Rise of The Anti God-Chapter 750: The Weakness Of Nethereal Beings
"Are you trying to mock us, or are you just ignorant?" Mira asked in a pissed-off tone.
"Mira..." Akira's low yet cold voice made Mira lower her head with an apologetic expression.
"Damien has only lived among humans, so it is only natural he doesn't know much about us. As for your question, Damien, we can't use such a weapon even if we get our hands on it. Only humans can use it, and even then, only the experts among them can do it. It runs purely on ethereal energy..." As Akira said this, her eyes lit up as she suddenly thought of something.
Damien slowly nodded as he felt that it made sense that nethereal beings couldn't use any artifacts that run on ethereal energy.
"Then why can't we make something similar to that? Or is it too complicated?" Damien asked this because one thing he noticed after coming to this world was that ghouls didn't seem to be using many formations or fancy artifacts like humans.
Akira sighed as she said, "That is because the unstable and chaotic nature of our nethereal energy makes it very hard for us to create formations that can run on their own as long as it has a supply of energy. Of course, we can make nethereal formations to a certain level, but something complicated like the Death Ray is impossible for us to create since even if we made a replica, our nethereal energy would make it blow itself up before we can use it. Ideally, a nethereal cultivator can make it as long as they have perfect control over their nethereal energy and won't kill themselves while drawing up formations."
"Eh? People die while drawing formations? How so?" Damien was surprised to hear this.
Akira explained, "I don't know if you have ever drawn formations on your own. But if you did, then you must know how you have to channel your energy in such a way that you have to activate each line in a formation drawing with the precise amount of energy to not destroy it. Humans and those who can use ethereal energy may not find it hard to do or dangerous. But for us nethereal beings, it can mean life or death. Since our energy is so chaotic, it is dangerous if we try to suddenly regulate the energy within our body. Most of the time, it ends up destroying the nethereal core points or cripples the cultivator entirely. This is why you might notice that we don't have many formation experts among us. Not everybody wants to put their life at risk so easily, but that is also why alchemists and formationists are highly respected among us. Of course, we enslave humans for these purposes as well but do not trust them with anything important."
Damien was surprised to know that nethereal beings had such a hard time practicing alchemy or making formations.
He never faced such problems despite using Fallen Flames to make pills. The Fallen Flames was surely a fire of nethereal origin, and even if it was chaotic, Damien was able to control it with ease.
"You seem a bit surprised? Don't tell me you never faced such problems when using your nethereal energy?" Akira asked with a hint of surprise.
"I don't mean to brag, but I am something of an alchemist where I came from. I was able to concoct Supreme Tier Pills using this..." Damien summoned his Fallen Flames as both Akira and Mira were astonished to see jet-black flames dancing on his palm.
These flames definitely seemed of nethereal origins, but they could also tell that it was no ordinary nethereal flames.
"Impressive...I had no idea you could conjure such beautiful flames..." Akira said with a proud look, while Mira had a dazed expression as she was captivated by the aura of his flames.
She was in love with her own flames to the point she felt nobody could ever beat her when it came to turning things to ashes. However, seeing these jet-black flames made her feel goosebumps.
"And to think you could actually concoct Supreme Tier Pills without facing any difficulty...If word of this gets out, even the Daemon King would have you escorted over there, and who knows how many others would try to take advantage of you. Your origins would also only complicate things," Akira said with a grave look and added, "That is why you should never tell this to anybody else, even though I feel that you are prudent enough to know these things. But you are free to practice alchemy here alone if you want. Who knows when our clan might need someone like you. We are barely holding ourselves together at this point, and part of it is my fault," Akira said as she firmly pressed her lips together.
Damien nodded with a complicated look since he knew that his Godwin Clan was not in a good state. People consider his aunt to be the last direct descendant of the Clan, and since she hasn't married, he could only imagine how heavy the responsibilities on her shoulders must be.
"Aunt, you don't have to worry. I will try my best to get strong enough to support you one day. I won't let you be alone in anything," Damien said with firm determination, making Akira's lips part as she looked at him with a moved expression.
Even if he was just a young man with a cultivation that was nowhere strong enough for him to face the world, Akira couldn't help but feel as if his words made her feel a sense of security and confidence she never expected to feel.
She looked up at him and placed her hand on his chest as she said, "It is my duty as your aunt to protect you and not let you get in harm's way. But if you are so determined to fight beside me, then I will help you every step of the way. Why don't you start by showing me your fighting skills so that I know where you stand right now?"
