She Asks for a Divorce Again-Chapter 68 - Rest Well
Chapter 68: Chapter 68 Rest Well
Tears fell into the palm of his hand, a scalding sensation. It was the first time Pei Yansi had ever touched her tears, those teardrops in his palm brought wave after wave of strange feelings.
Shen Heyu turned her head away, not wanting to deal with him, nor wanting him to touch her at such a close distance. Just thinking about how this hand had embraced Bai Sheng’er before made her feel waves of disgust in her heart.
Seeing her like this, Pei Yansi no longer forced anything and withdrew his hand, contacting Zhao Jin to bring over that box of medicine.
Zhao Jin didn’t take long to bring the item.
He took it to the hospital for testing, and it indeed turned out to be an abortion pill, but its strength wasn’t intense. Perhaps the stricter control of stronger medicines meant Bai Sheng’er couldn’t get ahold of them. It was for this reason that Shen Heyu’s child was saved.
He sat by the bed with that box of medicine, his gaze low and pensive. Shen Heyu, upon seeing this, scoffed coldly and deliberately said, “The evidence is right before your eyes, yet you still refuse to do anything to her, right? If this child is not as important to you as she is, why insist on me keeping it?”
...
Pei Yansi’s gaze grew colder as he stared at Shen Heyu’s face, which, despite being somewhat pale, was still beautiful. He said, “You should rest well.”
Having spoken in a deep voice, he stood up with the items in hand, pulled open the ward door, and left without telling her where he was going.
Shen Heyu was used to this by now, her heart had long been numbed to it.
After Pei Yansi took the items and left, he sat in the car, with Zhao Jin following him into the driver’s seat, asking, “President Pei, where to?”
“Meet her.”
Without saying who ‘she’ was, Zhao Jin knew he meant Bai Sheng’er. Knowing her current address, he immediately drove off.
But he didn’t see anyone at home.
Even though the birthday party had ended, she hadn’t come back. Pei Yansi had a key, so after letting himself in and waiting a while, he finally saw Bai Sheng’er saunter back home.
As she walked in and saw him there, she paused, then her eyes reddened, and tears fell as she said, “Brother Yan Si, why are you here?”
As she spoke, she tried to throw herself into his arms.
Pei Yansi indifferently moved to sit aside, putting distance between them. He watched her quietly, her tears failing to evoke any pity from him.
Instead, he felt a sense of inexplicable irritation.
“Brother Yan Si?” Bai Sheng’er was confused by his sudden aloofness.

Pei Yansi stared at her, staying silent, and then directly tossed the box of medicine onto the coffee table in front of them.
“What is this?”
“What do you mean, ‘what is this’?” Bai Sheng’er, feigning innocence, looked at the box, walked forward, picked it up, and glanced at the instructions. She then remarked, “This seems to be for pregnant women, but I’m not pregnant.”
When pregnancy was mentioned, her cheeks reddened, her innocent demeanor akin to a bashful little flower, easily blushing at the mere mention of any intimate matter.
Now, however, such a change could no longer stir any other emotions in Pei Yansi. Looking at her face that so closely resembled Shen Fanshuang’s, he said, “You placed it there, didn’t you? I’m giving you one chance. I’m not patient, so I hope you remember that.”
Bai Sheng’er stared blankly at him, sensing the coldness and threat in his tone, even the way he looked at her filled with a stern warning.
She had always known her limits, and given the current situation, her secrets were clearly exposed or he wouldn’t have come to her door, holding the items and demanding answers.
Realizing this, Bai Sheng’er dropped the act, her tears flowing more abundantly, like pearls spilling off a string, she choked up, “I’m sorry, Brother Yansi, I was just too jealous… I was jealous that she was carrying your child, and I had nothing…”
“Even the mere desire to have you by my side had to be so cautious. I really didn’t mean it, it was just a moment of folly. Please, forgive me…”
Bai Sheng’er cried as she spoke, teardrops sparkling at the corners of her eyes, occasionally reaching up to wipe them away. Her appearance, so pitiful like a pear blossom bathed in rain, could arouse anyone’s protective instincts.
Pei Yansi looked on with an expression as cold as ice, seemingly unmoved. He coolly said to her, “The incident with the reinforcing bars at the construction site last time, was that also your doing?”
He had investigated, and all signs pointed to Bai Sheng’er.
Originally, his intention hadn’t been for Shen Heyu but for his own company. It couldn’t afford to have someone placing others’ lives at risk on his construction sites, for this would be a significant hidden danger for the future of his corporation.
But the investigation led back to her alone.
Hearing this, Bai Sheng’er froze for a moment before responding, “What do you mean? Brother Yansi, I can admit to the things I’ve done, but I won’t acknowledge what has nothing to do with me… This drug, indeed I acted out of jealousy to harm Director Shen, but that’s because I love you so much. I’m sorry…”
She was weeping, looking as forlorn as a rain-drenched flower.
Pei Yansi simply watched her quietly. After a long while, it was unclear if he believed her words or not, but he simply said, “Behave yourself. If it happens again, the consequences won’t be so mild.”
Having said this, he turned to leave.
He had only walked a few steps when Bai Sheng’er approached from behind and hugged him tightly, her arms closed firmly around his waist, “Are you leaving, Brother Yansi? I really was wrong. Please stay with me, won’t you? Just now, at the ancestral house, Grandma Pei scolded me, sob sob…”
Pei Yansi looked down at the hands clasping him, their delicate pale fingertips so unlike Shen Heyu’s. Indeed, Shen Heyu had never held him in such a way.
He pried her hands loose before saying, “Take some time to cool down.”
With those words, he left without a hint of reluctance. Bai Sheng’er watched him go, feeling increasingly anxious. Shen Heyu was only recently pregnant, and he already treated her so differently. What would happen when the child was born?
Bai Sheng’er felt incredibly resentful; from beginning to end, she nurtured a single thought: never let Shen Heyu’s child be born.
After leaving the apartment, Pei Yansi drove himself to the hospital to take Shen Heyu home for care.
Of course, he was not the one to personally take care of her.
Once Shen Heyu returned to her room, she continued with her IV drip, lying in bed surrounded by bustling nutritionists.
Pei Yansi sat on a sofa to the side, silently watching her on the bed. After the servants had finished their tasks, he approached the bedside, looked down at her, and asked, “Does it still hurt?”
His voice was tender as it had never been before. Shen Heyu almost believed she was hallucinating, but still replied as politely as possible, “I’m okay.”
Pei Yansi observed her pale face and chapped lips, saying, “Get some rest, I will be back later.”
Saying so, he turned and left the bedroom first. Shen Heyu watched him go, confused about the sudden change in his attitude toward her.
