Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 348: The Final Assault
Chapter 348: The Final Assault
As the second figure emerges, Gaza rises to his feet and hurriedly grabs him.
"What the-
As a bonafide fighter, the second
"Bezart, it’s me. Gaza"
"Huh?"
In his confusion, Gaza leans in and whispers into his ear in a tone of utmost urgency.
"Don’t say anything stupid and follow my lead"
Covered by a blanket of dust, this act was obscured from the view of others.
But not for long.
*Voom!
Ezra speeds to the dungeon site, stopping just metres away.
His abrupt stop conjures a small soundwave that blows away the blanket of dust, revealing the two figures underneath it.
Gaza, and the newcomer.
A replica of Gaza with hind legs and horns all covered in black skin, but smaller overall frame and his armour was brown rather than gold.
He had iron gauntlets of the same colour, with the tips of it made into gleaming claws.
Ezra’s eyes latched onto his figure.
"What’s your name?"
He asks, throwing away any courtesy after reeling in the fact that they were at the same level of strength.
"Who’s-
Bezart’s hoarse tone rises but Gaza dissuades him by slightly shaking his head.
"His name is Bezart, he’s my comrade"
"Okay. So he’s the one to signal the dispatch team?"
"Yes"
"Okay. Get on with it please"
"Right away"
With his hand on Bezart’s shoulder, Gaza turned him around before turning around himself and making his way to the dungeon gate.
Forcefully holding Bezart from looking behind, he leans and briefs him on their current situation in a very low tone.
"He’s a rank six incipient like us"
Bezart’s eyes widened. He hadn’t sensed it.
"That b@stard Khasavar got everything wrong, there’s an army of rank five and rank four incipients just far back waiting to attack"
"If we try to take them on our own, we’ll perish" Gaza’s tone was grave as he tapped Bezart’s shoulder.
"You know what to do"
Having understood the situation, Bezart nodded.
They reach the gigantic dungeon gate.
Pulling up his left arm, Bezart starts infusing energy into it, revealing a seal on his armour at the back of his hand and places it on top of the gate.
As part of planning, Khasavar put in a contingency in case they ran into unforeseen circumstances.
Exactly like this one.
The seal on his hand sent a signal to the other end, travelling extremely fast before the draped figure picked it up.
"Already?"
He was startled.
"What happened?" Khasavar appeared behind him.
"They sent the emergency signal"
"Hmm?!"
He was just as surprised.
For proud rank six incipients, dragons for that matter, to send the emergency signal this early, what exactly happened?
Regardless, they were protocols to follow.
"Speed up the gateways transportation speed and get the troops ready"
More essence was exhausted to speed things up.
Bezart turned, facing Ezra who also felt the changes.
"Is it done?" He inquires.
"It is" Bezart nods. "Now we wait for the third to arrive. Only then can the gateway be destabilized"
[...Something doesn’t seem quite right] said Zydrax, highlighting his suspicions.
Ezra furrowed his brows, and raised his voice to better interrogate the two Mythic ranks.
Right then, the dungeon starts shaking.
Ezra hastily steps back in caution.
As with the last two times, the dungeon’s entrance glowed. Lighting up brighter than the prevous times to which it released a large shockwave, unearthing the soil and blowing up a curtain of dust.
Alongside the dust, Gaza and Bezart were also pushed, but only a little.
A clap from Ezra split the curtain of dust to reveal the new figure.
Grey skin, a hardened face hosting two small tusks and red eyes like Ezra’s, it looked anything but friendly.
A grey square headed sledgehammer with long handle rested on his shoulder held in place with his left arm.
Not to mention how palpable its presence was, bearing down on the surroundings without any care in the world.
[A troll...] Zydrax muttered. [Didn’t think I’d see on of this level hanging around with dragons]
The newcomer turned to Gaza.
"Why haven’t you started the attack yet?"
Ezra was all ears, paying rapt attention.
Having regained his wits, Gaza replied.
"The info we had was wrong. There’s two rank six here and they have an army of rank four and five’s on standby"
"Didn’t you say you were going to stop the attack dispatch a team?!"
Gaza was caught off guard. In the heat of the moment he’d forgotten that Ezra could understand them.
Then he smiled.
"It matters not" he says. Looking Ezra in the eye.
"I have given my willingness to surrender" Ezra spoke, his voice booming. "Why are you still adamant on going to battle?!"
Is was the newcomer that replied him. "Because that’s the best way to make contributions"
"What?" Ezra was stunned.
Unlike Zydrax’s predictions, Orion hadn’t been discovered by a powerful organization.
It was instead discovered by a single individual who fortunately or unfortunately decided to keeps it’s existence a secret.
So rather than the normal case where they would move with the benefit of the entire race in mind, they were here with selfish intent.
Until Khasavar consolidated his ownership of the planet by placing his mark, they would not reveal its existence.
Therefore, it was impossible for them to honour Ezra’s suggestion.
Furthermore, they were hired help.
If they followed Ezra’s suggestion and accepted the surrender right off the bat, it would prove to Khasavar that their presence was unwarranted.
Which meant their contributions were be counted as minimal.
Of course one could argue that their presence was what intimidated ther enemy and caused such a situation.
But Khasavar would most likely cut their share short, and they couldn’t fight him if he did.
This was why Gaza never intended to honour Ezra’s suggestion from the start.
Major breakthroughs were always more harrowing than minor ones, making them valleys of sorrows for many.
All three were people close the threshold of the rank six, and without external resources, their chances of them successfully crossing to Transcendent rank was uncertain.
As such, they couldn’t let go of this chance since Khasavar had promised them external resources.
They had to properly subjugate the planet, showing their worth by removing the resistance.
In the rare case of no resistance just like now? it mattered nill.
Khasavar wasn’t monitoring them, so regardless of what actually happens, whatever they told him would be the truth.
The newcomer steadied his hammer, releasing waves of power, he had no more words to spare it seemed.
"Hehehe" Bezart snickered. Sharpening his armoured claws against one another as he reveals his true nature.
"I’m going to enjoy killing you"
Gaza smiled at Ezra whilst buffing himself with enhancements.
"Don’t be too angry. It’s nothing personal"
Their decision was clear.
Ezra was unnerved, he had an inkling things would turn out like this right from the start.
[...It seems I miscalculated] Zydrax speaks. [I apologize for not letting you kill that lizard from the start!]
’Don’t’ Ezra replied. ’No one’s right all the time. I don’t expect you to be either’
Taking out Skyfall in twin swords form, the dungeon quakes.
The earthquake this time was much larger than all the other times.
Gaza and co rise to the sky and Ezra follows suit, widening the distance between them as he did.
Could it be that Gaza lied about the number of Mythic ranks as well?
The dungeon took far longer than before and brightened slowly.
Suddenly, it let off a light that stretched, covering the whole place in white light, emcompassing Ezra’s entire view as he couldn’t see beyond it.
As of when it receded, Ezra caught a glimpse of the unthinkable.
Thousands of beasts stood where there was nothing just minutes ago.
Immediately, Ezra turns and makes his way to his own army with utmost haste.
Standing alone in enemy territory was I’ll advised.
Meeting Frederick on the way, he gives out an order in an urgent tone.
"Negotiations have failed" He says. "Gather everyone for battle"
Frederick’s eyes widened then he nodded.
He approached in haste because of the sudden outburst of white light, fearing for Ezra’s safety, but thankfully, his liege was fine.
Quickly, he sends a predetermined message to all those still gathering members.
The sign was the linked linked destruction of communication scrolls.
So, Frederick destroyed his and the rest also self imploded soon after.

Meanwhile, Ezra reached the army members, staying in the air as he stretches his sight to see the happenings at the dungeon site.
Apart from the initial thousand sent in first, more and more of them poured out of the gate, joining the long file.
Right in the moment before he ran, he felt the levels of the gathered beasts.
They gave off wavelengths of master ranks, alongside one or two of Grandmaster level.
Quickly, Ezra let out his orders in a booming voice.
"Steady your ourselves and straighten your ranks. The enemy has chosen to battle, so we will respect their wishes and respond in kind"
Murmurs erupted, but Grandmasters shut them up and organized them into a single army.
The siblings approached Ezra.
Now peak Grandmasters, they were a bit more relaxed around him.
"So, we fight?" Theron asked.
"How in the world did you miss the whole announcement? Are you sure there’s nothing wrong with your ears?" Johan interjected. Prompting a vein to awake in Theron’s head.
"Of course we fight!" Johan continued, raising his new blade in the air. "We’ll finish them off and then eat some good food! Isn’t that right, Ezra?"
Ezra nodded slowly, holding onto his chin like he was contemplating the secrets of life.
"That’s right" Ezra responded. "I’m suddenly craving the meat of a snow cockatrice"
"What? Such bad taste, after such battles, we’ll eat chicken, mole chickens"
The others just shook their heads, giggling at the ridiculousness.
But it had been effective in defusing the tense atmosphere.
Ten minutes pass, beasts had not stopped coming from within the gateway.
One could only wonder how essence Khasavar was burning up to achieve such a feat.
Whilst they didn’t take as much essence as Mythic ranks individually, transporting thousands of them was no easy feat.
Another ten minutes pass, beasts are exiting the entrance.
By now, it’s size was comparable to Ezra’s.
To be noted, new master ranks were also arriving to Ezra’s side, but very little.
Another ten minutes pass, the Grandmasters scattered to gather master rank combatants had reached Elisa’s position.
With haste they pass through her portals and exit at the backline of the army, before heading to the front.
Five minutes later, Elisa herself appears, prompting the end of new arrivals on Ezra’s side.
But beasts were still exiting the dungeon entrance.
"We better stop them, or we’ll be overrun"
Ezra nodded, he was thinking the same thing.
With words having failed, both armies stood in silence, a battle was imminent.
(A/N: Bezart...sounds like the name of an artist)
