Chapter 360: Absorbing a Galaxy

Ezra exits the portal to arrive in front of the core.

"You’re here. Good"

[Shall we begin?] Zydrax echoed.

"Huu..." taking a breath, Ezra places his hands on the core.

"Here goes nothing"

Projecting the intent to absorb the core into his universe, his soul releases a beam of aurora energy.

Its deep blue colour swallowed the core and continues on.

"Ohh"

The core shook for a brief second before settling back into calmness.

It extends upon the beam of light connecting all the planetary bodies, swallowing them into the same blue colour.

As it raced over the beams of light, it encompassed the planetary bodies in its way as well, before moving onto the next one.

At the same time, the core began to undergo noticeable changes.

It begins to steadily shrink.

"Hm?" Ezra was perplexed, but since the core didn’t voice any complaints, he simply watched.

As with the core, the planetary bodies covered in aurora energy start shrinking.

All of a sudden, a rip in space opens in right in between Ezra and the core.

Without any suspense, the core is pulled into the portal, and the barriers placed around it immediately dissolve.

On that note, the planets held onto by the beam of light are slowly pulled over, whilst shrunken.

Soon, the planetary bodies come into view.

Shrunken to the size of about twice the size of the core, they are pulled into the portal one after the other, with increasing speed as well.

Through all this, Ezra was unable to move, but he felt no pain.

Thirty hours passed like so, of which the last planet was pulled into his universe.

With its work done, the portal closed and Ezra was released from his static position.

Calming himself, Ezra beheld the changes he could feel within himself.

It was expected with the sudden influx of 10,000+ planets.

The platform he previously stood on had disintegrated, so Ezra floated aimlessly in space, before opening a portal to his universe.

Entering, he found himself looking at the planets from above.

He could see Orion back in orbit with the rest of its solar system, and the sun restored to its rightful place.

Looking beyond, he saw many other solar systems placed a good distance from one another.

Just then, a familiar voice called to him.

It was the core.

"Not bad" Ezra replied, looking around for where the voice originated from.

"Where are you?"

it replied.

"I see" Ezra nodded.

"Hm?"

[That would be me]

Zydrax’s voice rang out from seemingly nowhere.

"Zydrax? What happened?"

the core complained.

[I believe it would be better to let me rearrange the planets]

[I can do it better]

[I can]

the core grunted, and then promptly descended into insistent bickering.

Ezra was lost to the situation, making a hollow laugh.

"Both of you, stop" said Ezra. "Zydrax, leave the planet’s rearrangement to the core. We have to check the construct"

With permission granted, the core got to work, and Zydrax withdrew.

With that, the bickering ended.

’Status’

The construct or the Sovereign system, opened before him immediately.

{Sovereign System*}

[Attributes] [Abilities] [Dominion] [Subordinates] [Renown]

"Hmm? You changed it?"

[I figured having ’status’ as both the activation word and a function was not the smartest idea]

Ezra nodded in agreement, and then tapped the ’Attribute’ function.

He was going to take as much time as needed to thoroughly understand the construct before doing anything else.

So he begins very predictably with the first column.

{Attributes}

Name: Ezra Zephyr

Race: Fledgling Sovereign

Age: 22

Cultivation level: Rank 2 Transcendent

"Pretty straightforward" Ezra remarked.

Apparently, whilst going through all that chaos, he’d advanced a minor realm since arriving at Transcendent rank.

How fortunate.

[Would you rather have it complicated instead?] Zydrax quipped.

"No" Ezra shook his head slightly. "This’ll do. Hmm, how many minor ranks are there in the Transcendent rank?"

[Six in total, if I remember correctly]

"And after?"

[After Transcendence is the Nascence stage, people in this stage are called Nascents, and after that is the Ascendency stage, called ascendants and after which is the Constellation stage, who are called Constellations]

"That’s the stage you were at before, wasn’t it?"

[Indeed it was]

Ezra lightly chuckled "So it’s not that much farther, I’ll surpass you in no time"

This time it was Zydrax that chuckled, sounding very amused.

"What is it?" Ezra asked.

[Oh, nothing] Zydrax replied succinctly. [I look forward to seeing you achieve it]

It would be unwise to dampen his eager spirit. As they say, ignorance is bliss.

Zydrax sighed within like an adult listening a toddlers dream.

It would take many times the effort it took to reach his current rank to reach just the doorstep of Ascendency.

Moreover, Ezra didn’t seem to realize it, but he lost the home advantage he had as per his reincarnation.

Despite his ignorant view, Zydrax wholeheartedly believed he could, no, would achieve, as he would also do his best efforts to make such a future a reality.

Just, it would probably take much much longer than Ezra was estimating.

’Or maybe...?’ Unbeknownst as to why, Zydrax dreamed too.

’Maybe I might get to witness a miracle?’

It didn’t seem too much to ask for. After all, their arrival to this point could only be summed up as a miracle in itself.

Zydrax was suddenly eager to see what future awaited them.

What would you know? They were already in the makings of that future, they just needed to advance steadily.

’This will take a while’ Zydrax thought, with a metaphorical smile on his face.

Ezra on the other hand opened the second function for perusal.

This time, it expanded into a lot of context.

{Abilities}

:: As a sovereign, you are entitled to an unlimited number of subordinates, subjected to your will.

:: Proving their loyalty through strength, the greater the strength of a subject, the more power they can draw from you.

:: Distance ceases to hinder communication with your subordinates, you can now speak straight into their minds.

:: Within the expanse of your universe, you are unmatched. As such, only beings beneath you in strength may reside within.

:: With a universe set in your soul, a pathway to the highest peaks of the life hierarchy emerges. Expand your influence to ascend.

:: Overlap a space with a part of your universe and claim sovereignty over it.

:: As a universe creator, you have achieved a pathway to Aurora energy, a primal energy known only to other universe sovereigns, but it can only be used within your universe.

:: Using Aurora energy, recreate any item within your universe that has been sufficiently grasped.

:: Introduce new elements into your universe at any and all times.

:: Lock away coordinates of any part of your universe to prevent others from entities.

:: Although tied to your existence, the universe isn’t tied to your physical being, enter and exit at all times.

:: Place a mark to serve as entrances or exits at all times.

:: Instantly arrive at any part of your universe you desire.

:: Plot the chart of both the stars and planets however you wish.

"Wow" Ezra exclaimed. Perusing each ability with little haste.

At the same time, Zydrax’s doubts started melting away as he read through the abilities, particularly

’Well’ Zydrax was flabbergasted. ’If it isn’t another miracle’

If it turns out to work as described, Ezra’s arrival at the ascendancy could take less time than even Ezra himself estimated.

Laughing within, Zydrax thought to himself. ’How ridiculous’

Meanwhile, the moment Ezra was done perusing the set of described abilities, he was endowed with the knowledge as to how to activate them.

The new wave of information imprinted upon him felt nothing like it.

Instead, it felt like he’d known it all along.

Despite this, he wasn’t endowed with knowledge of how they worked. So naturally, Ezra sought to test them out, as would anyone else.

For one, he already figured his incessant teleporting was thanks to

Secondly, it seems the permission he’d granted the core was the use of his ability.

Which was for the best, Ezra knew nothing about plotting the path of planets, whereas, that was what the core was made for.

With those two sorted, Ezra’s gaze was pulled to the ability.

The ability to theoretically have an infinite amount of subordinates was very enticing, but he’d need to do multiple tests to confirm its limits.

Already, he could see one such limit implied from

’Anyone above me in cultivation can’t stay within the Universe, does that mean I can’t make people stronger than me my subordinates?’

Ezra nodded slowly, thinking it was very likely.

When looking at it, the title ’Sovereign’ implied that he couldn’t have anyone above him, having subordinates stronger than him went directly against that.

’Then, there’s no one stronger than me in this galaxy?’

Ezra found it very hard to believe. So he posed it to the core.

"Core, am I the strongest being in this galaxy?"

"No. There are two Rank 3 Transcendents, they are the strongest"

"Are they in this universe?"

"Yes"

"That’s not supposed to happen"

Zydrax chimed in. [It’s probably has to do with your ’Galaxy Champion’ Title]

"Hmm..."

Thinking about it, it was very likely that his title of Galaxy Champion had influenced the change.

"It does" the core affirms. "Whilst within this Galaxy, the Title makes it’s so they can’t win against you"

"Although it would be a different case if they fought against you together"

Ezra nods. "I see"

With that question solved, Ezra got to real testing.

But to do that, he’d need at least one subordinate.

’Or do I already have a few?’ Ezra wondered, opening the [Subordinates] function.

{Subordinates}

None

Well, he didn’t.

So Ezra pondered on who to choose as his first subordinate, and someone immediately came to mind.

’Fredrick’ Ezra nodded.

With knowledge of the activation, Ezra knew exactly what he needed to do.

Designating his target, Ezra sent a prompt to Frederick, which arrived in front of the latter almost instantaneously.

Frederick, who was watching over the sleeping Fressia, could only be startled as the prompt obstructed his sight.

{Bind a portion of your soul to the Universe Sovereign for a portion of his power. Do you accept?}

"Huh?" Frederick was naturally skeptical, not to mention annoyed.

It might seem charming if he was a hot-blooded youngster aiming for power, but he is far too old to agree to such things without hesitation.

Moreover, he was already plenty strong.

Just as he was to reply, someone appeared beside him, kicking up a bit of dust.

"Frederick"

His head snapped to the side at that voice.

"Ezra?" he questioned. Perplexed at his presence.

"Accept it" Ezra said

"What?" Frederick was even more confused.

"The floating slate in front of you. Accept it"

"Oh" Frederick realized what Ezra was saying. "This is your doing?"

"Yes" Ezra nodded.

"Is it safe?" Frederick asked lastly.

"Of course, why would I try to harm you?"

"Okay" Frederick replied, and then faced the proposal. "I Accept"

Why didn’t he ask anything more? Because between the two of them, any more questions were meaningless.

"Ha..."

"Oh?"

Frederick felt a wave of power descend into him almost immediately, whilst Ezra felt a boost in his cultivation.

’This is a wonderful ability’ Ezra thought gleefully. Opening the [Subordinates] function once more.

Sure enough.

{Subordinates}

((Mythic rank)) ⸫ 1

It ceased its blank state.

Moreover, the word ((Mythic rank)) was glowing white.

So out of impulse, Ezra tapped it, and sure enough, it opened.

(Mythic rank)

⸪ Salvador Verrar

"Oh" Ezra was once again astonished, smiling all the way.

To think it would show the name. Moreover, it was his real name.

He couldn’t wait to test out the other abilities.
