Chapter 422: Time to Introduce Myself!

The base of the Red Dragon clan lay suspended in space.

It was a floating citadel the size of a city.

Crimson red was the main color of the entire city, demonstrating uniformity as the buildings looked the same.

The city hosted several crimson towers which had Dragons sketched on them in gold.

Alas, while built in the form of a tower, Ezra approximated each one to be of the same height as Black Sky, but only about three-quarters of the width

Weapons were lined across the edge of the floating city, with glowing orbs on top of them signaling their active state.

Beyond that, thanks to slight fluctuations, Ezra could make out a transparent barrier that encompassed the city like a dome.

Taking in such sights as he approached, Ezra nodded.

’It’s better than I expected’

He had subconsciously looked down on the sect because of their talent in recent years, imagining that their clan base would be a sore sight.

But this wasn’t too bad.

*Alert!*

On the other side, warnings rang out in the room designated to scout and report any approaching unidentified object.

The officers in charge were first startled but quickly got back in rhythm, sending a message to Ezra.

Amongst the weapons lay a machine that amplified one’s voice.

"This is a message from the Red Dragon. Identify yourself and state your purpose ese we will be forced to open fire!"

Amplifying his voice as well, Ezra spoke...

"I have come at the request of the clan leader"

A period of tense silence followed, in which someone exited the city, floating in space as he approached Ezra.

Garbed in a red and white robe, the man sported a horn at the side of his head.

His body was fairly slender, covered in red scales giving him a scholarly vibe.

But his gaze was anything but friendly.

Upon meeting Ezra, his mouth curved inversely into a frown, narrowing his eyes.

"So it’s you"

"Of course"

Ezra answered without a change in expression.

Having gained information about the Nascents in the Red Dragon clan, Ezra recognised the fellow in front of him.

He was an elder of the Red Dragon clan, Paqal...something...Ezra had forgotten his last name.

Likewise, all the elders of the Red Dragon clan also recognised Ezra, being the newest elder of their clan and the peculiarity surrounding his entry.

As one would expect, none of them had good opinions about him.

"How unexpected" Paqal chided with a mocking gaze.

"I thought you would stay in hiding for much longer, yet, here you are. How surprising"

"Do all the Elders talk this much?" he questioned, staring Paqal straight in the eyes.

At this, Paqal’s expression froze as he let off a breath, glaring at Ezra intensely.

Placing his arms on Ezra’s shoulder, Paqal began to press down on it while muttering in his ear.

"Hoo...you’ve got guts, huh? I would like to put you in your place right away, but you’re still an Elder...for now. Let’s see how long you can keep up the act"

With that, Paqal let off the pressure, leaving Ezra to head back into the headquarters.

Watching him babble off like a broken record, Ezra simply stared with a funny expression, unbothered.

Thanks to Ezra hiding his cultivation with <Universal Concealment>, Paqal hadn’t sensed his energy levels.

Paqal cleared Ezra for entry and had him follow behind.

Now inside, Ezra got a much better view on the structure of the Red Dragon clan.

Rank two and rank three Transcendents were all over the place, going and coming from every direction in different attires.

Seeing all this, Ezra acknowledged them with nods, not making a single exclamation the entire time.

"Let’s pick up the pace" said Paqal as he immediately took to the sky.

They then flew to the clan leader’s residence located at the other end of the city.

Getting there, Ezra was greeted with a medium sized estate holding a good number of houses.

Here, he could sense a good number of rank four and rank five Transcendents.

He was then led to a large and wide pavilion with its sides painted not red, but light blue.

Entering, he was led upstairs, where he found the clan leader seated on a mat, meditating.

"You’re here. Take a seat" said the clan leader without opening his eyes.

"I shall excuse myself" said Paqal.

With that, Ezra and the clan leader sat in silence for a few seconds.

"Do you know what’s going to happen now?" said the clan leader, opening his eyes.

"Let me guess, you will announce me as the eleventh Elder and afterwards resolve matters with the other elders" Ezra responded.

"Close. I will have you demonstrate your power by sparring with an Elder in front of the clan and assert yourself. I’ll handle the rest" the clan leader responded.

"Nothing much, but I came here for something else"

The clan leader looked at him skeptically.

"What is it?"

"Recommend me to the main branch"

The clan leader’s eyes widened at the statement, but Ezra continued.

"The facilities here are far below standard, but since we’ve worked so well until now, I would rather not join another clan"

"Hmm" the clan leader muttered, contemplating, then let off a breath, nodding.

"Alright. I’ll recommend you for the main branch. With your talent, it shouldn’t be hard to pass"

Honestly, the clan leader had also been wondering what Ezra’s real goal was.

Suspicion was only natural considering the depth of Ezra’s talent.

He had killed an Astral Beast at rank three, broke through to Nascent realm just a year later, and also possessed potent spatial abilities.

Considering Ezra’s personality, it was clear that he wasn’t one to stick to unfavorable conditions.

And while the clan leader would rather not admit it, he knew his clan didn’t have anything of enough worth to entice such a prodigy.

Now, with Ezra’s intentions laid out, the clan leader could ease his suspicion.

While it was a little stifling to have to send such a genius elsewhere, he would still be affiliated with the Red Dragon clan.

This would immensely benefit the clan.

Through him, the clan would be earning resources from the main branch.

This was the best outcome he could hope for.

Asadan was satisfied. freēnovelkiss.com

But before that, he still had to initiate Ezra into the clan.

"When would you like to hold your introduction?"

Asadan was not one to waste time.

Blinking, Ezra responded...

"Now"

"Now?"

"Yes. Or is there any reason to delay?"

Asadan chuckles.

"Not all the Elders are present"

"Then I will hold it once they are"

Asadin nodded in agreement, smiling.

He then called a servant for Ezra and had him escorted to a temporary residence.

Hours later, Ezra lay standing atop a marble podium in front of an expansive crowd of Red Dragon clansmen, murmuring endlessly as they tried to understand the situation.

The elders on the other hand were seated beside one another, looking at him with all sorts of scrutinizing gazes such as indifference, curiosity, displeasure, ridicule, and hatred

Without further ado, Asadan commenced the introduction ceremony.

"Let us begin the introduction ceremony of the eleventh elder!"

The introduction of an Elder was a rather simple event, one simply had to demonstrate their power and prove themselves worthy of the position.

Likewise, one could also be challenged by anyone who deemed you unworthy, but killing was forbidden.

Usually, nothing exciting happened at these ceremonies since the elders would have already proven their power beforehand, but in the case of Ezra, whom very few knew of, he would have to prove his power here.

As soon as Asadan commenced the ceremony, a few rank five and rank six Transcendents challenged him.

Beyond the outraged elders, these Transcendents didn’t come at him with bad intentions.

Sparring with a Nascent as a Transcendent was a valuable experience, so most of those who came to challenge him were doing it with pure intentions.

Arranged in descending order, the first rank five got on the podium.

He clapped his hands together and bowed.

"Wait"

Or was about to before Ezra interrupted him.

"All rank fives should come onto the podium"

Murmurs erupted, but no one felt it strange as a Nascent should be able to handle rank fives with ease.

While the rank fives arranged themselves on the marble podium, Ezra was formulating his next course of action in his head.

His goal had been to stay hidden till he acquired power, and by becoming a Nascent, he had done that.

To go higher, he was going to need a lot of resources, both in terms of techniques and herbs, which Zydrax couldn’t provide, hence his aim to enter the clan of the main branch.

Inadvertently, this meant he could no longer hide himself.

To get into the main branch clan, he would have to step into the light and prove his worth.

This inevitably meant he would have to prove his abilities over those of his competitors to get ahead.

It also meant that he would have to build himself a reputation, and this introduction ceremony was the first step to doing that.

In short, it was time for Ezra to introduce himself to the world, no, to the universe, and establish the starting block of his reputation.

Introductions were first impressions, and first impressions went a long way.

With the options set in front of him, Ezra aimed to not give a good first impression, but a stellar one!

At this moment, the rank fives had finished setting up their formation.

Ezra let off a smile, feeling excited.

The stage was set.

It was time for his stellar performance!
