Revenge Wears Red Lipstick-Chapter 151: Dinner Date
Eva arrived at Dante’s mansion an hour later. She’d been worried since the entire day when he missed her calls.
He’d been discharged not long ago, and although she could forget about him and focus on her plans, she couldn’t bring herself to do so.
After all, he saved her life, more times than she could count.
She stared up at the mansion where she’d lived for months with him. Pretended to be a happy married couple until they eventually became one right before disaster struck them.
Staring at the structure gave her a feeling of nostalgia that a small part of her regretted coming here.
"What am I doing here?" She wondered out loud, a deep frown on her face.
All she could remember was Dante asking for a little date at home and she’d obliged without hesitation as if she was in a trance.
"This is a bad idea." She’d only wanted to check up on him, not to have a little date.
Eva clutched her purse, her eyes scanning the mansion.
She could just turn, enter her car, and drive out immediately without being caught by him.
She did as her mind advised, but the moment her hands touched the car door, a voice called out to her.
"Are you the one my brother is expecting?"
The voice was feminine and pure. It sounded childish and yet mature.
Eva turned to the person and her eyes landed on a teenager who had a few facial similarities with her mortal enemy.
Rhea ran up to Eva and nearly bumped into her if Eva hadn’t placed her hand in between them, quickly stopping her.
"You shouldn’t run barefoot," Eva said, her gaze landing on Rhea’s bare foot.
"Oh...I’m sorry about that. I heard the car pull up and thought to invite you in. You’re the one my brother is waiting for, right?" Rhea repeated once more, a small smile on her lips, highly expecting Eva’s reply.
Eva gave a quick dip of her neck which caused the girl’s eyes to sparkle like glitter.
"Come on in then. He’s been waiting for you."
Eva was about to object but Rhea didn’t give her any chance at all as she linked their arms together and gently pulled Eva towards the entrance of the mansion.
Eva cursed under her breath. She’d just missed her chance of escaping. And now, she had to face Dante.
"You shouldn’t run out like that, especially barefoot," Mylo reprimanded.
Eva made brief eye contact with him. She’d only interacted with him once, back when she and Dante were still fooling his family about their marriage.
"But I’m fine, see." Rhea lifted her legs up which were stained with sand now. But other than that, they looked good.
"Still."
Rhea pouted when Mylo didn’t want to drop the topic. "I found Dante’s guest. She was about to leave but I quickly stopped her." She pulled Eva forward, as if showcasing a prize. "Isn’t she beautiful?"
He dropped to the couch and took the remote then tuned to a channel, completely ignoring Rhea’s question.
She scowled at him but didn’t say anything to him.
She turned to Eva, her big doe eyes big and filled with innocence.
"Let’s go meet my brother."
Without giving Eva the chance to reply, she pulled her towards the open kitchen where Dante was making a meal.
When Eva saw him wrapped in an apron, looking all cute, she resisted the urge to take a picture of him.
"Your guest is here, Dante," Rhea announced, loud enough for Dante to hear—almost too loud that he nearly jumped on his two feet. "And I brought her to you."
"Thanks, Rhea. Have some strawberries," he handed her a small bowl of strawberries and ushered her out of the kitchen.
"Aren’t you supposed to be resting? Why are you in the kitchen cooking?" She questioned, glancing behind him to sneak a piece on what he was making but she couldn’t tell. But one thing was for sure, it smelled delicious.
"I should be, but we already agreed to have a little date at home," he reminded. "I’m not going to die if I move a little bit, my love."
Eva gave him a subtle side eye but didn’t say a word. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
She dropped her bag on the counter and took a seat.
"I did try finding him, but so far, there’s been no useful trails. But one thing is for sure, he’s still in the city," he said, returning to the pot and stirring the ingredients together.
"How sure are you?" Eva asked.
Dante shrugged. "The city is raging too much to make it impossible for him to escape like his other partners. And if he left, CCTV cameras would have caught him."
Eva gave a brief nod.
She’d asked Ryan if he could find Mr. De Rossi and he’d given a similar reply. The old man could be hiding under the ground for all they know.
But with time, he would be found.
"Why don’t you wait in the living room while I make dinner?" He says.
Eva gave it some thought. She wasn’t close with Mylo and they barely ever shared a word with each other. He gives her the creeps and although Dante had already told her he helped in rescuing their sister, she couldn’t swallow down the instincts that screamed at her that he wasn’t completely a changed person.
But who was she to judge? He never directly hurt her.
"I think I’ll stay here and help you cook," she responded, grabbing an apron and wearing it before Dante could object.
"You’re only going to burn down my poor kitchen if you help."
She scowled heavily at him.
"I’ve been taking cooking lessons in my free time, you know?" Dante was about to say a word but Eva continued. "How about you move over and I’ll show you what I’ve learnt lately."
Amused, Dante raised his hands in surrender and stepped aside. But he glanced at the fire extinguisher just in case.
