Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 491. Interrogated
Chapter 491: Chapter 491. Interrogated
Amon was taken out of his prison cell ten days after he was captured. From what he could perceive, they were underground, as were most of the rebels’ hideouts. The setting was similar to the hideout where he was captured the first time when he was still a student at the Royal Academy. He was brought into a large hall filled with people.
He was carried onto a stage at the center of the hall. A large metal crucifix was at the stage’s center. He was tied to the crucifix using engraved chains.
The engraved chains were stronger than the engraved ropes. Engraved ropes were only strong enough to bind a cultivator until the Mystic Stage. To bind a Spirit Stage or even a Lord Stage cultivator, one required the engraved chains. For the rebels to use these engraved chains to bind him, he took it as a sign of honor.
Amon surveyed the people around him while they chained him to the crucifix. He saw the three rebel elders sitting at the topmost platform. Ni Zheng was among the people standing by their side.
The hall was loud with murmurs because everyone was speaking. It quieted down only after Pan Lohuan lifted his hand. novelbuddy-cσ๓
He started speaking, "We rarely gather like this. We only do this for special occasions, like when we plan the fall of Qishurg City and the uprising of Fuxiang City. One was a success, while the other was a failure. That was fine. We know from the start we are punching upward. We face failures more than successes, but we don’t give up! As long as we don’t, opportunities will arise, like now."
He stood and pointed at Amon, "This man is the main commander of Prince Huang San’s force, the prince who announced that he would rid this kingdom of us. A laughable claim from an inexperienced royalty who never truly knows the hardship of life. Eradicate us? Many people more capable than him have tried to do so, but we are still here!"
The hall cheered with roars.
"Let’s hang his decayed body in the capital. Let them see how ludicrous their attempt to eradicate us is," A voice was heard among the crowd.
"Cut him into pieces and hang those pieces at different places in the capital," Another added.
More and more shouted their opinions. Each one tried to be more creative than the one before. Pan Lohuan let the commotion run for several minutes. He lifted his hand again to silence the room.
"The rotten officials of the kingdom executed my nephew, Pan Xisheng, in public. They shamed him when what he deserved was a burial for heroes. Such an atrocity can only be corrected once we topple the kingdom. I swear his name will be remembered by everyone as a hero instead of a criminal! This man here, the colonel of the kingdom, is more deserving of a dishonorable death. To execute him and expose his death is enough to bring us together, but this is not the only reason we gather. This man has a greater sin than being a member of the rotten kingdom. He is the person who betrayed us after the destruction of Qishurg City. This man here is the one who owned the Allure Beacon that destroyed Qishurg City almost nine years ago!"
The hall erupted into more chaos than before.
Pan Lohuan waved his hands, asking everyone to be quiet so he could continue, "We thought this man was our ally. We thought he had the same desire as us to destroy the corrupt Huang Clan who had reigned over this kingdom for far too long, but no! Turn out he is a two-faced bastard who screws both us and the kingdom. We know not why he destroyed Qishurg City, but we know that he doesn’t deserve the Allure Beacon left behind by the ancients. That treasure should be in our hands to be used for a good cause!"
The crowd went into cheers again. Pan Lohuan sat down. Ni Lulu took over the speech.
"We will now commence the interrogation! He will not be granted death until he tells us where he hides the Allure Beacon."
The crowd went wild like they were about to spectate an exciting show.
Three people came up to the stage, but Luan Xuan stopped them before they touched Amon.
"Wait!" He said and jumped to the stage. He landed in front of Amon.
The two stared at one another for a while. Luan Xuan said, "You look different now. To be honest, I completely forgot about you until I read the report about your background. You are Lin Mo, the brat we captured twenty-three years ago."
Amon didn’t say anything in response.
Luan Xuan continued, "Now that I thought about it, I should have suspected you as the one possessing the Allure Beacon because you mentioned you have knowledge about it. But after your escape, everyone kept saying you pretended to know about the artifact to save yourself. I thought that made sense. After all, you were just a kid. I never thought about you anymore since then. Apparently, that was a grave mistake."
Amon remained silent.
Luan Xuan grabbed Amon’s right ear. "What is it, cat got your tongue? Your appearance might have changed drastically, but your eyes... Those eyes also changed, but to me, they are still the same. Those annoying eyes that pretend to know no fear. Well, let’s see how long you can keep those eyes."
With a terrible tearing noise, Luan Xuan tore Amon’s right ear off.
"Xuan! Let the experts do it. You might accidentally kill him," Pan Lohuan reprimanded.
"Hehe. Don’t worry. He won’t die from a missing ear," Luan Xuan said. He was chuckling but was actually irritated. He expected Amon to wince in pain, but Amon’s expression never changed. Blood dripped from Amon’s torn ear, but Amon never uttered a voice.
"Heh, let’s see how long you can endure." Luan Xuan jumped to the upper platform and sat back in his chair.
The three who came up the stage resumed approaching Amon. They set up a table and put their tools on the table. The tools were a collection of different types of knives, hammers, pliers, and bottles filled with colorful liquid. After setting everything up, they started working.
*
For the next five days, Amon was cut, beaten, and burned, among other things. By then, he had very few skins still attached to his body. The skin still attached to his body had burned marks. His right arm was half ripped off. Bones were seen on that arm. Multiple bones inside him were broken. His left eye had been gouged and was now hanging from his eye socket by threads of nerves.
Every day, he was relentlessly tortured. He was only allowed to rest a few hours a day when he lost consciousness. The rest of his waking hours were spent under torment.
The folks passionately watched the torture during the first two days, but many lost interest on the third day. By the fourth day, many were absent from the great hall where the torture took place. They made excuses to spend time at another place inside the hideout.
The reason they lost interest was because the torture didn’t seem to have an effect. Amon never spoke. Whatever questions they asked, he remained silent. The occasional sound that came out of him was grunts of pain, but even those were rare.
The more interesting events came instead when unexpected things happened. Like when the torturers pour honey mixed with drugs to cause flesh-eating insects to devour Amon’s right arm. These flesh-eating insects ended up dead after consuming Amon’s flesh. The torturer kept putting more insects, and they kept dropping to the ground.
One torturer finally understood what happened to the insects when he accidentally cut Amon’s artery, which caused Amon’s blood to spurt to his face. The hall was then filled with the loudest scream of pain. It was not from Amon, though. The scream came from the torturer, whose face was melting due to Amon’s acidic blood.
Another unexpected thing was Amon’s tattooed left arm. No matter what the torturers did, they couldn’t cause harm to that left arm. This piqued the interest of even the rebel elders. They chalked it up to Amon having a special constitution that made his left arm extremely durable.
Several expert-level engravers and pill masters put in requests for Amon’s body once this was over. They were very interested in studying his indestructible left arm. Even his body’s other parts were also in demand. These experts noticed the torturers had trouble harming Amon’s body. His body was tougher than the average Intermediate Mystic Stage.
The torturers continued to torment Amon and ask him questions, but Amon never responded. This pissed them off. They became more brutal until Pan Lohuan was forced to replace them with different torturers. He was worried they might accidentally kill Amon due to their frustration.
This made everyone speechless. This was the first time they saw a torturer become mentally infirm by the tortured subject.
