Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 302. Exit Strategy
Chapter 302: Chapter 302. Exit Strategy
While the carnal action was happening inside Gao Pan’s private quarter, Yu Jin paid close attention to the crowd outside. He had the same thought as Gao Pan that Gao Lan must be planning something. So, he was immediately on alert when he heard a commotion from the upper floor.
One of the Highwaymen came running with a report. "Sir, we have been attacked! Our brothers and sisters are fighting up there!"
"Who are they? And how many are their force?" Yu Jin asked.
"We can’t be sure of their number, but they are many. As to who they are, we can’t tell. Their faces are hidden."
"Hidden? Are they from the Demon Gang?"
The Highwaymen member shook his head. "They are not wearing Demon Gang’s masks and attires. Their faces are covered with black cloth."
"Fucking hell... Which asshole group dare to cause trouble to us?" Yu Jin cursed. He looked at the door to Gao Pan’s quarter. He was debating whether to tell Gao Pan about this trouble.
An explosive sound was heard as the entire place shook.
"What was that?" The Highwaymen member asked.
"It came from above...," Yu Jin said while looking up. "Let’s go! Call everyone!"
Yu Jin ran to the stairs. He didn’t know what was happening, but something that could have caused that kind of explosion was never good. Things seemed to be worse than he thought. He did not bother to tell Gao Pan. He had no time to lose. Gao Pan should have felt and heard the explosion himself. frёewebnoѵēl.com

Inside Gao Pan’s quarter, Gao Pan couldn’t feel or hear anything any longer. He was lying on the floor in a pool of black blood.
Gao Pan was poisoned by two of Amon’s Poison; the Fragile Bone Muscle Poison and the Black Slaughter Poison.
The Fragile Bone Muscle Poison was first administered. A small dose of the poison was lubricated all over Gao Lan’s lips. Gao Lan had, of course, consumed an antidote to the poison first. It was a small dose because Amon couldn’t make an antidote potent enough for the full-dose version.
As for the Black Slaughter Poison, it was too strong. Even a small dose could kill instantly, and there was no antidote. So, he gave her the version stored inside the poison cloud bullet. Gao Lan stored it inside her mouth, hidden between her upper teeth and lips.
The small dose of the Fragile Bone Muscle Poison took some time to exhibit its effect. Gao Lan waited until Gao Pan was fully affected. When it happened, she released the poison cloud bullet, injected aether into it, and spit it into Gao Pan’s mouth.
She needed to weaken Gao Pan first because she needed to make sure she could keep the poison cloud bullet inside his mouth when it exploded. If he was in full strength, his reaction might be fast enough to spit the bullet back out before it exploded. Also, the power of a full-strength Mystic Stage cultivator could still somewhat fight the effect of the Black Slaughter Poison.
Gao Lan looked at the corpse on the floor. She was happy this asshole was dead by her hand. However, she couldn’t help but shiver after seeing how deadly the poison was. She was rather skeptical when Amon explained it to her. She was ready to use a weapon to further assault Gao Pan when he was poisoned. Only after directly witnessing the scene did she believe it. It turned out Amon had such a powerful ability hidden.
It was not only his poison ability but also his uncanny ability to predict the opponent’s decision. All of this was Amon’s plan. She was offended at first when Amon asked her to tell him the details about what Gao Pan did to her.
Amon came up with the plan after listening to her story. He knew Gao Pan would violate her again if she appeared before the asshole another time. He also knew Gao Pan would choose to do it privately, but for that part, she could understand it herself.
She found it ludicrous now that Dao Se and she ever made Amon their enemy.
The room shook when Gao Lan was putting on a new dress. After dressing, Gao Lan used another saber to sever Gao Pan’s finger which wore a space ring. She then went to the door. She opened the door ajar and peeked outside. Only the customers were seen outside. All the highwaymen had rushed to the upper floor to deal with the attackers.
She was aware of this attack. It was Demon Gang members under disguise. This attack was a distraction to provide her with the chance to escape.
Once she made sure no one was watching the door, she slipped out. She donned a hooded cloak and walked toward the stairs. Many customers stayed on this floor and waited until they received a safe signal, but some went up the stairs to flee the place. She blended in with this group.
Coming out of the basement, she found the lobby of the ground floor in chaos. Everyone was fighting. There were a few holes in the wall. That was caused by Amon’s exploding talisman. When Amon showed her the exploding talismans, she finally understood why the boy asked them for flame powder in the past.
Several guests ran out from those holes in the wall. Some got hit by stray attacks. These people were wounded. A few died. Gao Lan ran to one of the holes. She chose the one where there were more black-clothed assailants than the Highwaymen.
The black-clothed assailants moved away and let her pass. Although she was covered by a hooded cloak, her cloak had a unique motif. The disguised Demon Gang members attacking this place were already told to be on the lookout for someone wearing that kind of cloak.
Once she was out, one of the black-clothed assailants made a strange whistle. All the black-clothed assailants pulled out immediately. They took the bodies of their wounded and dead, leaving no one behind. There were not many to take because they didn’t suffer many casualties. Amon picked the elites of his people for this operation, and the ambush took the enemies by surprise.
Yu Jin was pissed off seeing the enemies retreated. He was only starting to organize everyone to mount an effective counterattack. He was about to send the command to chase after the enemies when someone ran toward him while shouting frantically.
"Sir! Sir...! Bos Gao Pan... Bos Gao Pan is..."
"What is it? Why is Boss Gao Pan not up here yet?" He asked.
"He can’t! He... He is dead...!!"

The news of Gao Pan’s death spread quickly. Considering it happened when their headquarters were attacked with such loud commotion, the authorities couldn’t afford to overlook it. The Yan Clan used their influence to make it so the authorities sent someone who the Yan Clan could trust to oversee the investigation. This person was none other than Yan Fan.
The authorities didn’t care about the deaths suffered by the underworld members. They were only there for a show. However, the Yan Clan also asked Yan Fan to find Gao Pan’s murderer. They spent a large sum to get Gao Pan here to work for them. They couldn’t just let the one who did this go unpunished.
Yan Fan was displeased when he was forced to take this case. He planned to visit Yan Clan to complain after he was done checking the crime scene. However, once he laid eyes on Gao Pan’s corpse, he changed his mind. He suddenly became extremely interested. He spent almost the entire day there. He even called his unofficial deputy to the crime scene.
"He died the same way as those poisoned victims," Wei Linkun said.
"Yes... It is intriguing to see the strings of death suddenly stopped, and now it happens again," Yan Fan said.
"You think it is the same perpetrator?" Wei Linkun asked.
"It is safe to assume so. This poison is too unique. Not to mention abnormally powerful," Yan Fan answered.
"This man is the boss of this underworld organization, isn’t he? He is right in the heart of his base. Someone surely saw something."
"I have questioned the ones present during the incident. They said Gao Pan was last seen with a woman when it happened."
"You think she is the perpetrator?" Wei Linkun asked.
"Everyone here thinks she is," Yan Fan answered.
"But you don’t think so?"
Yan Fan didn’t immediately answer. After the pause, he said, "The girl they mentioned is named Gao Lan. She used to be the aide of another underworld overlord who had been eliminated. I checked her record before you arrived. I can’t link her to the previous incidents. Plus, Gao Pan had his way with her a year ago. I don’t understand why she only takes her revenge now."
"Maybe she didn’t have her poison then. Considering how powerful the poison is, it is probably hard to come by the ingredients. She might be traveling to find those ingredients."
"I think so too. However, her record doesn’t match that narrative. She never left this city during this one year."
"Never? Are you sure?"
"Everyone who goes in and out the city is recorded. Furthermore, I have her address. After what happened to her previous organization, she was put under watch due to Yan Clan’s request. Not an especially detailed surveillance, but at least the person who kept watch recorded that she always returned to one residence at least four days a week."
"Are we heading there?" Wei Linkun asked.
"I’m waiting for you before going there," Yan Fan answered.
