Shadow and Light: The Bride Who Clicks Her Way to Love-Chapter 405 - 418: Taking Photos of Han
If it truly feels bitter, it’s because he’s not capable enough.
With this thought, he turned around and headed towards the storeroom in the back garden filled with mechanical parts, instructing Mrs. Gui, "Don’t disturb me if there’s nothing urgent."
Mrs. Gui’s eyes were full of reluctance, watching the young master looking so lonely, it truly pained her. Every time the young master was in a bad mood, he would go to that storeroom to dispel his loneliness. But as a maid, what could she do about it?
Lu Shifeng walked out.
In the living room on the first floor, only Mrs. Gui remained.
Mrs. Gui looked in the direction he left, and then towards the faint sounds of laughter from women and children on the second floor. She bit her lip and made a decision.
She went into the kitchen, made a few cups of warm drinks, and took them upstairs.
On the second floor, Su Xingyu and Han were in Jue’s room.
The room, as always, was filled with mysterious and complex blueprints. These blueprints covered most of the floor-to-ceiling windows, blocking out the sunlight.
Jue quietly stayed in this dim room, his eyes expressionless and unfocused, neither smiling nor moving.
Han, however, spared no effort in acting cute in front of him, "Brother Jue, please... play with me just this once, won’t you? My mom’s photography skills are great, she can definitely make you look beautiful. Even the sister who came to tutor me last time said boys need to look good for girls to like them."
"Han." Su Xingyu chided him with a bit of a smile, not truly angry.
Such a young child, how does he understand this? Han’s temperament really isn’t like Lu Shifeng at all.
As Su Xingyu thought this, she subconsciously glanced at Jue. Compared to Han, Jue indeed resembled his father more, with an expressionless face, lean lines, and an intimidating aura...
Sometimes upon a quick glance, Su Xingyu felt he was a spitting image of Lu Shifeng from his childhood.
Is this the difference between Zhuang Heng’s child and her own?
Su Xingyu felt a little sad; someone else’s child resembles Lu Shifeng more than her own does.
Unwilling, she looked for traces of Lu Shifeng in Han. Han was clinging to Jue with enthusiasm, not deterred at all by Jue’s indifference, almost leaning his whole body against Jue, repeatedly saying, "Come on, come on... Take pictures with us..."
The two little faces were very close together.
Dim light sprinkled sporadically on the faces of the two children.
Upon closer inspection, Su Xingyu found that Han and Jue actually looked alike, especially the contour of their eyes and noses, as if carved from the same mold. Unfortunately, Han was too chubby, his face full of baby fat, while Jue was too thin, his cheeks sunken with hardly any flesh. If not for deliberate observation, one would hardly notice how similar the two children were.
No doubt they are half-brothers.
Su Xingyu sighed softly in her heart, thinking of her own child who died at birth.
Ouyang Yi said it was a baby girl, Han’s sister, what a pity...
What a pity it was a girl, otherwise, she would have had the illusion that the twin of Han who lived was Jue.
If it were Jue, how wonderful it would be.
Su Xingyu shook her head, wondering if she must be going insane to have such unrealistic thoughts.
Watching Han persistently cling to Jue, with Jue remaining expressionless, she couldn’t help but walk over, squat down, and also say to Jue, "Won’t you come outside to take pictures with us, Jue? It’s fun, you know."
Her tone was very gentle, but still, Jue had no reaction whatsoever.
By the door, Mrs. Gui, carrying a wooden tray of warm drinks, witnessed this scene and couldn’t help but say, "Ma’am, let the master have a try. Young Master Jue may be a little reclusive, but he occasionally pays attention to the master." She sincerely hoped the couple could reconcile, though she didn’t dare to advise directly and had to resort to such a method.
Only then did Su Xingyu notice Mrs. Gui at the door. She looked up at her, feeling hesitant.
Although today Lu Shifeng helped heal her face, lifting her spirits, the injury was partly due to him, so she didn’t feel especially grateful. In fact, even today, she avoided excessive contact with that man; the shadow of past events was too deep, and she didn’t think she could remain unaffected in his presence.
While she was still contemplating, Han, without any reservations, raised his head and said to her, "Does Mr. Lu really have a way to get Jue to play with us? Shall we go find him?"
Su Xingyu said, "Don’t you usually have ways to get Jue to play with you? Jue isn’t as patient with Mr. Lu as he is with you."
Han looked at Jue, who was engrossed with his blueprints, feeling conflicted, "Well, of course, Jue likes me the best. But maybe when I can’t get him to move, Mr. Lu could?"
He said, uncertainly.
Watching Han, Su Xingyu felt a pang of sorrow; even with Jue’s company, it must be lonely in this villa, right?
For some reason, this child seemed to naturally feel close to Lu Shifeng, though Mr. Lu usually seemed so intimidating. Yet, Han apparently never feared him and often asked him numerous questions. Lu Shifeng didn’t seem to dislike Han either. Regardless of whether he was pretending in front of her or genuinely good to Han.
So she thought, since the child wanted to find Lu Shifeng, they might as well go.
After all, that man is his biological father.
Unable to give Han a father, Su Xingyu felt very guilty. She didn’t want her issues to affect the child too much, after all, her matters with Lu Shifeng were separate from the child’s situation.
So she sighed softly and said to the child, "Go ahead."
The child cheered and ran downstairs.
By the door, Mrs. Gui also let out a sigh of relief, placed the tray with warm drinks on the table, and retreated.
Before long, Han indeed brought Lu Shifeng up.
Unlike the child’s excited expression, Lu Shifeng’s expressionless face appeared quite silently. He entered the room, saw Su Xingyu, and the two met eyes, both not knowing what to say.
It was Su Xingyu who tilted her head slightly in Jue’s direction and said to him, "Han insisted on taking pictures with Jue, but Jue ignored him. Could you have a look?"
Lu Shifeng glanced at her, then squatted down in front of Jue, softly saying to the child, "Jue?"
Jue continued playing with his blueprints, showing no reaction to his father’s call.
Lu Shifeng then asked Su Xingyu, "Where to take pictures?"
Su Xingyu glanced at the two children, thought for a moment, and said, "How about the big terrace outside Han’s room? There’s light, and flowers. We shouldn’t take them in this room; it’s too oppressive."
