Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 27: Sleeping together
Qie Xieling sucked in a breath of cold air as those cool fingertips touched his lips. He felt so guilty that he couldn’t look into Luo Muchen’s eyes.
After Luo Muchen was done Qie Xieling lowered his head like a wolf pup. If he had fluffy ears they would be drooping right now. Luo Muchen hummed softly passing the tube of ointment to him.
Qie Xieling accepted it with a soft, "Oh," before squeezing some on his fingers. He gently pinched Luo Muchen’s chin and raised his head slightly.
Because of the dim light, Qie Xieling couldn’t see clearly so he had to shuffle a little closer. He only stopped moving when their knees were touching. With a feather-light touch, Qie Xieling asked, "Does it hurt?"
Luo Muchen hummed a response as he shook his head his gaze transfixed on Qie Xieling. His breathing was unsteady and the word hot echoed in his mind. That’s because he felt like the fingers touching his lips were extremely hot, so hot that they would melt him away.
"I am sorry," said Qie Xieling and Luo Muchen finally came back to reality. There was a fire pressing on his chest and the more it burned the more panicked he was.
"It’s fine," he replied after clearing his throat.
"Okay, I am done," he said and Luo Muchen took the ointment before getting up to pack it away his heart pounding hard like he was on the verge of having a heart attack.
Qie Xieling sighed deeply as he crawled into his sleeping bag wondering how he was going to sleep tonight after such a scare when Luo Muchen called out to him.
"Lin Lin," he said his voice neither high nor low.
"Yah," he replied his eyes peeking through the sleeping bag.
Luo Muchen nervously rubbed his thigh seeming hesitant to ask. Despite this Qie Xieling was especially patient considering that he had bashed his face on Luo Muchen’s which he was still feeling incredibly guilty about.
"Where did you go?... Why were you running like that?" he finally asked and Qie Xieling pulled the sleeping bag over his head feeling very embarrassed about it. He had done so many stupid things in his life but this had to be the highest in ranking.
"I don’t want to talk about it," he answered as he shuffled to sleep on his side. With his back to Luo Muchen, he started counting sheep but his overactive brain kept replaying the scene in the cave. The big horns lurking in the shadows and those scarlet eyes were etched in his mind making it difficult to get rid of that eerie scene.
He shut his eyes tightly and tried to think of happy thoughts but the terror from before was still fresh in his mind that it made this task nearly impossible. Just as he decided to play an animated movie on his cellphone to fend off the terrifying thoughts he heard Luo Muchen’s voice again.
"Lin Lin," he called out his voice a little closer this time.
Qie Xieling opened his eyes but didn’t turn around as he answered, "What?"
"Can I sleep with you?" he said and Qie Xieling’s eyes opened wide like saucers. He half-set up and looked at Luo Muchen like he was looking at a crazy person. Seeing Luo Muchen’s expression was serious he calmed down a bit and while ruffling his hair he said,
"Tsk, class president... I crashed into your lips, not your brain. What on earth would possess you enough to make that request-," only for Luo Muchen to cut him off.
"I am scared... so can I?" he said and Qie Xieling was speechless. Well, he was outwardly speechless but internally he was starting to think it was an excellent idea.
When he was scared and couldn’t sleep he used to knock on his parents’ door and they would let him sleep in their bed. The weird thing was that he would sleep peacefully after that and he wouldn’t be afraid anymore.
His father put up with it for a while until he got fed up and bought a night light and told him if he gets scared he should leave it on. So each night he would sleep with a sea of stars lighting his room. He did outgrow it eventually but now he kind of needed it but he didn’t have it with him.
Suddenly the class president’s request didn’t seem so crazy anymore. "Fine... just keep your sleeping habits in check otherwise I will kick you out," he said as he unzipped the corner.
Because he moved too much while sleeping his dad had bought him an extra large sleeping bag. This meant the two of them could sleep comfortably with no issues.
Luo Muchen suppressed the smile creeping up at the corner of his lips as he slipped inside the sleeping bag. He wasn’t frightened at all but he could clearly tell Qie Xieling was scared.
Before he could think about it carefully he found that he had already opened his mouth to ask and Qie Xieling actually agreed. It was at this moment he realised something. Did Qie Xieling agree easily because he had done this before with other people?
Luo Muchen suddenly felt irritable for some reason. His brows creased his gaze fixed on Qie Xieling’s back. He bit his lower lip tightly trying to stop himself from asking but in the end, he failed miserably. "Lin Lin," he called out again and Qie Xieling finally couldn’t take it anymore.
"Will you stop calling me that? It’s giving me goosebumps," replied Qie Xieling. How many times did Luo Muchen have to call his name in one night?
"En I will stop... Have you done this before? Like have you slept with others before?" he asked while pushing his hair that was stuck on his face out of the way.
"Ai why does it sound weird when it comes out of your mouth?" said Qie Xieling adjusting his sleeping posture increasing the gap between them. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Luo Muchen saw it but he didn’t say anything. He was more interested in knowing who else slept in the same quilt with Qie Xieling.
"Just indulge me," replied Luo Muchen and Qie Xieling sighed before saying,
"Chubs and that’s it. We have sleepovers all the time. Though not recently because he drools all over my pillow. Hahaha, each time before bed I would banish him to the other end of the bed but I would wake up and find him very close to me. He even has the audacity to say I am the one who migrated."
