Chapter 327: Chapter 125: Providing You with an Apprentice

Aske charged forward rapidly, reaching behind to draw his long spear and swept it toward Agrippina.

Suddenly his voice rang out in the mind communication: "Peggy, go around to the back, Mia, cover and be ready to retreat at any moment."

To a flesh power wielder, slashing was more threatening than piercing because a stab wound could heal at any moment, but if an arm or a head were chopped off, it had to regrow, which was more troublesome.

Therefore, faced with Aske’s sweeping spear, Agrippina didn’t maintain her "keep hitting me, I lose if you kill me" stoic stance, but rather, the flesh of her right arm suddenly grew hardened keratin, transforming into a sturdy bone shield.

Aske’s sweeping spear came to an abrupt halt, and with his left hand, he drew his battle axe for an overhead chop; the latter had her shield up in front, then intense pain erupted from her back.

Peggy’s hot melt blade had stabbed into her spine, causing severe damage to her flesh in an instant. The high temperature of the hot melt blade wasn’t an extraordinary power, so it wasn’t suppressed by the earring’s halo and immediately carbonized the flesh near the wound.

"Retreat!" Before Peggy had time to assess the situation, Mia leaped out from her shadow, wrapping her in a teleportation cloak into the shadow realm. Aske also retreated swiftly, taking out a shield to block in front of his chest.

The wounded Agrippina exploded yet again, and her dark purple blood splattered out, landing on the shield in Aske’s hand, which immediately began to corrode at a visible rate.

In midair, Aske threw away the shield, and he violently hurled the long spear forward, commanding again in the channel:

"Mia, retreat!"

With her Shadow II ability, Mia could dissolve into any size of shadow. She had originally been in Agrippina’s shadow but upon hearing the command, immediately transitioned into the rapidly moving shadow of the thrown spear, instantly distancing herself from Agrippina.

Almost simultaneously, flames ignited within the exploded flesh and shadow—if Mia hadn’t left, she would have likely been killed by the light damage.

"Big wind," someone spoke in the communication channel.

Thira spread her hands and whipped up a gale, quickly extinguishing the flames in the opponent’s shadow.

The exploded flesh coalesced back into form; Agrippina’s brow furrowed slightly because the flames burning in the shadow were actually a type of poison—the smoke produced by the burning could stealthily erode the body of anyone who inhaled it.

This was a treacherous trick she had recently devised but in the first battle, the opponent had seen through and dispersed it. It seemed this team knew her way of fighting like the back of their hand.

"Flesh poison," Aske suddenly said. "That exploding, splashing corrosive effect of yours contains the power of law, right?"

"You guess?" Agrippina giggled coquettishly.

"The poison of corruption within flesh," Aske said, "it can corrode not just physical matter but also extraordinary powers, truly powerful, but it’s useless if it doesn’t hit."

Agrippina’s face darkened: "Do you really think a demigod has only these few tricks?"

"Of course not," Aske said. "But is it worth it? To squander your precious spirituality here for such small fries like us."

His words hit Agrippina’s sore spot. Of course, she had higher-level methods. Not to mention killing this team, even poisoning all the people of Innsbruck would be easy for her.

The problem was whether she could survive after using her abilities. Under the current circumstances, consuming spirituality equated to shortening one’s life, and killing people had no benefits other than to vent anger. The members of the Pure Blood Monastery were arrogant madmen, indeed, but madness didn’t equate to stupidity.

"A few more years, and the Magic Tide will rise enough to allow demigods to move freely," Agrippina said with a cold laugh. "Even if I waste a bit of spirituality here, what does it matter? It can always be replenished."

"The precondition is you have to live until then," Aske said. "After this civil war, Emperor Otto’s South Expedition Church Court will be happening next spring and summer, and the Pure Blood Monastery doesn’t plan to engage in battle? You dream of restoring the glory of the Ancient Solomon Empire; are you going to stand by and watch Italy be conquered by the Franks again?"

"How could the Church Court lose?" Agrippina said disdainfully.

"The Church Court may not lose, but the Pure Blood Monastery will certainly make a move. This is the unspoken accord between you and the Church Court," Aske said calmly, "No one knows what the future holds, how many demigods there are on the Emperor’s side. If I were you, I’d prepare for the worst."

Agrippina was at a loss for words. The guy before her had seen through her apprehensions, grasped the future war situation, and even guessed the Pure Blood Monastery’s plans for the next year with uncanny accuracy.

She, of course, could not afford to waste more of her spirituality here. In fact, she had not anticipated that these Wolfhounds would be so troublesome, having used her Law Power twice in succession to no avail.

Alberto, the commander of the Wolf Family’s army and the Half-Demigod of Hidden Strings, had clearly and deliberately hidden these people’s true strength from her in their earlier communications.

The consumption of spirituality from the poison of the flesh was considered minimal within the laws, but even that could not withstand consecutive explosions, especially with absolutely no effect, driving one to madness.

"If I let you off like this," Agrippina said with a cold, hollow laugh, "would my disciple have died in vain?"

"What if we offered you a disciple to replace him?" Aske suddenly said.

Agrippina was taken aback at his words, a replacement for me?

Her gaze turned to Peggy.

"Of course, this would still need to be agreed upon with Peggy," Aske added.

Agrippina: ......

So you haven’t even settled this amongst yourselves yet! You really had the nerve to say it!

Peggy, too, was a bit stunned upon hearing this, yet since it was Aske who had spoken, she obediently nodded her head, "All right."

"Don’t be in a hurry to agree; think it through," Aske said earnestly, "The Pure Blood Monastery indeed possesses a lot of knowledge about the ’Lord of Filth’, which could effectively strengthen your subsequent power. However, they are a rather mad religious faction, whose mission is to restore the glory of the Ancient Solomon Empire without choosing means to clear all obstacles in their path. You should be prepared for this."

"The Ancient Solomon Empire..." Peggy mused, "Is the East Solomon Empire also the Ancient Solomon Empire?"

"The Eastern Luo is the legitimate successor of the Ancient Luo," Aske replied.

"Little girl, are you from the East Solomon?" Agrippina abruptly asked.

"Mm-hmm," Peggy nodded, "I’m from Constantinople."

Agrippina’s expression lightened slightly. To the Pure Blood Monastery, which advocated the Solomon lineage, the citizens of Constantinople represented the Solomon people who had been Hellenized in their culture, which was marginally acceptable.

If Aske had brought a Frank or Celt to be her disciple, she would have never accepted it.

"Even so, it still doesn’t mean she qualifies to be my disciple," Agrippina said arrogantly, arms crossed, "My deceased disciple was at least at Level 19. What level is she? Not even Level 5, right?"

"Level doesn’t determine everything," Aske gestured to the side, "Let’s talk over there in the shadows."

Next to the trench, there was a crude tunnel. Aske led the way with Peggy, while Agrippina followed behind without any worry of trickery.

After all, she was a Demigod, and should the other party engage in any conspiracy or deceit, they had to consider the terrifying prospects of mutual destruction. If she were truly driven to the brink, a single committed blow unleashing her spirituality would suffice to annihilate them.

But what about this "Wolfhound" team leader, exposing his back to her without any defenses? Was he not afraid she might strike suddenly?

Oh, they had a Mind Mage. She figured that they must have sensed her current lack of hostility.

Agrippina immediately felt a subtle irritation. The Mind Sequence, filthy heretics.

The remaining girls, following Aske’s order, stayed put, showing some signs of restlessness and unease.

But soon after, the three emerged from the tunnel once more.
