Revenge Wears Red Lipstick-Chapter 120: Letters
He patted her head one more time, gaining her attention. "Will you eat if I eat with you?" He asked.
Rhea’s brown eyes dilated once again as she nodded.
Dante gestured to the nurse to ask the cook to make food for her. However, when the food is prepared, they would still bring it to her room because she wasn’t allowed outside except on days she needed to take her medications.
"Tell the servants to prepare a table by the garden. We’ll be eating it there," he instructed the nurse.
She hesitated, parting her lips to speak.
"But...she’s not allowed to step out of this room."
"We’re having our lunch by the garden," Dante replied, firm and deadpan this time.
"Of course." The nurse gave a quick nod before leaving the room to relay the message.
"Dante, father is going to be angry once he finds out that I left this room. He’s going to...he’s going to call them to tie me up again and beat me up," she said, her voice trembling with fear.
Dante smiled at her. As if he was going to stay here and watch something like that happen again.
"He’s not going to hurt you ever again," he assured, standing up to his full height. "I’ll make sure that never happens again."
He stretched out his hand forward which she contemplated for a long time before taking.
Together, they left the room.
The security guards stationed outside wanted to intervene but a silent glare from Dante forced them to keep their mouths shut.
Rhea was holding tightly to Dante’s hand, her body shaking with fear of getting beaten up once again all because she left her room.
But she was glad that Dante was here. Whenever he came to see her, she had the chance to do other things that she couldn’t do.
Once the sun fell on her skin, she relaxed.
Her room was blinded to keep the sun from seeping in through the curtains.
The garden was her favorite place to go to whenever Dante was around, and she missed going there because the last time she’d stepped out of the house was almost a year ago, when Dante had visited her.
"Do you like it?" He asked when he noticed a smile on her lips.
She gave a quick nod before facing him. "You look sad. Did something happen to you?"
Now this was one of those moments when Dante thought Rhea behaved like an adult.
He shook his head, trying to keep the smile on his face.
"Nothing happened," he managed to say.
He came to see Rhea because he missed her, but that wasn’t the only reason. He also wanted to escape what had been happening in Lexora, especially with him searching for Eva.
It’s been six months already, and there has not been a single new report.
His father said he’d buried her, but Dante didn’t want to believe she was dead, just like that.
Eva was a fighter, and he knew she was going to survive, one way or the other. She always did.
Rhea didn’t look convinced by his reply at all. She was about to say something but once she saw a butterfly, her attention was immediately diverted as she chased after it.
Dante was glad. He didn’t think he was strong enough to answer her questions at the moment.
An hour later, the servants brought lunch and the table was set.
The meal certainly wasn’t a quiet one as Rhea started to blab about her dreams and nightmares she’s had while Dante nodded attentively.
It was only a little while longer, just a little while longer and he would get her out of there.
Dante watched Rhea eat. She didn’t clear her plate like he thought she would, but she managed to eat at least half of the food which was good enough for him.
He spent more time with her before leaving in the evening.

"You really need to take care of yourself more, Dante. When was the last time you slept? And I don’t mean like a thirty-minute nap, I mean sleep?" Rico asked, staring at his friend with a concerned look.
"I slept last night," he replied absentmindedly, checking the locations of the cemeteries that had been newly dug up. Even though the authorities were against his idea, all he needed to do was pay a large sum of money for them to keep their mouths shut.
The souls of the dead certainly may not be pleased with him disturbing their peace, but he had to do what needed to be done.
"You were here with me last night," Rico recalled, his eyes narrowed at him. "And not once did I see you sleep. You know what? Enough talking, go home."
Dante scowled at Rico who wasn’t going to back down so easily. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"I already started checking those cemeteries before you even came here so you need to leave and let me continue my work," he said.
Dante despised going home. Things didn’t feel the same back home anymore. He’d lived alone long before Eva came into his life.
For the last few months, she came into his life and completely changed everything. His house felt lonelier now that she was no longer there.
He missed her snarky remarks, her scowls, and her smile.
"Hey, are you even listening to me?" Rico flicked his finger in front of Dante to get his attention. "Go home."
Dante had a feeling Rico wasn’t going to let him be at the hideout in peace, so he simply went home. He could still get some more work done there in peace.
Reaching the mansion, the heavy feeling crept onto Dante’s heart. The empty house, quiet. He’d chased all the servants away because he didn’t want them around. No one was around, just him.
Now he regretted coming back. The lights were out, keeping everything in darkness, but Dante still managed to find his way to his bedroom.
He threw his suit jacket on the bed and opened a drawer. He took out what seemed to be a box with envelopes inside—more like letters, letters of him apologizing to Eva and one day, he wished she would read them and forgive him.
He pulled out a pen, drowning himself in writing more apologetic letters.
