Return With the Billionaire Baby Daddy-Chapter 69: who’s he
"Hannah, he’s bleeding," Daniel said, glancing at the man who helped cough up blood after the mysterious man kicked his stomach, but he didn’t stop fighting back.
The kind man pushed them until they fell and grabbed a plank beside him, then he hit them repeatedly.
"You’re dead, you scoundrels, bastards!" he shouted as he struck the two mysterious men alternately until they ran off in a hurry towards another alley.
The kind man sighed, then dropped his plank and turned to look at Daniel and Hannah, who looked frightened. He wiped his bleeding mouth, then approached them with slightly unsteady steps as if his body was in great pain.
"Oh God... You’re injured!" Hannah said anxiously.
"It’s Okay, I’ll be fine, as long as you and the boy are okay," the man said, smiling at Daniel.
"You’re bleeding," Daniel pointed at the man’s face.
The man nodded. "It’s fine."
"Um..." Hannah felt nervous and still afraid, worried that the mysterious man might still try to take Daniel from her.
"Where do you live? Is it far from here?" the man asked.
Hannah shook her head. "Our home is near from here. But I dare not go back... I’m afraid they might still be around and following us, then they will try to take this child from me again," she said, glancing at Daniel.
"My rented house isn’t far from here, so I’ll escort you," the man replied.
Hannah nodded immediately with relief and invited the man to go to Valerie’s house quickly, walking slowly and bringing the plank back to be on guard in case the two mysterious men tried to take Daniel again.
...
Valerie turned off her laptop after hours of work and online meetings. She got up from her chair, then left the room and went to the living room. She approached the glass window, then saw the family until her eyes found Hannah carrying Daniel followed by a man carrying a piece of wood.
"They... Who’s the man with them?" she asked, her heart suddenly pounding. She quickly walked to the door and opened it.
Daniel, seeing his mother, immediately got excited and tried to get down from Hannah’s arms.
"Mama!"
"Sweetie..."
Valerie looked at Daniel running to her, then embraced him. She glanced at the man, realizing his battered and worn-out face, making her more anxious, and released Daniel’s hug.
"What happened?"
"Two mysterious men were trying to kidnap him," Hannah explained, making Valerie immediately stand up and carry Daniel. "This man helped us. I had to ask him to escort us here because I was afraid the two men would still try to kidnap Daniel," she continued, occasionally glancing at the man beside her.
Valerie looked at the man.
The man just smiled warmly.
"Thank you for helping them," Valerie said sadly. "I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t saved them!" she continued enthusiastically, then hugged Daniel tightly, worried that the two mysterious men might still try to kidnap him and that would mean he was in danger and could lose him anytime if she didn’t watch over him or even failed to protect him.
"I just happened to pass by and saw them in trouble. But what I did doesn’t matter, because those two men might still be trying to get your son," the man said.
Valerie nodded nervously.
"Could this be Mr. McCourtney’s doing?" Hannah wondered.
Valerie immediately frowned at Hannah, remembering Darius McCourtney who had threatened Adriana.
"But could it be him doing this? How could he when he does this to Daniel? Daniel is his grandson!"
"I don’t know... Maybe he’s very upset because you secretly still have a relationship with Damian," Hannah said again. "I think you should tell Damian so he can do something for Daniel’s safety and all of us."
Valerie fell silent, instantly remembering Damian who was easily emotional and hasty in making decisions.
"I can’t say that now," she said, then looked at the man in front of her. "Um... You..."
"I’m Tristan," the man said.
"Oh, Tristan. You should come in, I’ll treat your wounds," Valerie replied awkwardly. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
The man named Tristan nodded. "I think I’ll provide a solution for you all too."
Valerie nodded, quickly entering the house followed by Hannah and Tristan. She took off Daniel’s jacket until he was only wearing a thin blue shirt and black pants, then gave him a snack and handed him to Hannah to watch TV.
After that, she took the first aid kit box and a container of cold water, as well as a small towel, then approached Tristan who was waiting for her on the living room sofa.
"Oh God, you’re so weak," she said anxiously, seeing Tristan with his hand on his stomach.
Tristan sat down slowly.
Valerie saw Tristan’s lips with blood stains, even his white shirt.
"Did you vomit blood?" she asked.
"Um... I don’t think so," Tristan answered, shaking his head. "I think there’s a wound inside my mouth... So it bled so much right away."
"Really?"
"Yes, I’m fine." Tristan smiled convincingly.
Valerie immediately sat next to him dipped the small towel into the cold water and squeezed it. She immediately used it to compress his bruised cheek.
"I don’t mean to be intrusive but can I know if you have any problems?" Tristan asked cautiously, his eyes so focused on Valerie who was so close to him.
"I don’t have any problems," Valerie lied.
"If you don’t have any problems, then your son wouldn’t be in danger. But if you don’t want to tell me, you’d better report to your husband so he can take care of you two." Tristan showed concern. "I’m worried they’re trying to kidnap your son again..."
"I don’t have a husband, but..." Valerie stopped her activity of treating Tristan’s bruise on his face, then turned her face with concern. ’Should I tell him? He’s a stranger... But he’s also the one who saved Daniel... Can he be trusted?’
"It’s okay if you don’t want to tell me," Tristan said, making Valerie look at him again. "but now I know that you don’t have a husband. So if something happens to you or you need help watching over your son, don’t hesitate to ask for my help," he continued, taking out his wallet from his blue pants pocket then taking out a black-colored business card and giving it to Valerie.
Valerie looked at the business card, which contained Tristan’s full name along with his job, complete with his phone number and email as well.
"I used to work as a bodyguard and spy, and I happen to be assigned to spy on someone in this area. I live not far from here, So whenever you need me, I will come because I work my duties from my rented house," Tristan explained seriously.
"You..." Valerie looked at Tristan with skepticism. "You’re a spy?"
Tristan nodded, raising his eyebrows.
"And how can you do tasks guarding you have to stand by to help me?" Valerie asked with a thin smile.
"I just need to monitor the CCTV cameras that I’ve installed in my target’s house. I monitor them at my rental house... using an advanced computer, also with my phone. I can monitor from outside, and then report the person’s activities to my boss... I don’t need to engage in activities that cause conflict... It’s like being a hacker," Tristan explained, whether true or false because he might be the same Tristan who is willing to comply with all of Karina’s wishes to disrupt Valerie’s relationship with Damian.
