Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 271. An Unexpected Turn of Events
Chapter 271: Chapter 271. An Unexpected Turn of Events
Yon Niang watched the three left. Her face was filled with disgust. She wanted nothing but to kill all these villagers who had murdered her husband, but she couldn’t do that yet. She needed these villagers for her daughter’s sake.
She turned her attention to the table with the refreshments. She went to the table. A little enjoyment was okay, but she had no plan of touching the tea and cake. After everything that happened, she didn’t trust the villagers. They could try to poison her. She only ate the food and drink she prepared herself. She kept an eye on her daughter, who was playing in the park.
Once she sat down, Amon and Tuang Yin emerged from their hiding places. The table was set so it was right between the two. With the two coming from opposite sides simultaneously, Yon Niang’s attention was divided.
Tuang Yin’s hands were ablaze as she rushed forward.
Amon readied his Swan Dagger. He had a flexible range and thus could adjust his timing with Tuang Yin’s assault. Depending on who the Pledge Demon blocked, he would need to improvise.
There was also the matter of Yon Niang being a cultivator. Based on the power displayed by the Pledge Demon, Yon Niang should have the cultivation level of either the Intermediate Transformation Stage or Peak Transformation Stage.
For the success of their assault, they would need to ready a one-hit kill attack. To do that, Amon also readied his poison dagger. He saw no better way to achieve their objective. He risked exposing his poison ability to Tuang Yin.
Yon Niang didn’t immediately register the ambush. Her hand was still reaching for the teapot when she noticed Amon and Tuang Yin rushing at her.
When they were halfway, Amon sensed a strong killing intent coming from above. He also heard a loud call.
"Lin Mo! I finally got you...!!"
Amon stopped sprinting and used Lingering Shade Stride just when something fast dashed down from the sky.
Tuang Yin, surprised by the turn of events, also stopped rushing forward. She understood they needed to attack at the same time. If Amon canceled his attack, it was pointless for her to proceed.
Whatever hit the ground caused a dust cloud at the point of impact. When the dust cloud subsided, they saw a handsome man standing atop a large bird.
"Xian Yang...?" Amon identified the handsome man.
Xian Yang jumped down from the bird, which looked like a large sparrow. Amon quickly identified the bird as the Swift Spirit Sparrow. It was a Mid Superior Beast like the Great Eagle. While its maximum flight speed and endurance lost to the Great Eagle, it was superior in terms of maneuverability. This made it a more versatile combat companion.
Amon recalled the information about Xian Yang from his memory. Aside from being famous as the previous senior leader of the Virtuous faction, Xian Yang was also well known as a talented beast tamer and talisman master. His combat ability was nothing to speak of. He mostly relied on those two jobs in most situations.
Amon looked in Yon Niang’s direction. Her face showed that she was baffled by the situation. Yon Yu had stopped playing after Xian Yang landed nearby. She ran back to her mother.
"Tsk," Amon uttered. Xian Yang arrived at the worst situation. Their preparation to take out Yon Niang had now been ruined.
Tuang Yin was looking at Amon for instructions. She wasn’t sure what she should do. Should she proceed to attack Yon Niang?
Amon’s attention was on Xian Yang because he was the most pressing menace at the moment.
Xian Yang jumped down from his Swift Spirit Sparrow. He ignored everyone in that park except for Amon.
"I can finally take revenge for my sister today. Lin Mo, prepare to meet justice!" Xian Yang exclaimed.
"Justice? Don’t make me laugh. You sent her to take me out during the mission. You should have prepared for the risk. It’s you who sent your sister to her death," Amon returned.
Xian Yang’s face turned ugly upon hearing that. "It seems you won’t see the error of your way until I put you to the ground. Very well!"
"Hold...!"
Everyone turned to the one who had just spoken. It was Yon Niang. Yon Yu was hugging her legs.
"Who do you all think you are? How dare you come to our village and cause this ruckus?" She asked.
Xian Yang gave her a condescending look. He shooed her using his hand, "Go away, village woman. Do not interfere. I don’t beat women, but I’m not in the mood to be a gentleman right now. So, you better go away if you know what is good for you."
"How impudent! You will pay for that insolence!" Yon Niang hissed.
Xian Yang sneered, "Let’s see you try then."
"Mommy? I don’t like that man," Yon Yu told her mother.
"Yes, he needs to be punished. Don’t you think so, dear?" Yon Niang replied.
Xian Yang ignored the two villagers. He returned his attention to Amon. He knew Amon was a Beginning Transformation Stage cultivator while he was a Peak Transformation Stage cultivator. He did hear Amon had shown the capability to fight someone with higher cultivation on various occasions. However, that was when Amon fought the opponent alone. He wasn’t alone.
He whistled, and the Swift Spirit Sparrow behind him suddenly rose with incredible speed. It then dove back with equal speed. At the same time, Xian Yang rushed ahead. A slender and flexible long sword appeared in his hand. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
The Swift Spirit Sparrow was fast, but its attack was simple. Amon easily dodged its assault after ascertaining its trajectory. However, countless flashing lights immediately assailed him after his dodge.
These flashes came from Xian Yang’s swords. The sword lights were curved instead of linear, and they formed complex patterns. Amon’s swan dagger also flashed as he executed Infinite Phantom Slash.
The sword lights clashed with each other, producing unending clanging sounds. Amon retreated as the clashes happened. After he was out of the clashing area, his shirt was full of cut marks. Luckily, he wore the Jue Body Suit under his shirt, so he was not wounded.
Even though Xian Yang was not known for his combat capabilities, his swordplay was still a step above ordinary cultivators. Amon knew he would not win against this senior unless he resorted to using his deadly poison or utilizing the power from his mixed aether, which he wasn’t willing to expose unless necessary. Exposing it now would also make Yon Niang aware of his secret weapon. This would make it much harder when he dealt with her later.
When Xian Yang and Amon were about to clash for the second time, a shrill cry assailed them. They found themselves unable to move due to the cry. Even the Swift Spirit Sparrow made an emergency landing.
Amon recovered first. He had heard the cry before, so he knew what was happening. He looked in Yon Niang’s direction and saw the Pledge Demon had appeared above her.
Xian Yang might not have been the best during the Royal Academy mental test, but he was still above average. He recovered not long after Amon. He turned to the source of the cry and was surprised to see an unknown spirit beast there.
Amon thought quickly after seeing Xian Yang’s reaction. He yelled, "Thank you, Madam Yon Niang. Let us work together and take out this intruder!"
"What...?" Xian Yang uttered.
Xian Yang wasn’t aware of the situation in this village. He rushed here riding the Swift Spirit Sparrow as soon as he received the news from Gao Tien. All he knew was that the Nobles faction had sent a team here to take out Amon. He had been praying they didn’t finish the job before he arrived. He was elated when he saw Amon was still alive. He attacked immediately then.
Now, he wondered what happened to Gao Tien’s team. Why were they not around? They had departed earlier than him. After hearing Amon’s yell, it made more sense now. This prick had made an ally in this village! Gao Tien’s team must have fallen to the collaboration between Amon and this villager woman, who was clearly also a beast tamer.
’It didn’t matter,’ he thought. He didn’t believe a spirit beast tamed by a mere villager could be his pet’s match. He was going to show this villager the difference between a Royal Academy’s top graduate from a commoner. He took out a talisman. The words of power on the talisman glowed. He then threw this talisman in his pet’s direction.
The talisman was like a magnet. It flew and stuck on the Swift Spirit Swallow’s head. The glow from the talisman flowed into the sparrow’s body. Its aura intensified then.
"An augmenting talisman...," Amon muttered. He had heard that Xian Yang was a talented talisman master. Now that he saw with his own eyes, he knew this battle would be harder than it should be.
Xian Yang sent a mental command to the Swift Spirit Swallow to deal with the Pledge Demon. His main objective was Amon. As long as Amon’s ally was hindered, he believed he should be able to take out Amon.
