Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 495 - 488: Old Fox (Part 1)
The battle outside the factory continued, with the remaining zombies starting to approach the survivors standing outside the vehicle.
For people like Hu Xiaodong and Wei Dazhuang, who had seen big battles before, this horde of zombies was nothing significant.
However, for Liu Yunpeng and Li Huiru, it was enough to scare the wits out of them.
As a result, Liu Yunpeng continuously shouted loudly to urge the people inside the factory: "Hey! What are you all doing in there? Hurry up and open the door and let me in! Dad! Where are you? Tell them to open the door!"
Tang Xiaoquan watched all of this indifferently. He knew that opening the door was by no means an easy task, but considering that the number of zombies around was not too many at the moment, they were still able to manage.
Moreover, Liu Yunpeng was inside the vehicle, so his safety was not a concern for the time being.
On the contrary, Liu Fugui’s attitude puzzled Tang Xiaoquan. It was known that this great father had expressed deep care and concern for his son in past radio communications.
But now, his son was right outside the factory and in danger, yet he had not arranged for anyone to come to the rescue, and even his silhouette was nowhere to be seen.
This inevitably raised a big question mark in Tang Xiaoquan’s mind about Liu Fugui’s character.
Just when Tang Xiaoquan was so bewildered, a voice came again from the factory wall: "Alright! Alright! Young master, come over here!"
So that’s how it was! Following the direction of the voice, Tang Xiaoquan saw a wooden ladder being lowered from the wall.
Immediately, he waved his hand towards Liu Yunpeng, who was still huddled anxiously inside the car, signaling him to get out and climb the ladder.
Regarding this, Liu Yunpeng hesitated somewhat because the occasional corpse howls from outside the car terrified him.
Finally, seeing Liu Yunpeng not moving for a long time, Xu Renjie couldn’t take it anymore. He propped up his hunting crossbow with one hand, walked three steps to the city management vehicle, then opened the car door with a somber order: "If you don’t want to die, get out quickly!"
It was as if he had found his backbone. This time, Liu Yunpeng did not show discontent and obediently followed Xu Renjie’s instructions to get out of the car, then quickly followed behind him to the wooden ladder lowered at the wall.
"Old Xu, you go up first! Test the wooden ladder to prevent it from collapsing and injuring Liu Yunpeng!"
Tang Xiaoquan raised his hand to block Liu Yunpeng, who was about to climb the ladder. The latter was momentarily stunned, but after hearing Tang Xiaoquan’s entire sentence, he immediately dismissed any thought of refuting.
The reason was none other than considering his own life above all, Liu Yunpeng needed Xu Renjie to test the stability of the wooden ladder for him.
Xu Renjie was also momentarily confused, clearly not understanding the young man’s intention.
But seeing a subtle and somewhat odd wink from the other party, Xu Renjie did not say a word, immediately lifted his leg and stepped onto the ladder.
So what exactly did Tang Xiaoquan want to do? Was he really worried about Liu Yunpeng’s safety?
The answer was clearly no! With Tang Xiaoquan’s pragmatic personality, he wouldn’t care about the life or death of an outsider.
His purpose in doing so was mainly twofold:
Firstly, it was to show the people inside the factory that their group took meticulous care of Liu Yunpeng. Tang Xiaoquan hoped to use this to gain leverage for future negotiations for resources.
Secondly, it was out of caution, given Liu Fugui’s absence, which left Tang Xiaoquan feeling a bit uneasy.
He didn’t want their efforts to lead to the possibility of being cut loose later on.
Therefore, having Old Xu go in, at least he could use his Type 92 pistol and the crossbow on his back to assert control over the situation and ensure the other side can’t pull back the ladder.
After Old Xu climbed the wall, he immediately signaled for Liu Yunpeng to move, while Hu Xiaodong and Wei Dazhuang, who were on guard duty, gradually tightened the defensive circle.
Finally, leading Li Huiru, they entered the factory one after another.
"What were you all good for! Don’t you know there are zombies outside! And you still made me climb a wooden ladder! What’s the meaning of this! Why didn’t you open the door!"
Pouting his face and putting his hands on his hips, Liu Yunpeng, now inside the wall, changed from his previous timid demeanor and angrily shouted at the few raggedly dressed workers in front of him.
Xu Renjie was going to stop him with a rebuke on his lips when suddenly a hand from behind subtly pulled on his collar, along with a low voice from behind: "Old Xu, let’s wait and see!"
The speaker, of course, was Tang Xiaoquan. Although he also disliked Liu Yunpeng’s "riding on coattails" behavior, from the perspective of the overall situation, it wasn’t suitable for them to make a move here.
Old Xu wasn’t a rash person, so he understood the young man’s meaning, choosing to step back, watching Liu Yunpeng’s wild antics.
"Young Master!" Suddenly, a hoarse voice came from the crowd.
Tang Xiaoquan looked around and saw a lean man approaching from a distance.
The man was about 27-28 years old, of medium build, and had a carved face adorned with a small mustache that gave him some character.
The man with a mustache walked unhurriedly toward Liu Yunpeng’s location, saying as he walked: "Young Master! Please forgive us! We did this out of helplessness. As you may have seen before, the situation of the factory; if I recklessly open the door, it would take too long and be too risky, so we could only rescue you using a wooden ladder."
"Nonsense! I think you just wanted to get me killed!" Liu Yunpeng completely ignored the explanation of the man with the mustache, maintaining a demeanor that suggested he wouldn’t stop until he had made a shocking statement.
Yet the man with the mustache was very well-mannered. He didn’t mind Liu Yunpeng’s reckless words. Instead, he respectfully bowed and apologized solemnly: "Young Master, your criticism is justified. It was my fault, Huang Yong, for not getting the job done well. I hope Young Master will be lenient."
After saying that, Huang Yong slowly straightened up, smiling calmly: "Young Master, Mr. Liu is waiting for you upstairs. Would you like to go up first?"
Perhaps the humble attitude of the man made Liu Yunpeng very "satisfied", he stopped his "unreasonable" scolding, snorted coldly, and under the guidance of a guard, stepped inside the factory area.
Seeing Liu Yunpeng leaving, Li Huiru hurried to catch up. However, as she passed by Huang Yong, a large hand stopped her: "What are you doing?"
"I’m... I’m looking for my husband!" Li Huiru rolled her eyes. Holding Liu Yunpeng as her protective talisman, although she was somewhat intimidated by the man in front of her, she still had some confidence in her heart.
In response, Huang Yong swept a cold glance at the woman in front of him. He knew this woman was undoubtedly another new girlfriend of the Young Master.
So to avoid trouble for himself, he didn’t say much, lowered his arm, made a ’hurry along’ gesture, and relapsed into silence.
Seeing this, Wang Qiang and the others naturally didn’t want to fall behind, and hurried after Li Huiru.
However, they hadn’t traveled 2 meters before Huang Yong’s stern shout suddenly rang out: "Where are you all going!!" (To be continued.
