Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 697: Mini party
The small country island airport lay nestled under a canopy of stars, its runway lights casting a warm glow, illuminating the tarmac. The scent of saltwater mixed with the faint aroma of tropical flowers, created an intoxicating blend that enticed the two families as they disembarked from the private jet.
In front of them were two black SUVs and between them was a luxurious party Sprinter van with its doors opened. Qie Xieling didn’t expect that his father who seemed very allergic to anything most people considered fun had actually planned this.
He grabbed Luo Muchen’s hand and dragged him along into the van. Inside there were plush leather seats against the three walls of the van and there was a large space in the centre with colourful lights flickering in the entire interior.
Everyone squeezed in and soon champagne flutes clinked, and trays of gourmet snacks circulated. Qie Xieling was on the cusp of the storm. Wen Qinxi was sitting on Qie Ranzhe’s lap with no shame at all.
The atmosphere was electric. The van was filled with laughter, stories, and shared memories weaving through the air. Qie Xieling knew how to get his dad and uncle to get up so he deliberately provoked them with their favourite song.
In a flash, Wen Qinxi was gone leaving Qie Ranzhe at a loss. Luo Muchen got up and sat next to his father-in-law while handing him another glass. Qie Ranzhe accepted it and said, "Thanks," but both their gazes were glued on their significant others.
Luo Shih couldn’t help but poke the bears sitting upright like flag poles. "I say, how on earth did you two score those two? You are so stiff and boring hahaha," she said mocking them but Luo Muchen wouldn’t let that slide.
"You are one to talk. How did you land that," he said and Luo Shih’s smile stiffened. Her boyfriend was swinging by the pole having the time of his life.
The pair of son-in-law and father-in-law chuckled. Qie Ranzhe fist-bumped Luo Muchen and said, "Good one."
"You!... I see. Now that you are married you are turning your back on your mother. Good, very good," she said with a chilling smile but her eyes showed a glint of joy. This was good. Her son was finally getting along with Qie Ranzhe. She didn’t have to worry anymore.
"He used to sing better than this now he sounds like a pig being slaughtered," Qie Ranzhe said wishing he could unplug Qie Xieling’s microphone.
"He sounds like an angel," replied Luo Muchen absentmindedly. He genuinely looked like he was being serenaded by a celestial being.
Qie Ranzhe, "..."
Good. At least his son-in-law was whipped. He was pretty sure he would gladly eat whatever Qie Xieling cooked even if it was those salty burnt tomatoes and eggs that tasted like poison with a big smile. He had endured those every Father’s Day and had to eat them with a happy smile for fear of hurting his son’s feelings. Now Luo Muchen was an official VIP member of the henpecked husbands association.
His gaze turned back to the front of the van where Qie Xieling and his angelic husband, were belting out a classic love song. Their voices filled the space with warmth. Qie Xieling’s laughter danced in the air, and Wen Qinxi’s eyes sparkled while Wen Danzhe played an invisible guitar. As for Hei Xiwen, he was the backup dancer swinging on the pole like a kid at the playground. It was quite an amusing scene.
The van glided toward the docks and soon the mini party was moved elsewhere. There was a yacht waiting for them. It was a sleek vessel that would carry them to the private island where Qie Ranzhe and Wen Qinxi got married.
Qie Xieling had been there several times. He could already imagine moonlit beaches, secluded coves, and lazy mornings tangled in Luo Muchen’s arms.
The van halted, and they stepped onto the wooden dock. The yacht bobbed in the water, its lights casting a golden glow. Qie Xieling and Wen Danzhe raced to be first to get on board. If one didn’t know any better they would mistake them for middle schoolers.
"Respect your elders," said Wen Danzhe running ahead after dragging Qie Xieling back.
"Uh uncle this is bullying. It’s my honeymoon, " yelled Qie Xieling grabbing Wen Danzhe’s t-shirt and pulling him back but before he could run forward they were both smacked upside their head by Grandma Wen.
"You are so childish. How can you make a fuss at a place like this," she said and the two scratched the back of their heads in shame.
Well, that was until she said, "Hahaha Suckers. I am first," while standing on top of the gangway.
Wen Danzhe, "..."
Qie Xieling, "..."
"Damn it. Move over," said Wen Danzhe and the scuffle resumed. In the end, it was Wen Danzhe who won and like always Qie Xieling complained to his dad.
This time however his dad waved him off and said, "Lin Lin, you are now a married man and your uncle is crazy. Just ignore him."
Wen Danzhe who couldn’t accept that pot over his head. "Dage, how can you call your didi crazy? You really know how to hurt my feelings," he said his hand on his heart like he had been seriously wronged.
Qie Xieling was about to make fun of his uncle when he caught a glimpse of Luo Muchen beckoning him over before disappearing around the corner. His invisible tail wagged and like a pup lured in with treats, he snuck away and followed his husband.
Qie Xieling had just turned the corner when his arm was yanked. As they wandered through the narrow passageway at the starboard side, Luo Muchen’s grip on Qie Xieling’s arm grew tighter. Qie Xieling could feel his heart pounding in his chest as they moved deeper into the dimly lit space. He didn’t know why but this seemed a little exciting.
Suddenly, Luo Muchen pushed him up against the wall, his lips crushing against Qie Xieling’s with a fierce passion that left them both breathless. Qie Xieling moaned softly into the kiss, surrendering himself completely to the moment. A cool breeze swept past his cheeks with his hair gently blowing with the wind.
Luo Muchen’s kiss became gentler his hands cupping his lover’s head. His thumbs caressed Qie Xieling’s hair his chest pressed up against him.
When their lips parted Luo Muchen hugged him tightly, he leaned in and whispered something into Qie Xieling’s ear that made him blush bright red. What did he say to him? Simple, he said, "I want you." That alone was enough to provoke a dormant volcano.
Despite the heat of their embrace, Qie Xieling felt a sudden rush of shyness wash over him, unsure of how to respond to Luo Muchen’s forwardness.
But even as he blushed, he knew that there was no turning bacDayow. He thought he married a sheep but it turns out it was a cunning fox... nope, it was the big bad wolf and there were no returns.
