Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 71: Streets Of Amadon [4]
The feeling in my arm starts to get a bit intense as we get closer to the aura radiating from ahead. It isn’t painful, but it feels uncomfortable.
Wriggle. Wriggle.
Looking down at my arm I can see the black veins showing a lot more than usual.
After a few moments I find myself grabbing onto my arm, the sensation is getting worse and worse by the second. I can’t stop... Amelia and Airi are still walking.
Grip!!
I push forward while holding onto my arm, hoping that maybe it’ll go away.
Ba-dum. Ba-dum. Ba-dum.
Gasp.
My legs give out as the feeling moves into my chest, like something is moving throughout my body. This feeling is almost like the time she healed my wounds, except it is quite intense.
Thud!
I don’t know what is happening right now... but I need you to calm down celeste. This feeling is becoming quite unbearable in more ways than I can handle.
"I can’t help it... It is coming from the being ahead," Celeste says with pain in her voice.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard you in pain like this before, this is definitely not a good sign.
Just give me a bit longer, I’ll figure it out in no time. Airi will also be able to help with whatever is awaiting us ahead, so just hang in there.
For my sake as well.
Before they can look back at me I use my sword to stand up. The feeling is starting to feel suffocating as my body struggles to push back against it.
It feels as if Celeste is trying to take over my whole body right now.
If you can’t calm yourself down soon... I’ll have to jam this sword into my chest to keep you from taking over.
"Liam are you okay?" Airi asks while staring at me.
I didn’t even realize that she stopped.
"Yes, I’m fine," I answer while gripping the sword tighter.
"You don’t look fine," Airi says with worry in her voice.
"Just feeling some pressure from whatever is ahead," I reply while trying to ignore the feeling.
RUMBLE!!!!
The ground begins to shake around us again.
"I think we are almost there, just hang in there Liam," Airi pleas.
"It’ll be fine," I reply as I continue to walk.
Airi continues to lead the way as something begins to appear in the distance, it is a little hard to see at first; a giant circular like spot is ahead of us.
It seems to be the source of the pressure that is radiating throughout the area.
THUD!
The sound of a large thud is all I hear from behind me.
"I think it is some sort of pit," Zeno speaks up with a serious tone. "I’ll do some sort of temporary suppression so we can figure out a plan."
After saying that I watch Zeno run past everyone with his rifle out still.
BANG!!! BANG!!!!!
Two shots go off towards the pit and as they hit, two small pillars form on separate sides of the pit. Not long after, a small barrier of white light forms around the pit.
The pressure starts to die down after it goes into affect, giving me a bit of relief from celeste.
Slowly the feeling starts to fade away from the rest of my body as Zeno stands in front of me now. A serious look is all I notice on his face as he stares at me.
"Are you sure you can handle going down there if we do?" Zeno asks. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"I can handle it," I answer confidently.
He looks towards Airi and Amelia.
"They seem to have faith in you, so I will too Liam," Zeno says with the serious expression fading from his face.
"Thanks," I reply quietly.
He turns back completely and makes his way ahead of the girls. His attention seems to be more on the pit since it has this pressure radiating from it.
That same pressure is something that is causing celeste to freak out more than she ever did before. I don’t really understand why it is having such an effect on her, but I want to figure it out.
Risks like this are something I need to avoid at all costs, especially if a fight comes to us. I don’t want to put any of their lives at risk while fighting back Celeste.
"I’ll try to avoid pushing all that on you again... I’m sorry," Celeste says genuinely.
It is what it is. I don’t think you could control it entirely so I’m not going to get too upset right now. I’ll just have to have faith in you... That you won’t try to take over again.
"Something about that pressure is causing reactions in me that I didn’t know existed," Celeste responds with a bit of fear in her voice.
Then it’ll be even more satisfying when I kill whatever it is.
"Liam are you feeling any better after what Zeno did?" Airi asks with a worried expression on her face.
"Definitely better than it was," I answer without hesitation.
"Then we can setup a camp for the time being," Airi says with relief in her voice.
Setting up a camp her isn’t a bad idea since none of us have really slept yet, at least not me and Amelia. I don’t know about Zeno or Airi, but this is probably the best opportunity we will get.
With that last thought I help get the camp set-up for the night, making use of what I can find around us. Zeno and Airi easily got some tents put up, something I’ll never understand.
But I don’t let it stop me from getting a small fire going.
Crackle! Crackle!!
It is nice to hear my efforts paying off after everything I’ve gone through today.
The fire is enough to give us a way to see what’s close to us, not that there is anything else out here. Most of the remaining buildings near the pit are destroyed in some way.
"Let’s get some rest before considering how to go about this," Airi suggests.
