Chapter 429: Chapter 427: Reunion (Part 5)

"Quick, Wei Yang, get Fangfang and Xiao He in the car!" Wei Dazhuang didn’t need to remind him; as soon as the engine started, Wei Yang had already lifted Fangfang into the car and pulled He Jing along closely behind.

The car was filled with corpses, a horrific sight that would undoubtedly be a shocking visual for a young child like Fangfang.

But Fangfang was obedient, understanding that the uncles and aunties were busy. Despite her overwhelming fear, she forced herself to maintain a composed expression.

Seeing his teammates already in the car, Wei Dazhuang raised his eyebrow and glanced at the rearview mirror. The two companions left behind were now completely surrounded by zombies, making it unlikely for them to break free on their own.

So... despite it being his first time driving a bus, Wei Dazhuang had no choice but to go for it.

Following the method of driving ordinary cars, Wei Dazhuang managed to start the bus smoothly. However, due to the bus’s length, handling direction was not that easy.

Thankfully, in the apocalypse, there was no need to worry about laws and regulations. For obstacles that couldn’t be circumvented, Wei Dazhuang simply crashed through them.

Meanwhile, Lin Junfu and Hu Xiaodong were in increasingly precarious situations.

Initially, they could rely on the car to maneuver with the zombies, but over time, the lack of personnel and primitive weapons exposed Hu Lin’s disadvantage.

Lin Junfu once again jabbed a sharp tool into a beast trying to crawl into the car. Since he only had a short cutting tool, he had to first restrain the enemy’s body each time and then dispatch the beast by stabbing it.

This slow offensive method repeatedly put him in danger.

If not for Hu Xiaodong’s swift reactions to rescue him, old Lin would have already become a pile of rotting flesh.

But there’s no doubt that despite their strenuous cooperation, the worsening situation showed little hope for a turnaround.

Death was gradually approaching, life hanging by a thread, but at that moment, a rough roar erupted from in front.

"Wham! Bam! Screech~ Puff~" After a series of impacts and struggles, Wei Dazhuang finally managed to park the bus stably beside the vehicle where Lin and Hu were seated.

As soon as the car stopped, Acheng leaned against the middle door and shouted, "Brother Hu, Uncle Lin, get in the car, hurry!"

Even though he said that, actually achieving it was no easy task.

Remember, there was still a wall of corpses between them. For Lin Junfu and Hu Xiaodong to get in the bus, they had to break through that wall, which under their current condition, was nothing short of dreaming.

Besides that, the more pressing concern was that Acheng’s shouting and the bus’s arrogant roar had immediately attracted the displeasure of the surrounding zombies. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

These creatures, already impatient from being stuck outside the circle, saw new "treats" arriving, and of course, they ’welcomed their guests.’

Almost instantly, the zombies that were attacking Lin and Hu turned their attention to the bus.

Hands slammed against the bus’s body as cold, corpse-like claws scratched incessantly, producing a "squeak" sound that was chilling to hear.

Wei Yang held Fangfang tightly in his arms, the little child’s trembling frame shaking like a sieve uncontrollably.

He Jing remained indifferent, sitting on the bench, seemingly unrelated to the events in front of her.

Acheng, however, was uncharacteristically standing alone by the bus door, using the slightly open door slit to laboriously stab the outside beasts.

He understood that if the beasts breached this defense, everything would be over.

Seeing the bus in danger behind him, Lin Junfu was truly anxious. He wanted desperately to help his brothers, but unable to protect himself, he couldn’t possibly rescue them.

"Uncle Dazhuang! This isn’t working! I can barely hold it together!"

Despite doing his utmost, Acheng found his back painfully sore from holding the door, his surging blood ready to spill from his throat.

Wei Dazhuang saw it all, noting that not only the rear door but even the tightly closed front door was showing signs of opening.

What to do? Wei Dazhuang’s forehead furrowed into knots.

If they left now, Wei Dazhuang and the others on the bus would undoubtedly be rescued.

But evidently, Wei Dazhuang couldn’t abandon his comrades. He glanced around, seemed to make a decision, reached for the side seatbelt, and shouted, "Everyone, hold on tight, old man is going to kill these damned beasts!"

With that, Wei Dazhuang immediately floored the accelerator, as the bus surged forward, turning the zombies clawing in excitement into roadkill.

Wei Dazhuang was unaffected by this; his eyes were bloodshot, slaughtering had long since become second nature to him.

After driving a sufficient distance, Wei Dazhuang swerved, then held the bus’s rear from the front and backed away.

No need for any technique, Wei Dazhuang’s only task was to hold the accelerator, aim for the beasts, and charge full speed.

seconds later, a string of "bang, pop, crash, thud" erupted, lively as a market.

The bus’s massive force tore an alarming scar on the parked car, the screeching sound unbearably piercing, instinctively making people cover their ears.

Nonetheless, Wei Dazhuang managed to park the bus beside the car.

The wall of corpses collapsed, but a new problem arose. Being so closely parked to the car, the front and rear doors were entirely blocked, leaving the windows as the only way to enter.

But at this critical juncture, with so many zombies blocking the way, would you dare expose your back to the beasts?

The answer is obviously no!

However, Hu Xiaodong, athletic by nature, quickly thought of an escape shortcut.

And his idea was...

"Old Lin! Go this way! Let’s get on the roof!"

Hu Xiaodong’s plan was undeniably reckless, but it was also the most reliable option at the moment.

Upon hearing this, Lin Junfu didn’t hesitate, quickly dispatching a beast next to him, and then climbed onto the car beside him, using it to reach the bus’s roof.

Hu Xiaodong followed suit, though his right leg hadn’t completely healed, the continuous training over past weeks had given him the strength to complete the climb.

Once the two reached the roof, Lin Junfu immediately pounded the bus roof, "Retreat! Dazhuang! Quickly retreat!"

With things reaching this stage, Wei Dazhuang had no reason to linger any longer. He sat upright, then pushed the gear lever forward forcefully. Thus began their escape... (To be continued.
