomach growl. "Oh, I’m so hungry... I should find something."
She got up from her chair, then walked into the house, and headed to the kitchen. The woman in the gray shirt with a black blazer opened the cupboard, finding nothing but wafer snacks in small packaging, and took one.
She then moved to the fridge, finding only one juice box in the living room.
"At least this is better," she said.
While eating the wafer, Hannah continued to wait for Samuel, occasionally sipping juice through a small straw.
"Why hasn’t he returned yet? I’ve been waiting for too long..."
Tired and sleepy, Hannah occasionally covered her mouth when yawning, but that didn’t prompt her to enter the house immediately. She fell silent, leaning her back against the orange chair where she sat, lost in thought, reminiscing about moments with Valerie.
"If I weren’t pregnant, maybe I’d still be with Valerie, with an easy life... I wouldn’t be short of money, I wouldn’t be hungry... And maybe I’d already be dating Hans," she thought sadly, suddenly Hans’s image clouding her mind. "Hans... Are you mad at me for suddenly leaving when we promised to spend time together after returning to Carson City...? You must be angry and disappointed... you must think I’m wicked, playing with you... But the truth is, I’m stupid... I’m too naive... I don’t dare to admit my mistakes and stupidity... You deserve better than me."
She wiped her tears, sad, deeply regretting her situation. The shadows of togetherness with Hans seemed to constantly disturb her mind.
"You’re a good man... Attentive, strong... Anyone who gets you will be very lucky," she whispered, then looked at her fingers until her gaze focused on the wedding ring on her ring finger. "Samuel is also good, he has always been kind to me since I released him from prison. But for some reason, it’s always hard to trust him... To me, he’s always been a dangerous man... Could it be that he’s being kind to me because I freed him, so he’s just repaying my kindness... But today, I think it’s all just a show... What if he’s the one who caused Damian’s injury?"
She sighed, her thoughts now focused on Damian and Valerie.
"If Samuel is indeed the culprit, then I am the most at fault. Perhaps they hate me now... I should never have released Samuel... I should have used that money to live independently," she said regretfully, remembering the large amount of money she had to spend to ensure Samuel’s freedom. "Stupid... bad!" she continued angrily at herself.
Suddenly, her attention was drawn to a motorcycle arriving and stopping in the yard. The rider took off her helmet, revealing herself to be a blonde woman, then got off carrying a white plastic bag.
"Who is that?"
"Hannah." The girl in denim approached Hannah with a greeting.
"Yes..." Hannah stood up, welcoming the girl with a puzzled look. "But I don’t know you."
"No... You don’t know me, but I know you," the girl said. "I’m Anya... I came to bring you food," she continued, handing the plastic bag to Hannah.
Hannah took it hesitantly and was stunned.
"Someone wanted me to give it to you," the girl said.
"But who is she or he?"
"You don’t need to know who he is now because one day you will surely know... But he wants you to be okay," the girl said.
Hannah smiled faintly and looked into the bag, finding a box of food with two boxes stacked. She looked back at the girl in amazement.
"I don’t know you, and you suddenly recognize and know that I’m here... Does that mean the man who sent you told you my name is Hannah and this is where I live?" she wondered.
"Um..." The girl nodded slowly. "That’s right."
"Oh my God... Who is he?"
"I’m sorry I can’t tell you... And now I have to go," the girl said, quickly returning to her motorcycle without wanting to hear Hannah’s response.
"This is strange," Hannah murmured, furrowing her brow and then looking at the food box in the plastic. "Could it be Samuel who sent her? Because only he knows there’s no food at home. But why didn’t he just come back? Why be mysterious?" She wondered, very confused, until she chose to just go inside the house and eat.
...
Carson City...
Valerie returned home with Adriana and went straight to Daniel’s room because she wanted to sleep with him. Fortunately, her younger sister and mother were there, while Adriana chose to rest in the guest room while her father was chatting with Darius on the porch.
"Mom, why can’t I drink breast milk?" Daniel, lying with his arms around a bolster facing his mother, asked.
"I’ve explained it to you, Honey... I can’t give you breast milk anymore because you’ll have a sibling," Valerie replied anxiously, gently patting Daniel’s bottom.
"But what’s wrong with that? Don’t you still have milk?"
"Yes, I still have milk..."
Daniel released his embrace on the bolster and turned to face his mother, always holding onto her breasts still covered by a light brown pajama.
"I still really want breast milk," he said, pouting.
"Mom really can’t give it to you... It would be very risky for the baby’s health in Mom’s belly," Valerie replied anxiously, stroking Daniel’s cheek. "You have to be patient, understanding... Because you’re a big brother now. Even though it hasn’t been born into this world, you have to learn to act, act as a big brother..."
"Daniel, you can’t drink breast milk anymore!" Leonne, who had been busy playing with various toys available in the room, suddenly interjected.
Daniel immediately turned to his little aunt.
"The milk bought at the supermarket tastes better!" Leonne exclaimed with her cute voice. "I recommend caramel and vanilla flavors. They’re very delicious!"
"Really?"
"Yes..."
Daniel immediately sat up and then crawled down from the bed.
"Come here, you have to teach me how to play this!" Leonne showed a robot and remote to Daniel.
Daniel immediately taught Leonne, who was much bigger than him, while his mother failed to sleep.
"Oh my God... It seems he’s going to have a hard time sleeping," she said, then glanced at Fanny sitting on the sofa playing with her phone. "Fanny," she called.
"Yes, Ma’am?"
Fanny immediately put her phone on the table.
"Please make milk for Daniel... After that, you can rest in your room, I’ll sleep here," Valerie said with her eyes looking very tired.
"Okay..."
Fanny quickly left the room, while Valerie approached Daniel, who was playing with a robot with Leonne on the blue carpet.
"Sweetheart, aren’t you going to school tomorrow?" Valerie asked, gazing at Leonne.
"No... Tomorrow is Saturday!" Leonne replied. "How could you forget what day it is?"
Valerie chuckled.
"Mommy’s too busy with Daddy, she won’t even give me milk anymore!" Daniel exclaimed, casting a reproachful glance at his mother, then returned to looking at his robot.
"Sweetheart, didn’t mommy explain already?"
"I still don’t understand!"
"Alright, come with mommy now." Valerie reached out her hand to Daniel. "Mommy will explain everything."
Daniel just shook his head.
"Oh, my boy..."
Her attention turned back to the open door, as her mother came in carrying a glass of chocolate milk and walked towards her.
"I thought Daniel was already asleep," Danna said.
"He doesn’t want to sleep," Valerie replied wearily, leaning against the sofa.
Danna immediately handed the milk to Valerie. "This is special milk for pregnant women. You should drink it regularly for your baby’s health," she said.
"Thanks, mom."
Valerie began to drink it slowly.
"How is Damian doing?" Danna asked.
"He’s getting better," Valerie answered, her face creasing. "But still... It looks tough for him. He keeps feeling guilty for not being able to take care of me," she continued.
"He is a good husband, especially since he has been waiting for your pregnancy."
"Sometimes I don’t understand, why there are always people who don’t like to see our happiness?" Valerie asked, shaking her head. "And that’s Samuel..."
"Are you sure he’s the culprit? Wasn’t he imprisoned?" Danna asked, furrowing her brow.
"He’s been released from prison, and it turns out Hannah freed him," Valerie replied disappointedly. "And it turns out Hannah is in a relationship with him. It’s so surprising to me... I don’t dare to talk to Hannah. I’m afraid it will just make me angry... Or say something harsh to her... However, she has always been there for me in difficult times... It’s quite a complicated situation," she continued, then went back to drinking her milk.
Danna nodded understandingly. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"I understand... And you shouldn’t dwell on it," she said.
Valerie sighed, turning to look at Daniel, who looked sleepy with his droopy eyes, yet reluctant to sleep.
"I’m a bit dizzy because he won’t sleep," she said. "He keeps saying I’m cruel because I won’t breastfeed him anymore."
Danna smiled faintly. "He’ll understand later. I’ll explain... Let me sleep with him, you should rest in your room..."
"No, Mom... I want to be with him, I don’t want him to think I don’t love him."
"It’s Okay... He’s just not used to it yet." Danna reassured. "You just rest in your room... Besides, tomorrow you’ll surely want to go to the hospital to accompany Damian. Now, take the time to rest comfortably in your bed."
With hesitation, Valerie nodded. She kissed Daniel, then left the room and went to her room, sleeping alone for the first time because since she got married, as she always slept with Damian.
