Shadow and Light: The Bride Who Clicks Her Way to Love-Chapter 406 - 419: Mr. Lu, Come Join Us
Jue’s room is always a bit dark, inexplicably giving a heavy feeling.
Lu Shifeng said, "You and Han go first." Then he carefully picked Jue up from the floor, his movements very gentle.
Being disturbed, Jue let out ah-ah sounds, about to have a tantrum.
Lu Shifeng picked up the drawing Jue had been playing with and coaxed him with an extremely gentle voice, "Jue, it’s okay, Daddy is here. Your drawing is here too. Daddy will hold it for you to take photos, and bring you right back after, okay?" His patient and detailed manner was like that of a kindergarten teacher.
Su Xingyu looked on, somewhat dazed. She recalled when she first met Lu Shifeng; the man before her was so aloof and indifferent, making him seem very unapproachable.
When did he start to change to the person he is now? Was it because of the child?
He is really good to the child.
She couldn’t help but glance at him a few more times.
He stood up holding Jue, meeting her gaze just then.
Her heart was slightly flustered, and she turned her head away.
In silence, they left Jue’s bedroom. Han was busy leading the way and had already set a spot on the terrace, jumping to help Lu Shifeng put Jue down.
Jue had been a little noisy, but standing next to Han, tightly holding his drawing, he calmed down. His eyes didn’t focus on anyone, only engrossed in his drawing. But even like this, the others were satisfied.
Autistic children can’t easily control their emotions. The fact that Jue didn’t throw a fit while being moved was a good sign.
Su Xingyu said, "You guys wait here, I’ll go get the camera and tripod."
Han nodded vigorously.
Su Xingyu turned back to the villa, went to the room where she usually kept her equipment, selected the camera suitable for portrait photography in this weather, and assembled the lens.
She heard a slight noise from behind.
Turning around, she saw Lu Shifeng standing not far behind her, picking out the appropriate tripod from a row next to the wall corner and holding it effortlessly. "Let me help you."
She gave him a look without saying anything and turned to walk back to the terrace.
On the terrace, Han was crouched next to Jue, watching him play with his drawing, while exclaiming, "Wow, Jue, you’re amazing! Just looking at the drawing can make you feel better! I wish I had your special power... Wow, Jue, you’re incredible, staring at a line for such a long time! So long..."
Su Xingyu was almost driven to tears by her son’s silliness. Without comparison, she didn’t realize that next to the cold and aloof Jue, Han seemed like a little fool.
"Han," she weakly called him, "aren’t you tired saying so much by yourself?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Not tired!" Han looked up, seeing his mother had returned, his baby-fat face smiling, "Mom, Jue is really incredible, just looking at the drawing makes him happy."
Su Xingyu took the tripod from Lu Shifeng’s hand, setting up the camera while asking him, "How do you know if Jue is happy or not?"
The child, like Lu Shifeng, always had an emotionless face.
Han said, "I just know! Jue is pretty happy now. Right, Jue?" While speaking, he pulled Jue with his chubby short arms.
Jue, for once, didn’t get angry or dodge.
So, Su Xingyu could tell that Jue was indeed quite happy. This child only didn’t mind being touched when he was exceedingly happy.
Even Lu Shifeng found it amazing and asked Han, "Han, how did you see that Jue is happy or not?"
Han blinked, "I just know."
Seeing that the two adults didn’t quite understand, he pointed to his chest, "Here, I have a feeling."
Lu Shifeng: "..."
Su Xingyu also wasn’t quite convinced. What feeling, it’s not like mind reading.
Probably this child was naturally sensitive to others’ emotions. Could he observe whether someone was happy?
She said to the child, "Then you should care more about Jue in the future. Jue can’t say what he likes, dislikes, or how he feels, so it’s good to have you around to help Jue express himself, letting Mom and..." She initially intended to say Mr. Lu, but it came out as, "and Mrs. Gui take better care of him."
Han nodded vigorously, "Hmm!"
Beside them, Lu Shifeng couldn’t get a word in edgewise, silently watching the mother and son, feeling like an outsider. Even Jue, who was absorbed in his own world, seemed more integrated. Despite his aloofness, Su Xingyu and her son hadn’t forgotten Jue, looking harmonious together.
Su Xingyu adjusted the camera, taking a few photos of Han and Jue first.
In the photos, Han’s face was bright and sunny, hugging Jue with an innocent smile, while the autistic child surprisingly didn’t resist at all. Although his expression remained indifferent, the photos had an oddly harmonious feel.
Su Xingyu looked at the photos, feeling very satisfied.
Han also leaned over to look, praising, "Wow, Mom, you took great photos."
This made Lu Shifeng, standing next to them, a bit tempted to look too, but recalling Su Xingyu’s frosty attitude towards him, the thought vanished instantly.
Han stretched out his little hand to pull Su Xingyu, "Mom, come and take photos together."
Su Xingyu smiled a bit, "Okay."
She set the camera to timed delay, went to stand behind the two kids, and joined them in the photo.
But Han called out, "Mr. Lu, Mr. Lu, you come too!"
The smile on Su Xingyu’s face faded slightly.
Lu Shifeng had been quietly watching her, not missing even the subtlest expressions on her face. Upon hearing Han’s call, he said, "I won’t."
Han, unwilling to give up, said, "Come on, come on." He ran out of the frame and reached out with his soft little hands to pull him.
The soft touch of the child’s hands made Lu Shifeng’s heart soften too, but as long as Su Xingyu didn’t speak, he wouldn’t go and impose. He had done many things that displeased Xingyu before, and even though today he helped her with her face, she remained indifferent. He didn’t want any new problems to arise in their tenuous relationship.
He bent down and said to the child, "You go take the photo yourself, be good."
But the child was insistent, turning his head to call his mother, "Mom, Mom, you let Mr. Lu come too, he won’t listen to me, boohoo."
Su Xingyu wondered if this little guy was naturally unaware of danger? Even dare to provoke someone like Lu Shifeng.
