Sacred Souls: Genesis-Chapter 176 - 175: Wealthy Family (Third Update)
Chapter 176 -175: Wealthy Family (Third Update)
Milk Add-on Free thought the temporary ten-day contract in his hand was still in an unsigned state.
This temporary contract could be resold to other players without extra charge for milk.
Wasn’t it somewhat reasonable to price the first SSR-grade hireable NPCs in Spirit at five thousand gold?
When the players around heard the word “five thousand gold,” their excitement cooled down instantly, replacing the joy they felt upon discovering two wild SSR-grade NPCs.
If we were talking about the game of Conflict, forget five thousand gold, even five hundred thousand might see fierce competition. But this is Spirit… known as the most expensive game in terms of gold price history.
Five thousand gold equated to more than a million in real currency!
If they had a million, they wouldn’t be playing cards or mahjong in Spirit; they’d have been investing or doing business already.
How could these two SSR-grade NPCs possibly be worth as much as a real-life house?
“Just kidding, how about we start an auction instead? Let’s start the bidding at five hundred gold, shall we?” Milk Add-on Free slashed the price by tenfold in an instant.
Upon hearing this, the players around suddenly became interested again… after all, five hundred gold seemed much more affordable compared to five thousand, right?
Of course, only a small portion of players thought this way, as five hundred gold was still a lofty sum for the average Spirit player.
“No takers?”
Milk Add-on Free saw the players around him fall silent, as if speaking out meant they were entering the bidding.
“Buy… sell? You… you’re going to sell us?”
In contrast, Weiser who had grasped the situation was panicking. The idea of buying and selling people was reminiscent of slave market tactics; she had imagined this place as related to amusement parks or the circus, not slavery markets…
At this thought, Weiser’s gaze drifted to the jail behind the wagon shop, where the Magic Thieves were imprisoned.
Is this actually a slave market? Clutching her sister’s hand tightly, Weiser knew… based on her capabilities and her appearance, maybe she could fetch a price, but including her sister just seemed too much.
“We are selling your employment contracts, relax. The gods will find you a good home where you can utilize your potential,” Milk Add-on Free tried to reassure the sisters.
While Milk Add-on Free was coaxing the two sisters, a voice rose from the crowd.
“Six hundred gold!”
The voice was filled with utter confidence, as though the two sisters were already in the bag of its owner. Then… the voice’s owner got beaten up the next second.
Milk Add-on Free recognized the voice’s owner; it belonged to Bubble, a well-known tycoon in Spirit that Milk Add-on Free was all too familiar with.
Six hundred gold was nothing but pocket change for him, but clearly not to his secretary.
His secretary, Xue Bi, was currently pinning Bubble’s Elemental Bomber to the ground and beating him up, intending to drag him away after.
“Xue Bi… wait! They are the only two SSR-grade characters in Spirit, I think they’re a good investment,” Bubble protested.
“Chairman, we are severely lacking in working capital. We don’t have money for you to spend on such uncertain investments anymore,” Xue Bi responded.
Xue Bi’s character had the appearance of a silver-haired male mage, but her voice was female. Jiang Qiao figured it wasn’t voice changing; if Fuzzy Rabbit played a female character as a male player, then she was a female player using a male character.
“How can it be uncertain? What if they have some amazing lifestyle skills?” Bubble grasped a tree stump, trying to resist being dragged away by Xue Bi.
But the problem was Xue Bi’s Ice Master strength was leagues above that of Bubble’s Elemental Bomber, and Bubble could not hold on for long.
“It would be better to spend the money on hiring players with high lifestyle professional skills than these NPCs. Have you obtained the contact information of the dark-haired Mechanical Engineer named Chang Qing from President Song?”
“I’m asking, already asking! Old Song might be sleeping now for all I know…”
“I’ve just broadcast their attributes to the current channel,” Milk Add-on Free said loudly to Xue Bi and Bubble at that moment.
Upon hearing Milk Add-on Free’s reply, Xue Bi glanced at the current channel and paused her PK mode to click on the two entries there.
“Dragon Speaker Weiser Yushimir,” “Dragon Tamer Yomi Yushimir”
These two terms were in orange, a color enough to make all players’ hearts flutter, but the prefixes attached to these two NPCs also caught Xue Bi’s attention.

The sisters’ prefixes were a temporary addition by Jiang Qiao, something that allowed players to quickly grasp an NPC’s characteristics, like the Faceless, Warhammer, Oak Shield, and so forth.
The prefixes of Dragon Speaker and Dragon Tamer undoubtedly led all the players present to think of… the numerous dragon-type enemies on Biland Island.
During the time she advertised milk without raising the price, Jiang Qiao found some time to browse the Holy Spirit Forum, where half the hot topics were debates about whether Miss Cat was actually Queen Mei, and a smaller portion were hoping that Holy Spirit would introduce a pet system soon.
‘Damn planners, when are you going to update a pet system? The monsters on Biland Island look cool and mighty, I really want to ride one.’ Poster: Foodie’s Worst Nightmare – Hunger.
This post had around three hundred replies, with many offering advice and suggestions for upgrading the pet system.
As for these posts, Jiang Qiao’s response was… I’d also love to do it, but it’s just not feasible!
Jiang Qiao could make some native creatures of Holy Spirit for players, but that would be a huge expense of Creation Energy. Moreover, game balance was hard to manage, requiring about three to four times more NPCs than the number of players.
The appearance of the two sisters made Jiang Qiao see the possibility of taming the creatures of Biland Island, but they still knew nothing of their own abilities and needed training.
There were many ways to train them, and Jiang Qiao could raise them as system NPCs herself.
But with so many workers under her command, Jiang Qiao certainly wanted to make good use of them…
The Cola Fanatics guild was the perfect place for the sisters to grow. As a renowned dog-holder guild in Holy Spirit, the Cola Fanatics would spare no effort in taking care of the sisters’ food, clothing, accommodation, and travel, provided that… the sisters proved their worth.
The terms Dragon Tamer and Dragon Speaker were enough to prove their value.
“Could these two SSR-tier characters actually be able to capture the dragons on the island as pets?”
“That would be too buggy.”
“They might not handle the bigger lord-level ones, but what about the smaller dragons and the dragon eggs?”
The players’ discussions instantly intrigued Xue Bi. Letting go of the bubble she held, she prepared to go up and bid for the sisters again, when another voice came from the other side of the crowd.
“Seven hundred gold.”
Jiang Qiao focused on the figure emerging from the group of players… Cruel Moonlight, the president of the Night Rush Guild, a Necromancer by profession.
The Night Rush Guild was somewhat similar in nature to the Abyss Temple; both were groups of leveling fanatics with guild strongholds in the violent depths of Biland Island.
“Moonlight, do you have that much money?” Bubble asked challengingly, as someone suddenly appeared to bid against him.
“The money is there. I took on a hidden quest that requires two Magic Thief NPCs. Guild Leader Bubble, do you plan to keep up the bid?” Cruel Moonlight’s character looked like a scarecrow wearing round glasses, quite eerie, and his gaze lingered on Xue Bi standing behind Bubble as he spoke.
“Of course I will! Let’s just go straight to one thousand… eight hundred gold.” Bubble intended to hike the price immediately but got knocked on the head by Xue Bi behind him and had to settle for increasing the bid by hundred increments.
After Bubble called out this price, he looked towards Cruel Moonlight. Eight hundred gold wasn’t a small amount for those at the guild leader level, but Cruel Moonlight knew he couldn’t compare to Bubble, the boss of Cola Fanatics, in terms of financial power.
Cruel Moonlight made a departing gesture to indicate that he couldn’t outbid Bubble. Milk Without Price Increase glanced around at the other players who seemed to have no intention of competing.
“Congratulations to Guild Leader Bubble on acquiring one! Do you want the other as well? Uh… okay, their contracts are bound together.” Milk Without Price Increase had hoped to wait a bit longer for the price to go up, but since she had acquired the sisters for free, earning eight hundred gold was enough to make her wake up laughing from her dreams.
Milk Without Price Increase completed the transaction with Bubble, handing over the sisters’ contracts, and Bubble spent another four hundred gold to sign a ten-day employment contract with them.
“Off you go, to a new life,” Milk Without Price Increase said, pointing to Bubble in the crowd, awaiting the sisters.
Weiser Yushimir didn’t say anything. She felt that living with Milk Without Price Increase would have been an acceptable option. She had no idea what kind of person Bubble was.
Unfortunately, she had no choice in the matter now. Weiser nodded to Milk Without Price Increase and, holding Yomi, walked over to Bubble.
“Potato?” Yomi didn’t understand what was happening. She just saw Milk Without Price Increase waving at them, and then her figure became more and more distant.
