Chapter 1125. A Brand-New Existence

"You said you can see the future. Does that mean you can see your future once you've assimilated them all?" 005 asked, her figure becoming more and more illusory as the seconds went on.

"Yes, I can see two futures—I succeeded in one of them, while I failed in the other," Charles replied. Immediately afterward, millions of tentacles proliferated inside him, piercing the chunks of flesh within him.

Charles felt a strong gust of wind. He had no idea whether it was real or a mere illusion, but the wind was extremely powerful. It pierced his skin and swept across his organs.

The wind was pitch-black, and the surroundings changed under its influence.

The fierce black wind blew across Charles, blasting him across the dark gulfs of space and gray regions of matter.

Charles could feel himself careering across a myriad of indescribable landscapes and dark planets; he could feel himself swirl and shift, traversing immeasurable distances across the boundless vast expanse of the universe.

The twinkling stars were born and destroyed. They intertwined with one another, transforming into a shimmering, hazy spiral, and then he saw tiny asteroids streaking across the abyss deeper than the fabled depths of Shung.

And then the wind came to a halt...

When Charles came to his senses again, he realized that he had broken through a certain barrier.

He no longer needed to think linearly like humans—no, thoughts were no longer necessary to him. Doubts and worries also ceased to exist for Charles, as any answer he needed was simply right there.

Just then, a fish swam past Charles. The ordinary fish transformed into a line in front of him. The one end of the line depicted the fish's birth, while the other end depicted the fish's demise.

Charles had succeeded. He had become a higher-dimensional existence, like what 005 had mentioned.

All traces of his humanity seemed to have vanished in an instant. Then, with a will on his end, Charles began to modify the laws of time in an attempt to reverse the time of the entire Subterranean Sea.

However, just as Charles was about to begin, he stopped, realizing that he couldn't do it. For some reason, he still couldn't do it despite what he had achieved.

Charles could feel that something was missing deep inside him.

What am I missing? As an almost omniscient being, Charles tried to find the answer to his conundrum. He searched the entire Subterranean Sea and soon discovered the answer—that final bit of his humanity was still there.

The fact that he still had his final vestiges of humanity was a bad thing. This wasn't what 005 had told him. Clearly, he had yet to truly become a higher-dimensional being.

No wonder he still couldn't change the laws of time. He was still missing something. He had to hurry up and find it.

Charles willed it, and time rewound like a tape. This time, he went back to more than a decade ago. Back then, he had just arrived in the Subterranean Sea.

A young man in a school uniform was on a wooden boat, and he was nervously scanning the pitch-black sea surface using his phone's flashlight.

As soon as Charles saw his past self, his past self saw His eyes in the water.

The sight wasn't something the young Charles could withstand. When their gaze met, the young Charles swelled and deformed rapidly before finally losing consciousness.

However, Charles hadn't come here to confront his past self. He was here to look for the passageway that his past self had used to reach the Subterranean Sea from the surface world.

The passageway had long disappeared at this point in time, but Charles simply rewound time even further until he found the passageway.

The passageway was small, but it was large enough to accommodate a small wooden boat. There was also one thing for sure—it was artificially made.

However, Charles couldn't care less about the identity of the one who sent him to the Subterranean Sea. All he wanted to do was complete his task and leave in peace.

Charles made use of that passageway and finally arrived at the surface world. If Charles were still obsessed with the surface world, he would have been thrilled upon reaching the surface world, but he no longer had any emotions.

Charles stopped in his tracks and looked around. The surface world seemed a bit different from what he was familiar with. There weren't any towering skyscrapers or any human beings. Even the sun and the moon had vanished.

There wasn't anything around except for Charles and the black meteors falling like rain, creating craters all over the ground.

The sky was devoid of any stars, and there weren't any celestial bodies in outer space. There was nothing; it was like the surface world had become an empty void.

Something's wrong. There isn't even any oxygen here. How did I even survive this place as a young teenager? Charles pondered. His "omniscience" seemed useless here, as everything was broken. In fact, this couldn't even be considered a world.

While Charles was busy pondering what was wrong, he could feel someone calling out to him. Who's calling out to me?

Charles closed his eyes and frowned. His vision was just connected to something else—a towering flesh tentacle standing upright in a circular lake. Charles turned and saw a fierce-looking young woman standing by the lake.

The young woman was familiar. She was none other than his wife Anna, whom he had sent to the surface world.

In the proverbial blink of an eye, Charles immediately knew how to face her.

"Anna, it's been so long. I really missed you." A voice laced with feigned affection echoed from the dozens of mouths on the flesh tentacle.

Charles finally understood how 005 seemed to be a genuine human being. It turned out that pretending to be a human being was extremely easy.

Charles watched as Anna walked through the crowd and stepped onto the crimson lake. Charles controlled the crimson lake, transforming it into a red carpet that carried Anna closer to him.

Upon reaching the giant flesh tentacle, Anna went berserk. She punched and kicked the fleshly tentacle as if her life depended on it for the sake of venting her dissatisfaction.

"You selfish bastard!! You've always only thought about yourself! Have you ever thought of me before making any decisions?! I changed many things about myself for your sake, and what reward did I get in return?!

"The reward was getting thrown to this damned surface!"

Just then, two palms grew from the tentacle, and they extended to embrace the hysterical Anna. "I'm sorry, my love."

As soon as he made contact with his wife, Charles instantly understood her emotions and everything there was to understand about her. He could even deduce her actions. In his eyes, Anna had become just a mere object.

Love... what an ironic concept... Charles tried his best to protect his final vestiges of humanity.

Anna broke free and pounced on the tentacle before biting it viciously as if she were a leopardess. However, it seemed that biting was not enough to assuage her fury, as she even used her corrosive flames to scorch Charles' flesh.

The part of the flesh tentacle that Anna was biting furiously transformed into a mouth, and it moved closer to kiss her. Anna struggled, but multiple appendages burst out of the flesh tentacle, wrapping her in an embrace.

Anna's fierce struggles gradually mellowed out. In the end, she embraced the giant flesh tentacle and began biting its appendages.

Do I really love her? Why should I even love her? What's the point of such a low-level emotion? Charles wondered in the face of his wife's bizarre behavior.
