Chapter 359: Back to Orion

It was Skyfall, gleaming in all its glory.

"It’s good to have you back"

Skyfall pushed feelings of happiness through their soul link, the feeling was mutual.

Practising a few poses, Ezra turned Skyfall into its twin swords form, stopping soon after.

"Son, I took this for myself, what do you think?"

Following that, his mom brings out a double sword of light green colour and a blue hilt in the middle from within her storage ring.

Ezra’s widened. This weapon brought back memories.

This is swiftblade, one of the twenty six armaments of Kaldun and the weapon Ziltris used in the battle that left Ezra at death’s doorstep.

He’d taken the weapon from Ziltris corpse into his space ring.

But from having his core destroyed to being thrown into Arcadia soon after, Ezra had all but forgotten about the weapon entirely.

Thankfully, after idling around for so long, it had made its way to his mother’s hands.

"Feel free to keep it mom, it’s been looking a new owner"

"Very well then, I’ll name it...Sunshine!"

Ezra loves his mom to death, but to call a weapon ’sunshine’, Ezra recoiled at such terrible naming sense.

"Mom" Ezra called. "Its name is Swiftblade"

"Swiftblade? That’s a very bad name. Sunshine is much better"

"Mom" Ezra calls again.

"Son?"

"Why don’t you call it Windchaser instead?"

Contemplating a bit, she agrees. "Fine, Windchaser it is"

Someone else arrives.

"Oh, Ezra my dear, is that you?"

It was Mrs. Elisa, and she was looking much better from the last time they saw one another.

"You don’t seem hurt anywhere. That’s a relief"

"Now then, where have you been?"

"Where are we right now? Are we still in Orion?"

"Were you the cause of all the commotion?"

Curious as always, questions flowed out her mouth incessantly.

Honestly, Ezra had forgotten that she was among those he kept in the space ring.

Apparently even Transcendents still forgot things.

’Mom, Mrs. Elisa, Severus, Skyfall...

Doing a mental roll count, Ezra discovered one person was still missing.

"Where’s Fressia?"

Fressia was the demon worshipper discovered to be Frederick’s sister during the battle against Alvarach.

Ezra had kept her safe by placing her within his space ring.

"Are you talking about the one eyed girl?" Mrs. Elisa replied.

"Yes"

"She left to wander on her own the moment we got out into the open" she explained. "Severus wanted to stop her, but I let her go before they’d start to fight"

"She couldn’t have gotten far then" Ezra remarked, but it had been at least three hours since she left, with the forests surrounding them on all sides, it would take a while to find her.

Ah yes, he sees piles of platinum, gold and silver in the distance, obviously having fallen from within his space ring.

The fact that people hadn’t gathered at the sight of it meant there were none close by.

Which made sense, Ezra figured, finally recognizing where they were.

"We are in Lumeria, an undiscovered continent" he replies Mrs. Elisa.

"An undiscovered continent?" Elisa’s eyes shone. "Then how do you know about it?"

"I’ve come here once before"

That explained the lack of humans, but in their place, it was over flowing with beasts.

Already, they were corpses of three beasts strewn on the ground.

He hadn’t stayed long enough to know if there were any S rank beasts like Severus on the continent, and beyond them, nothing else stood a chance against Fressia.

It hit him. ’I just have to follow the trail of corpses she left behind’

He’d rather not bother, but he’d promised Frederick he’d bring her back safely.

’Wait a minute’ he thought of something. ’Will this work?’

Steadying himself, Ezra’s mind zoomed into Fressia’s image.

"So now, I just-

*Wap!*

He disappeared mid-sentence.

*Wap!*

Only to appear somewhere else right after.

Ezra finds himself under a large canopy of trees, blocking out all sunlight.

"No wait, where is the sunlight even coming from?"

The only thing floating in his universe at this moment was Orion, so where was the sunlight coming from?

Luckily, Zydrax came to his rescue.

[It’s simulated by dimensional essence to keep the planet habitable and the creatures alive]

’I see’ that was enough explanation for him.

Right then, a voice called his attention.

"Who are you?"

Turning around, he finds a woman with a bloodied sword, one of his swords in fact, staring at him with hostility.

With light brown skin, hair neatly split in split in strands of black and white stretching down past her neck, a bad left eye and a demonic aura dense enough to suffocate someone, he’d without a doubt, found who he was looking for.

"Fressia, so this is where you were"

He’d only thought to try, but it seemed that so long he was able to imagine someone’s whereabouts, he could teleport to the person’s location.

From what he understood, he might only be able to do it within his universe and there might still be a few other conditions he didn’t know of just yet, but this ability was plenty awesome.

"I wonder what else I can do now" Ezra wondered out loud.

"Who are you, and how do you know that name?"

Lost in his thoughts, Fressia’s voice brought him back to reality.

After the encounter with her brother, Fressia managed to recover a substantial chunk of her previously lost memories.

So she now knew her brother’s name and remembered his face from when they battled.

That didn’t mean she’d just any random person, especially someone that appeared out of nowhere.

She’d made that mistake many times in the past, she wasn’t about to repeat it.

Having taken a battle stance, Fressia faced Ezra. "I’m not going to ask again"

"Calm down. I’m a friend of your brother, Frederick, he asked me to keep you safe"

"My brother’s name isn’t Frederick!" she shouts, narrowing her eyes, ready to attack at any moment.

"Right, right" Ezra realized his blunder. "It’s Salvador. And he made me promise him to keep you safe. Now, please follow me so I can take you to him"

"Liar" she scowled. "I don’t believe you" Fressia only felt more distrust the longer Ezra spoke.

"Leave" she howled. "I’ll find him on my own"

"See..." Ezra scratched his head. "I can’t do that..."

"Then Die!" She charged without hesitation, sword aimed for Ezra’s neck.

"How feisty" Ezra remarked with a bitter expression, watching her approach with a ’what is this nonsense’ expression.

In his eyes, Fressia was moving in slow motion.

Ezra contemplated how to handle the situation as the sword tip reached his neck.

’Frederick, don’t blame me for this’

Moving to her side, he effortlessly knocks her unconscious with a hand chop to the neck, causing her to slump like spaghetti.

With quick hands, he catches her before she reaches the ground.

"Phew"

Well, maybe not effortlessly.

’I almost broke her neck’

Restricting his power to the level where she didn’t immediately die from one hit took a lot of effort.

In any case, he’d gotten her to cooperate, even if the method was not so...orthodox.

Placing her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, he picks up the sword and walks down the path she’d created.

As expected, the path was filled with monster corpses, she had literally destroyed everything in her path.

Having seen enough, he picks up the pace.

Rushing through the torn forest, Ezra’s mind wanders off to Niton, specifically Kingsmere castle.

’I should go there-

*Wap!*

He disappears.

*Wap!*

Appearing, Ezra slams straight into a wall.

-soon’

Annoyed, Ezra pulls himself from the wall and brushes off the dust with ease.

Stepping back, he looks up. Sure enough, it was as he suspected. Kingsmere’s royal castle, his home, stretched into the horizon beyond the wall.

"I think I understand it works now" Ezra remarked. "It needs clear intent and clear image of the person or thing to activate"

Ezra nodded, his hypothesis made most sense.

Looking at Fressia on his shoulder, it confirmed that he could take more than himself through teleportation.

More than that, he could travel between continents at will.

’If so’ Ezra thought. ’Then...

Closing his eyes, Ezra conjured an image of someone.

With the intent clear, Ezra disappears, reappearing right after someplace else.

Meanwhile, the castle guards that had witnessed the whole thing were speechless.

They opened their jaws, but couldn’t muster out any words to say anything till Ezra left.

Just how were they supposed to explain the destruction brought upon the walls with Ezra having disappeared?

The next moment, Ezra appears elsewhere, out in the open on barren soil.

Instantly, Ezra felt the place to be very familiar.

And upon looking up...

’Oh’

The reason was immediately visible.

The blue barrier Zydrax set up stood gallant far above their heads.

He had arrived right back to where he left.

Ezra was back in Quartez.

No longer had he made the realization that a familiar figure arrived before him.

"Ezra, is that you?" shouting with elation, Frederick sounded like a distant uncle.

Clad in clean leather, Frederick’s face was one of amazement.

Smiling at such an eager welcome, Ezra sighed within.

He was reminded once again that there were, without a doubt, people who cherished him greatly.

"Yes Frederick, it is I, the one and only"

*Pa!|

The strength of their handshake produced waves that would have destroyed the ear drums of a normal person.

Gripping Ezra’s hand, Frederick found it unmovable as it refused to budge even by an inch.

"You’ve grown stronger again" Frederick praised, feeling pure admiration and admittedly, slight envy.

"But, who is that?" Yet he couldn’t restrain his curiosity about the person atop Ezra’s shoulder, and because the hair fell forward, it obscured her face.

"You flatter me" Ezra replied. Remembering why he was here, he softly placed the person in his arms.

Recognizing the figure, Frederick’s eyes quivered.

He was stunned.

"Fressia! What happened?"

"Calm down" Ezra soothed his concerns. "She’s just asleep"

Frederick calms, relieved.

"But when she wakes, she’ll need someone familiar to keep her from running rampant"

"I see" Frederick quickly grasped the situation and Ezra placed Fressia into his arms.

"Is there nothing else?"

"For now, there isn’t" Ezra replied. "Yet I have much to do, so I will be leaving now"

With that, Ezra disappeared.

Reappearing beside his mother in Lumeria, he sought to take them to Quartez, and both quickly agreed.

Mrs. Elisa most especially was worried for Valentine. Who knew what could’ve happened to her child while she was away.

Still, Mrs. Elisa had him promise to bring her here at a later date.

Apparently, there were plenty of beasts on this continent that she had never seen before.

In the few hours she’d spent here, she had already written down an archive of sorts of the beasts she’d encountered and their abilities she was able to glimpse.

Surely, it would be of help to those coming in the future.

With a quick nod, Ezra disappeared and reappeared in Quartez moments after.

"Ah"

"Oh!"

Both women exclaimed, the travel was instantaneous, and most importantly, painless.

They couldn’t help being a little sceptical even though they knew Ezra wouldn’t harm them, but this was beyond their expectations.

Whilst they marvelled at their fast travel, checking their bodies to see whether anything had changed, Ezra looked around.

He’d brought them to Quartez and not Kingsmere for a simple reason, safety.

Though they were Grandmasters, he didn’t know what could happen if he left them alone there, but by staying beside Frederick, his mind would be at much more ease.

Hmm, this was more of his own peace of mind than their safety.

He’d left Severus behind so he could roam and feast as he liked across Lumeria.

Then, he started to feel a small sting on his body, to which he frowned.

[You need to head back out, an hour has passed]

Ezra was perplexed for a few seconds, before nodding.

As of the time he’d woken up from his slumber, less than an hour remained for the core to complete the task.

So, as per the plan, all the planetary bodies should be connected by now.

It was time to proceed to the final part of Zydrax’s daring plan.

With a nod, Ezra willed a portal open, and so it did.

Almost as if devouring the space before it, a portal big enough for Ezra to pass manifested itself.

Looking back at his Mother and Mrs. Elisa staring at him in surprise, he said, "I have a few things to take care off, I’ll be back in a short while"

"Then I’ll have to follow along, I can’t let my son go to dangerous places all by himself"

Ezra smiled but shook his head, "That’s not possible Mother, you need to be a Transcendent to go there"

Looking into her son’s loving eyes, Kiara sighed in dismay, handing him words of encouragement as the least she could do.

"Be careful"

"Always" Ezra nodded. Crossing into the portal right after.

As the portal closed, Kiara clenched her fist, muttering.

"Even with all this power, I can’t help my son"

Here it was again.

When did it start? Was it when Ezra was taken to Arcadia? This feeling of uselessness began to squeeze her heart.

A parent’s duty was to ease the burdens of their child, yet what was she doing?

She felt she was becoming more and more of a burden to her son-even if it wasn’t so-she still felt that way.

And she hated it.

Whilst in her dark thoughts, a hand slumped on her shoulder.

It was Elisa. Looking her straight in the eye.

"Don’t do that" she said. "We simply need to get stronger"

"Right" grinding her teeth, Kiara nodded. "Let’s do that"

She really hated feeling like this.

Meanwhile on Ezra’s end...

[Shall we begin?]

A grand event was taking place.
