Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 157: The Boss’s Perceptive Eyes
Su Yijia cooked a large bowl of noodles and prepared two poached eggs. She hadn’t eaten since she left in the morning, so she quickly wolfed down the meal, not bothering to take her time.
Watching her, the people around felt a pang of concern.
"Slow down, don’t choke. If it’s not enough, I’ll get you another bowl," Grandma Lin said as she handed her a cup of wheat milk, but Su Yijia waved her hand, lifted the bowl, and drank a mouthful of the broth.
"Alright, I’m full. I’ll go and massage Kaize’s acupoints and then sleep early," she said, wiping her mouth with a handkerchief.
Gao Huabin instantly straightened his back proudly. "Sister-in-law, I already massaged the leader today."
Su Yijia was momentarily taken aback, feeling a tinge of disappointment, but quickly shrugged it off. "No worries. I’ll wash Kaize then."
"I’ve already helped the boss bathe," Gao Huabin grinned broadly.
Su Yijia’s face stiffened as she cast a deep look at him and then shifted her gaze to Qin Kaize. Though she said nothing, her eyes expressed her displeasure that Qin Kaize allowed someone else to bathe him.
"I won’t let him do that again," Qin Kaize felt oddly anxious and hurried to explain, not sure why he felt guilty under her gaze.
So, you were planning to let him bath you next time? Su Yijia raised an eyebrow and asked with an irrational complaint.
While she understood the logic behind it, she had worked hard all day and was eagerly anticipating coming back to bathe together, play around, and take some advantage of the situation for her own comfort. It was quite disheartening when Gao Huabin took that rare opportunity.
"Alright, hurry and take a shower, then rest early," Grandma Lin urged her granddaughter, humorously indicating that if she wanted to cozy up, she should do it in the privacy of her room. Su Yijia blushed slightly, conceding to keep her complaints to herself and retreated to her room to fetch her change of clothes for a shower.
"Sigh, we’re getting old and can’t stay up late. We’ll go to rest first," Grandpa and Grandma Lin waved their hands and also retired to their rooms. The once lively courtyard suddenly fell into a quiet state. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Gao Huabin looked at Xia Weiguo with an innocent expression. "Leader, did I say something wrong just now?"
Although no one said anything, he sensed that something was amiss. Xia Weiguo, his face heavy with suppressed anger, was almost getting a heart attack.
"You didn’t do anything wrong... I did! I shouldn’t have transferred you here. With someone acting as quick as you, how can Ze and Yijia develop their relationship?" Xia Weiguo confessed in frustration.
Feeling even more innocent, Gao Huabin replied, "I’m not that quick, am I? Besides, the boss knows better. His eyes are especially perceptive, always managing to amuse sister-in-law with a single glance. Moreover, Leader, didn’t you notice that sister-in-law and boss have a much better relationship now compared to when you came back last time? I’m sure she really likes boss."
"Shut your mouth!" Xia Weiguo was close to boiling over.
He glared at Gao Huabin for a while, and, in no mood to speak more, turned around and went back his own room.
Staring at Xia Weiguo’s departing figure, Gao Huabin suddenly felt uncertain if he had truly done something wrong. Maybe he shouldn’t give massages to the boss anymore, or help him with anything? Resolving to make changes in his approach, he took Qin Kaize back to his room, albeit with reservations.
Qin Kaize wanted to stop him, but from Gao Huabin’s perspective, the flitting of Qin Kaize’s eyelids was unseen. Once Gao Huabin had pushed Qin Kaize into his room, intending to set him on the bed, he was startled by the ominous depths in Kaize’s eyes and the cold indifference emanating from him.
"Push me back," Kaize blinked forcefully.
Misunderstanding his gestures, Gao Huabin quickly brought out a notebook. Kaize blinked again, and only then did Gao Huabin got the meaning and pushed Kaize back outside the room. Kaize expressed his displeasure with Gao Huabin’s assistance.
When Su Yijia finished her shower and emerged, she was captivated by the figure shrouded in moonlight. She used to like those younger, fresher looking guys. They were innocent, cute, and full of sunshine, calling her ’elder sister.’ Their soft, innocent appearance made them seem bite-worthy.
Someone like Qin Kaize, whose countenance shifted from unfriendly to sinister whenever he didn’t smile, didn’t seem amiable. Even getting closer to him felt risky, fearing he might bite. He didn’t fit the current trend of delicate and appealing young men. However, spending time with him unveiled an alluring charm.
Especially when his eyes, which usually seemed icy to anyone else, turned gentle and intense when focused on oneself. It stirred up a boiling sensation in the blood, even without doing anything.
"Why did they leave you alone here?" Su Yijia approached Qin Kaize, her eyes soft and direct, gazing at him.
"Is it not good to leave me for you?" Qin Kaize playfully asked.
However, Su Yijia grimaced slightly, "Gao Huabin has already done what I wanted to do, so I can only cuddle you to sleep."
"Besides cuddling to sleep, what else do you want to do?" Qin Kaize raised an eyebrow, seemingly curious about what’s going on in her mind.
"I want to do a lot, but unfortunately, you can’t cooperate." Su Yijia’s gaze playfully scanned the man, ending at one point. Her gaze carried a hint of provocation.
Anyway, Qin Kaize couldn’t do anything right now, so she could flirt with him however she pleased. When he got better, she could just deny what she had done; what’s there to fear? Moreover, she’s already taken the Great Strength Pill. If it came to a comparison, she might not necessarily lose.
"When I recover..." Qin Kaize blinked, leaving his sentence unfinished. But his profound gaze held a teasing hint.
"Hmph, am I supposed to be afraid of you?" Su Yijia huffed playfully.
When he recovered, she would start seriously to review for the college entrance exams. By then, he’d only be able to watch from the sidelines.
Qin Kaize didn’t express anything further. He kept vaguely hinting at something as he glanced at the girl in front of him.
Even when Su Yijia carried him to bed, he remained wide-eyed, still a bit agitated.
Men were just easily swayed.
Su Yijia, although inexperienced, had seen enough to understand. Allowing Qin Kaize to calm down on his own, she found a comfortable spot on his broad chest, snuggled in, and drifted off to sleep.
Poor Qin Kaize, who stayed awake for most of the night, only to finally manage to calm down.
