SEX WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S FIANCÉ-Chapter 92 - NINETY TWO
Chapter 92: Chapter NINETY TWO
- KILLIAN -
"Connect me to her, Natalie." I say over the screen. It’s a video call.
I can see her surroundings through the screen as well as what she’s doing. She’s typing something on the keyboards of a series of monitors. Natalie is a professional hacker. I learnt every trick from her and she’s good at it.
Makes me wonder why I haven’t asked her to aid me find my birth parents’ murderer yet.
The reason finally hits me. Oh, yeah, she’s not keen on the idea of revenge and she’s very expensive. Being related doesn’t mean free services.
My eyes plaster to the screen. The reflection of the codes in her eyes are slightly visible. I smile.
"Doing something else, mommy?" I tease, leaving an emphasis on the last word with a lowered tone. Natalie looks my way and sneers.
"Call me that again and I swear I’ll-" freёweɓnovel.com
"Feed me some milk?"
She frowns. "Do you want the video visuals or not?" She asks, annoyed. There’s a pun behind the ’mommy’ and the ’milk’. One I won’t share yet.
"I’m sorry. Link me to it." I chuckle under my breath.
Natalie gives me a good stare. "You know what? No."
I sit up immediately. She doesn’t mean that, right? I swallow. The menacing grin on her face says otherwise. "Mother," I call cautiously.
"Ah, so it’s mother now? Not going to call me ’mommy’?"
I scoff. It’s not funny.
"I’ll keep an eye on her and you.." Natalie pauses. Her finger taps her chin slowly like she’s thinking of something to say. I’ve known her long enough to know that she isn’t. "You do whatever the fuck you can at this late hour. I don’t want to know about it."
"Wait!" I gush, moving forward in my seat like someone ready to pounce although there’s not much pouncing to be done.
"Bye." She says. The line disconnects immediately.
I stare at it blankly. She did not just hang up on me.
The blank screen says otherwise, my mind reminds me, causing a frown for form on my face.
I can’t fucking believe this. And for a joke? I risked watching Hazel for a joke?!
I know where she’s at because of the Uber, who’s actually one of my men, but not knowing about anything happening around her right now when Asami is on the loose in the same building as Hazel leaves me restless.
I shouldn’t have teased Natalie! I sulk in my mind, leaning back in my seat. I’m in my home office. Everywhere is so dark and I have many important things to do at the moment but I can’t seem to want to do anything.
Nothing really seems enjoyable right now. Nothing but Hazel’s safety is what is on my mind right now. My foot taps the floor impatiently.
How can I while time away for the next few hours? Hazel and I didn’t really have time to communicate more about the party details so I don’t even know if she’ll be there all night. I reach my hand to my pocket to grab my phone.
The screen comes on and I’m welcomed by notifications.
I have a lot of unread messages. Some from my brother, some from Hazel and two from Asami. The other people who texted me don’t matter so I don’t bother to scroll through.
I unlock my phone and click on the most important person’s chat first. Hazel’s.
’I’m having fun. No need to worry about me!’
’I was so freaking scared at first but it became much cooler. I’ll fill you in once I’m back!’
’Thank you for aiding me with this on such short notice. Natalie is a fashion goddess!’
There are a few emoticons on the side of the last message and I have no idea what the fuck they mean.
’I’m bonding with people. YaY?’
’I won’t be able to use my phone much. Goodnight. Luv you’ She leaves a heart emoji pierced with a arrow at the end of the message.
I sigh. Reading this gives me a lot of mixed feelings. If Asami wasn’t there, I’d be glad Hazel remembered to text me.
I leave our chat and stare at my screen. Asami’s unread message is bold in front. Staring at it is unsettling.
I click on it.
She sent a photo. I load it.
Asami’s sat on a chair with people by her side. The photo is blurry but I can make view of one person. Hazel. She’s holding a plastic cup. A hand holds something in front of her. From the angle, I can tell the owner of that hand took the photo.
’I gave her some of this. I wonder what it does.’
I read the message. My jaw tightens. In Asami’s hand is a labelled vial. I zoom in the picture. No matter how much I stare at it, I can’t see what’s written on it. I connect my phone to my laptop and send the photo to my laptop.
I’m about to make the graphics of this image clear enough for me to know what’s written on that vial.
I swallow, running my fingers on my keyboard and mouse as I work on the image.
My gaze darkens when I read the label. 毒。
[ Translation: Poison. ]
If I thought I was restless before, I feel way worse now. Asami could be playing games with me. Or not.
My gaze shifts to the cup in Hazel’s hand. Fuck! The fact that I can’t just waltz there is messing with my head.
Natalie is doing her job right, right? Giving Hazel her undivided attention while keeping an eye on her.
I sigh. I’m so fucking tensed right now and there’s not much I can do about it.
