Chapter 496: Chapter 489: Old Fox (Part 2)

"Follow them! Go into the factory!" Wang Qiang responded quickly, as expected.

However, what he didn’t expect was that as soon as he finished speaking, Huang Yong sneered coldly, "Heh, who told you that you can go in now?"

The icy words left Wang Qiang momentarily speechless, but soon he widened his eyes, angrily shouting, "Nonsense! It was your boss Liu who..."

Before Wang Qiang could finish his sentence, Tang Xiaoquan stepped out, intervening before his brother could say more, "Mr. Huang, I’m sorry, this is our first time here, and we don’t understand some of the rules. Could you please tell us what we should do next?"

"Quan, you..."

Lifting a hand in a "shut up" gesture, Tang Xiaoquan smiled broadly at Huang Yong in front of him.

"Roll up your sleeves and collars, I need to check!" Huang Yong’s deep voice carried no emotion, offering no friendliness despite Tang Xiaoquan’s goodwill.

This left Wang Qiang fuming, but due to his brother’s "advice," he could only comply angrily.

However, Huang Yong didn’t deliberately make things difficult for the survivors. After confirming that they had no visible bite marks or scratches, he passed them through the so-called "inspection."

Then, he pointed to the iron barrels on the ground, indicating to everyone, "Now please throw all your weapons into them!"

"What! You’re going too far!" If the previous ’inspection’ was tolerable, this "disarmament" was something Wang Qiang could not accept under any circumstances.

Not only him, even Hu Xiaodong showed signs of refusal.

To this, Tang Xiaoquan spoke again, "Mr. Huang, I think you should know that we are here on Liu’s invitation to escort his son. We’ve relied on these weapons for protection all the way here. Now you’re asking us to surrender our weapons; it’s not appropriate in any sense!"

Tang Xiaoquan’s intention was clear: to use Liu Fugui’s name to intimidate them.

But who would have thought that Huang Yong didn’t care at all, simply stating, "These are Mr. Liu’s rules, and everyone must follow them! As for your weapons, we’ll return them in full when you leave."

After saying that, Huang Yong shut his mouth once more, but his sharp eyes warned the survivors not to attempt to bypass this order.

Helpless, the survivors, led by Xu Renjie, had no choice but to hand over their weapons in turn.

Additionally, Huang Yong cautiously ordered a body check to ensure none of them hid any weapons.

However, Xu Renjie, who had prepared in advance, still managed to sneak the 92-style handgun hidden in his high-top boots past the search.

This gave him some confidence for the upcoming journey, ensuring that in the event of an emergency, they wouldn’t be completely defenseless, unable to fight back.

"All right! Everyone! You can follow me now!" After confirming the disarmament was complete, Huang Yong finally gave the clearance and led the survivors ahead.

To say the least, Liu Fugui’s factory was indeed "impressive."

The south side of the factory featured a row of modern warehouses, each clearly numbered in red paint above.

Tang Xiaoquan glanced briefly and counted 15 warehouses. As for what was stored inside, there’s no need to ask. It’s surely boxes of various food supplies.

It’s no wonder Liu Fugui remained so confident despite being besieged by zombies for so long; truly, having grain in hand eases the mind!

A large carport was situated at the southwest corner of the warehouse. The once green rain canopy was now dilapidated, with whole sections of the roof missing, looking very out of place from a distance.

The area originally designated for parking bicycles and electric scooters now housed survivors lying around in small groups, most of them looking weary, hinting that their daily meals were not great.

Further ahead was a two-story dormitory building, with several half-open windows from which curious faces peered down at them.

As for the central part of the factory, there was a large plant with the words "Factory Restricted Area, Unauthorized Personnel Keep Out" on the top, indicating that it was probably the food processing station.

Avoiding the empty stares of the people under the carport, the survivors, under Huang Yong’s lead, arrived in front of the office building east of the warehouse.

This was the building that Old Xu and his group had observed with binoculars earlier. The silver-gray brick walls looked solid and reliable under the sunlight. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Two stone lions lay prostrate on either side of the front door, like two guardian deities, their bell-sized eyes watching everyone who passed by, exuding an unspeakable aura of power and authority.

As they entered the office building, they were met with a 360-degree semicircular reception desk, behind which was a small reception room, its all-glass design making it particularly transparent.

Due to the power outage, the elevators, which were frequently used in modern cities, were now just piles of useless scrap metal on display.

With the elevators unusable, Huang Yong led Xu Renjie and the others through the reception room into the stairwell.

After climbing three floors and pushing open an exquisite wooden door, Huang Yong gestured inside, signaling everyone to enter:

"You can rest in the VIP room for a while; Mr. Liu will make arrangements later." With that, he shut the wooden door and left.

The so-called VIP room was actually a large meeting room with a round conference table in the center, surrounded by a ring of chairs.

It felt like a round table meeting, causing Tang Xiaoquan to wonder if Liu Fugui was somehow a fan of King Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table.

Despite everything, Wang Qiangqiang rushed to the front of the conference table, pulled out the head chair, and plopped down, then pretended to lecture, "Alright, everyone sit down, let’s talk about how we feel about entering the factory!"

Ignoring Wang Qiang’s antics, Tang Xiaoquan casually found a seat and sat down, then said seriously, "Did anyone notice the survivors under the bike shelter?"

"Noticed them. It seems the distribution system here is very unequal! Obviously, the dormitory could accommodate these people, but..." Hu Xiaodong immediately replied.

"Yeah! Even a fool can see that!" Wang Qiang quickly added, "They obviously didn’t plan to care about those people outside! In my opinion, this Liu Fugui is just a second-generation Scarface!"

Upon hearing "Scarface," Xu Renjie’s face immediately tensed up.

To him, those words were a red flag. He had vowed never to let history repeat itself, so he quickly stated his position:

"When we meet Liu Fugui later, let’s focus on securing the supplies, and as for anything else, we’ll figure it out after we leave!" (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it on Qidian (qidian.com). Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read on m.qidian.com.)
